Praying, Giving and Receiving - a special series for Lent on Matthew's Gospel, written by Peter Graystone
Matthew 7:13-14
Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
The Lord Jesus chose the hardest route of all. He chose suffering and death. But Jesus knew that this terrible choice would bring a great good to all humankind.
Today is the day when the decision to follow Jesus is hardest. Going the way of Jesus means going the way of the cross. Will you choose the narrow gate? The Christian way is challenging, but ... oh! ... the life it brings!
As today we remember the crucifiction of Jesus, spend some time in prayer with God and remember that for some Christians standing up in Jesus' name has meant death. Thank God that he has been with you when you have had to face any hard situations or decisions because of your faith. Thank Jesus that he died for you.
