John 20 v 10-14
Then the followers went back home. But Mary stood outside the tomb, crying. As she was crying, she bent down and looked inside the tomb. She saw two angels dressed in white, sitting where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and one at the feet.
They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"
She answered, "They have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have put him." When Mary said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know it was Jesus.
Mary does not know but the angels know something she doesn't. They know where Jesus is, the risen Lord who has defeated the power of sin. Sometimes it seems that other people are like angels to us. They get alongside us when we are weak, when we feel helpless, when we feel the least about ourselves.
There are, at times, Christian friends who just seem to know about those feelings and draw us to see the power of Christ in the situation. I wonder how many of us have got someone who has deeply affected us in our Christian life who has shown us the way, who has been our messenger, like the angels, to help us see Christ in our lives.
Some people just seem to be the pointer our angels at times in our lives and we should thank God for them.
Father God we thank for sending your Son who defeated the power of Satan and death. This Easter we thank you that each one of us can have that new life in you. Help us to remember those special people who are like angels to us and give you thanks and Glory. Amen
