Ephesians 1:5-8a
Because of his love, God had already decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. That was what he wanted and what pleased him, and it brings praise to God because of his wonderful grace. God gave that grace to us freely, in Christ, the One he loves. In Christ we are set free by the blood of his death, and so we have forgiveness of sins. How rich is God's grace, which he has given to us so fully and freely.
You have made up your mind that tonight you finish your school work. You have pens, pad, books and a coffee on the table and you start. Your phone rings and you pick it up it's a friend and so you chat. 30 minutes later you are back to work. Then your brothers and sisters start shouting and fighting, using the diplomatic skills of a UN peace keeper and an hour and half of your time you finally sort them out. But you cannot concentrate, so you switch on the TV - that always helps. Well it helps you to concentrate on the TV and not your work. Before you know it the evening has gone and your schoolwork remains unfinished!
God has made up his mind to make you part of his family. This is something that he wants to do, the thought of you belonging to him, fills God with joy! And nothing will put God from this. Not even the slow painful death on a cross or the possibility that you will say "NO" to God's love. He has made a decision and he gives us his love in a wasteful and extravagant way, he wants you!
Today keep an eye out for friends who are enjoying each others company, for parents hugging a child or for couples arm in arm. As you see them, remind yourself that God wants you to come close to him.
