Ephesians 1:8b-12
God, with full wisdom and understanding, let us know his secret purpose. This was what God wanted, and he planned to do it through Christ. His goal was to carry out his plan, when the right time came, that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together in Christ as the head.
In Christ we were chosen to be God's people, because from the very beginning God had decided this in keeping with his plan. And he is the One who makes everything agree with what he decides and wants. We are the first people who hoped in Christ, and we were chosen so that we would bring praise to God's glory.
I call out my daughter's name and tell her that I have a secret to share, but she must come close, so I can whisper it in her ear. She comes to me and I whisper "Daddy loves you", I can see her smile and she gives me a hug.
God calls you close to him and he too has a secret to share, a secret that started before the beginning of time itself. And what is that secret?
That everything in the cosmos will come together in harmony in Jesus. And because you have come close to God you are already part of this massive plan.
We live in a world which likes to divide things up, to separate things. You can see it in science, but also in people. "If you are my friend, then you can't be their friend" The world loves to divide and separate, but God loves to unite and create harmony.
You are part of God's plan in bringing things together, so today be a peace maker. Try to bring some healing between broken friendships, it's not easy, but it is part of God's secret plan.
Help me today, to be the one who can bring harmony and peace between people. To be a peace maker.
