Psalm 68:17-20

God comes with millions of chariots; the Lord comes from Mount Sinai to his holy place. When you went up to the heights, you led a parade of captives.

You received gifts from the people, even from those who turned against you.

And the LORD God will live there.

Praise the Lord, God our Saviour, who helps us every day.
Our God is a God who saves us; the LORD God saves us from death.

We don't choose to put our faith in a God we imagine we'd like him to be - a God who obviously agrees with us. If it was like that, then we'd be kidding ourselves and living a lie. God is at the heart of all truth, which means he is there whether we acknowledge him or not. And thankfully, God never stops believing in us and our potential, however much we turn our backs on him.

Jesus said, "God is Spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth". Sometimes we badly wish God was visible to the physical eye, but actually there are lots of things we know are true and can't see. Like courage. Love. Compassion.

What we definitely CAN see is the effects of those things in the way people act and speak. Think of God's "millions of chariots" as his generous, more than adequate supplies of the grace we need for fighting evil and building good. With God's resources we don't need to worry and get ourselves into a panic.

Whatever your problems today God is there for you as the One who rescues and saves and helps you sort things out with maximum blessing for most people. Instead of worrying you can start getting excited about the way God will do his powerful and often very gentle work of healing.

The Lord is my shepherd - there is nothing else I need. Psalm 23
