Psalm 68:32-35
Kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord.
Sing to the one who rides through the skies, which are from long ago. He speaks with a thundering voice.
Announce that God is powerful. He rules over Israel, and his power is in the skies.
God, you are wonderful in your Temple. The God of Israel gives his people strength and power.
Praise God!
The more we learn about our solar system and our universe through scientific research and observation, the more we can sing praises to the Lord of all.
Nothing of our fresh discoveries is news to God of course. God knows it all already, and enjoys watching our curious exploring, rather like we enjoy watching someone unwrap a gift we've chosen and wrapped up specially for them.
It is an amazing universe we inhabit! The very iron in our blood was forged in the heart of stars. The sun expending its energy is what sustains life here on earth, and we feed on stored sunshine.
How wonderfully God provides for us.
The whole of the universe is an expression of God's love and energy, with humility which blows our minds, in the way God is content to work with creation instead of dictating. Whenever we look "up" to the skies we are really looking deep into the universe.
If we let ourselves lose touch with the natural world the danger is that we lose something of the wonder of God's creation.
Why not make a point today of doing a spot of cloud or star gazing? If it rains, marvel at God's intricate design and at gravity which straps us on to our planet as we peer out from it, and draws the raindrops towards the earth.
Don't be anxious that scientists will uncover something which threatens your faith - you worship the God of truth and reality, so you have no need to fear that. Just remember to look Godwards with thankfulness at every new discovery. Praise God!
As you walk through the world today, notice creation in a fresh way - as if you are seeing it all for the first time.
God will be accompanying you, don't forget, so talk over with God the things you notice and enjoy, and thank God for everything.
