Praying, Giving and Receiving - a special series for Lent on Matthew's Gospel, written by Peter Graystone
Matthew 7:24-25
[Jesus said,] 'Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.'
When crises come, long-standing habits of obedience to Jesus mean that we are prepared for difficulty - and that is where rock-solid strength can be found.
At this darkest moment of the Christian year, waiting for the resurrection, take the opportunity to make a decision that you intend to obedient to the Saviour, because he knows the way out of a grave.
Lord Jesus, in the dark times when all seems lost, help me to remember that you are there, never far away, and when I focus on you, nothing can overcome your resurrection power. Amen
