Ephesians 2:8-9
Saved by free gift of grace not works
Romans 4:4
Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as a debt.

Paul is making a clear distinction between gifts and wages. Using the analogy of working for wages, Paul again is confronting potential deceptions in this matter of gogly faith. If a man works for a certain wage and at the end of the day or week goes to the employer to get his paycheck, is it a gift or wages due? Obviously he is recieving what is due him. A paycheck is not a gift. This is something you have rightly earned. But we can not rightly earn our salvation.

If we attempt in any way to apply our works to our salvation, then the truth of the Gospel is defiled. There is only one work that we can depend on, and that is the work of Christ on the cross! What saves is faith in him; not anything you can do!

So, stop trying to do something and let God work his power through you!

The way I see it Christianity is a gift and it is our duty to perform what services we can as far as we can to he who gave us this gift.

Christ said that the meek will inherit the Earth and it is our part in all of this to serve him and through our actions bring as many into the fold as possible. It is not a job, but a way of life and a privilege to seek out those who bwill hear and obey.

I've often times have pondered just what is the true value of a good friend. We have the best of friend in Jesus and it is an honor being apart of his flock..

Works after salvation is required but they are the works of the Holy Spirit through you and not of your own, least you could boast!
