I am deployed to Iraq right now. I started playing guitar for the chapel here about 4 months ago and then started singing and leading worship about 3 months ago. I love it. It's the most rewarding thing I've done in my life and I want to continue with it so bad. My trouble is, I'll be going back to the States in about 2 1/2 months. Is it easy to get into a Praise and Worship leader position at a church? I wouldn't know because here sources are sort of limited so it's easy for me to just jump right into a leading position like that. Do most churches require college education on these kind of things? Is anyone out there a leader without an education in that field? If anyone could offer some insight to this I would really appreciate it.

I know this post was directed mainly to worship leaders, but to put ya at ease.... I don't think it's required to have a college education at all. Though Helpful!

I have a friend who had NO college experience, but is now leading worship at a church. She's not the Main leader, but one of them. I think most churches, especially who are desperate for a praise/worship leader, won't require a degree. Experience or any musical background, I would think, is mostly what they look for.

I would visit a church site, seeing you have i-net access, and even ask them via i-net. Ask questions and then maybe ask if they know of any church that needs worship leaders..

Just some ideas:)
