can one apply the perspective of WWJD to investigative journalism? or hacking for the truth? personally I think the time had come to be as Joshua, Samuel and so on to purge out evil...can't believe that Samuel hacked some evil clown to pieces, i can do this spiritually but in the physical??

I think one could only do such a thing if specifically called upon by the Lord to do it, as some of the judges of Israel were used by God to physically punish their enemies. I would guess the occurrences would be rare.

Well the phrase "What would Jesus do" is not in the Bible.

I'm not saying it does not have merit, but recognize it is not the word of God.

I believe as Christians we are to focus on WIJTUTD. Or "What is Jesus telling us to do."

This should be our focus. Remember, just because something needs to be done, it doesn't necessarily mean that God has chosen you as the one to do it.

Take the enslaved Hebrews in Egypt for example. I'm sure many wanted to rebel and riot against Pharaoh because this is WJWD( save his people). But God had chosen Moses to do the work of Deliverance.

Also depending on the situation comma God acts in totally different ways. For example there were times when God showed Mercy to people who sinned and there were other times where God commanded that they be stoned to death. So to Simply think about what would Jesus do, one may be misled and not act appropriately by hearing the voice of the Lord concerning what Jesus is actually telling them to do in that specific situation at that specific time.

uh....What is WWJD? Oh? What would Jesus Do? The question itself is good for one who wants to be an imitator of Jesus....He would have to go to the Word...Jesus.....to find out then he should do it. As to your question.....I'm lost...Spent time in Detroit then Chicago this week....I'm still fried.

Interesting question Robaston. Here is some Scripture that can be used instead of WWJD....2 Corinthians 10-5

3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Here's your question...."can one apply the perspective of WWJD to investigative journalism? or hacking for the truth?"....Journalism huh? I guess the original purpose of journalism was to go after the truth. Hacking? I'm not sure because there's always, IMO, evil attached to that word like computer hacking into private information.

Again, if Jesus would do it, I would follow.

Yes, usually, yes, but should you choose to be crucified on a cross of wood with nails driven through your flesh because Jesus did that?

"Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?

Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me." John 21:21-22

Both Peter and John followed Jesus, but both of them were not physically crucified as was Jesus. Jesus led them both, but the pathways of those two apostles were not exactly equal although they both led to the Light at the end. There are also different functions for different parts of the Body of Christ.

@robaston Would Jesus have done what Samuel did? If it was the will of the Father, most certainly! We must listen carefully to all that God says and then obey precisely all that He speaks to our heart.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: " John 10:27

If are not always listening and always obeying and always following, will we not then sometimes fall into a ditch?

amadeus, you mistake WWJD refers to us :)
Your initial question is a very difficult one to answer brother because it is hypothetical. If we really have Christ the Hope of glory in us, and we are paying close attention so as to hear correctly and obey correctly then we would do what Jesus would do, would we not? We should be in the same Spirit that Jesus was, but in our situation rather than his. That being the case our perfectly correct action would be exactly what Jesus would do...

Have I misunderstood something?

no, you're right in a wordy way :)

WWJD is a quick tool to apply to any situation we are in. For example, I am happily munching away at my dinnertime, and there suddenly is a very inconvenient knock on the door by a door-to-door salesman...what do we do? Jesus is our attitude, is it our action?

I understand very well. Many people do the same thing when a Jehovah's Witness or Mormon group comes to the door. I used to love their visits and I sometimes had some very fruitful discussions with them. Unfortunately no solicitors of any kind are permitted in the place we rent now. I don't miss the sellers of worldly goods, but I do miss those who would sell or share the things of God... even though they may have been sometimes amiss on a thing or two.

I think you are one of the nice people! hahaha.....i have little time for either, with a firm sorry, not interested. really Jesus was uncompromising but also compassionate for GENUINE people

Aye my friend there are GENUINE people everywhere in probably every religious group we could name. There are sometimes people who are hungering and thirsting after the righteousness of God and don't know where to look then there I am and God has put what they need in my mouth through the Holy Spirit.

I may be the only opportunity to hear the things of God that they ever receive.

WWJD applies 100% to any and every occasion imho. The thing is WWJD has to do with heart condition behind everything. Not so much the visible action. Jesus whipped people, was borderline sarcastic at times, defied the Pharisees and law.

WWJD... He always exalted Father God, not self.
It isn't WWJD, but rather WJD (what Jesus did).
Do we know Him, yet?
