......Sorry, I posted this in 'Arts' I'm not quite sure why it did that...I'm not really good at using forums!!)
Yesterday I was Baptised.
I nearly backed out at the last minute because I didn't 'feel ready' I wanted to be at a place in my life where I had dealt with some issues about my health first. Someone at my church said that Jesus just wants me to go as I am. So, I did!. I have given my life to Jesus. After all the years of searching different spiritual practices, the confusing mind field of various ways to find God, to find 'yourself' and searching science and history for answers, it all came together and Jesus tapped me on the shoulder so to speak and said "Look here I am, I've been here all the time!"
The truth of Jesus is so uncomplicated, so simplistic. I trust Jesus completely and it took a long time, years of searching, questioning, getting it wrong and finally finding him, or at least finding him waiting for me as he waits for everyone.
I'm continuing my research into archaeological, historic and scientific areas of the life of the universe and God and Jesus, this time though it's not to convince myself of his existence, or of the resurrection, this time it's to arm myself with knowledge for those who have difficulty in believing that there is a God and that Jesus is the Son of God. I never jumped on any band wagons of belief without testing and questioning, I was never an atheist, perhaps agnostic but always searching, experimental and hopeful. God knew this all along and he's paved a way forward that lead me by a series of synchronized events straight into the welcoming arms of Jesus.
Here's a nugget of info that helps to explain Genesis and other Biblical references to the creation. (I'm still learning my way through the scriptures.) Watching a lot of lectures and knowing your way around the non believers ideas is crucial to defending the case for God. -
The Hebrews had no translation for the word Universe, instead 'The Heaven and the Earth are the definitive terms used in the Bible. As well as in Genesis, it shows up nine times in the old testament and refers to the the totality of physical reality; Matter, energy. space and time. The description of how creation came into being (Genesis and throughout different places in the Bible verify and confirm the scientific development of the space time theories. The Bible had the information all along! Steven Hawkin and Roger Penrose published articles that explain how the universe contains mass. We are living proof of that and If the equations of general relatively describe the movement of bodies in the universe, the universe has a beginning that includes the beginning of space and time.- Hawkin was gloating in a subsequent publication that said he proved that time was CREATED. The non biblical religions say creation occurred WITHIN space and time- but the bible says, space and time did NOT exist until God created the universe (heaven and earth). Lawrence Crowse, another well known intellectual atheist whose theory that the universe came from nothing is no longer valid.
Hugh Ross, PHD, scientist said that Atheistic science no longer challenges the existence of God, but the existence of a 'personal' God. ,There is sooooo much more information like that I have read, data, evidence for not only the creation, creator and Christ, but for the resurrection and role of Christ. Super natural encounters (of which I have been blessed with aside, encounters are very personal, subjective and in the eyes of non believers don't count for much, for me, they count equally as much as the scientific evidence (science is definitely catching up) because it addresses both hemispheres of the brain, left and right, logical and abstract thinking. God is so clever!!
I am also astounded at how patient Jesus has been with me through my constant testing and see-saw of doubting. Even the amazing experience I had of seeing hands of light touch my head and heart and Jesus handing me a rose, and then the follow up, full colour image behind my eyelids of Jesus' profile smelling a rose and another of him throwing a fountain of water over me, (he was knocking and knocking at the door)...even these wonderful encounters had me question whether my mind had manifested something I wanted so dearly...(eyes roll) and Jesus with his wonderful patience and sense of humour topped it off one afternoon while I was deciding if Church was the right thing for me, and I needed MORE proof.... Standing in my kitchen undecided I turned on the radio and the lyrics of a Barry White song came out timely..."What will it take til you believe in me, the way that I believe in you?" Well....I smiled a big smile, told Jesus I was sorry for doubting....again, and thanked him and went to church...a little time later I was Baptised.
If anyone would like me to post more scientific data I'm happy to do so....I'm sure most people on here know some of it already, so let me know...
Thank you for reading and I love you, I love Jesus and now that I have Jesus in my life, I never want to lose him.
