some of you probably already know that but-God revealed himself to the prophets to Abraham Isaac and Israel and to the apostles in his name YHVH(Yehovah). in your prayers or praises.. do you use his name. (well i mean except halelu-YA). it seems to me and from reading some scriptures that its okay to refer to him in his name (not only the nicknames.. El Adonai Lord Malki-Zedek <which is usually referd to Jesus but okay> etc)
to know who is your God and not to think only about a power who have the title "God" to know who you pray to. To know who is listening to you, who sent his SON for U.
its some kind of taboo here to say the name. i think that if you are not saved it is a taboo. and it is some what imporant to me to remember that this is the God of my ancestors and more than that the one who is with me and keep me strong and sent his son to death instead i will have to. i think to start pray while using this name (but pronunce it probably this way:Yaweh- sounds similar.)
or also to use "E'ieh Asher E'ieh" (I am who I am <but in form of future like>) (which is belived by some people to be the meaning of the name though none really know but its what he told to moses to say to sons of israel in eygept when they will ask who is the God who save them)

please people tell me what you think and how you act and tell me isnt it important to you to know who is this God? (dont forget Paul told to the "monotheist" like greek who is the God they send oferings to)

Hello j4jh. In Gen.1 Elohim acts sovereignly , without council, fearfully creating the universe and then man in his image. Elohim, God, is infinitely great and above any restrictions the creation or man might place upon him. He is unquestionable, absolute, sovereign, fearful in might and power. In Gen.2 Yahweh Elohim is used. Chapter 2 deals with the man in the garden, naming animals, the fabrication of Eve from Adam’s side, the prohibition of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, on into the fall of man into sin, and the curse of death. Because in ch.2ff God sovereignly promises salvation in the seed of the woman, Yahweh becomes identified with the covenant name of God: I am a savior and there is no other. The name of God under which he freely out of love binds himself with an oath to undertake mans salvation. Always in the OT where the terms, requirements, and affections of the covenant are being emphasized the covenant name appears.

The universal flood in ch.6ff shows this same perspective. Under the name Elohim 2 of each animal kind is sent to preserve life, an unquestioned absolute provision of the owner lord and master of the universe. However, under the name Yahweh, 7 of the clean or sacrificial animals are provided for. Concern for the salvation covenant is more prominent in the narrative at that point.

Jesus Christ is the promise. His blood is the blood of the everlasting covenant. He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. As Luke says in acts 4:11-12, “This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” The name Jesus or Joshua means “Yahweh saves”. He taught us to pray “Our Father which art in heaven …etc.” And also to use his name in our petitions before his father’s throne. This I have done since I became a Christian.

So if i understand you correctly.. you say we should use the name of Jesus and not to pray to or say the name YHVH? also Jesus is not Joshua. Yeshua=salvation. Emanuel which is the name was given to him in one of the prophecies means the God is with us.
i didnt yet understand what your point of view totally but is it not to use YHVH or you see it as no important?
again i might to explain again what i mean. there was a greek cult who gave offerings to hidden/unknown GOD.. yet God-Elohim told to his followers he is YHVH ELOHIM YHVH one. also YHVH is the name of the father the holy ghost is the holy ghost or shekinah and El SHADAI-which we know today as Christ.

Matt. 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Jehoshua meaning Jehovah is salvation. Every time a Christian uses the name of Jesus he is using the name of God. The Alter to the Unknown God at Athens was a handy way Paul found to proclaim Christ and the resurrection to them: The God they didn’t know, the creator and Lord of the universe, Paul was declaring to them as he preached Christ and the resurrection. Paul was not taking up their pagan beliefs, but simply using their obvious ignorance of who God is to proclaim to them the error of their many alters and religious superstitions. The One True God they did not know. As Paul preached the Lord Jesus Christ to them, he was showing them who God is. The history of that alter in Athens is very interesting, as Athens had been providentially spared pestilential destruction yet they did not know why, for what, by whom, nor yet who received the sacrifice. They simply knew the means were Devine not human, so they dedicated an Alter to the God who they did not know who had spared their lives.

Here are some passages to consider:

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Colossians 1:14-16 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

yhvh was sent into this world by yhvh, the Son by the Father to manafest the Father: Is. 48:16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

YHVH tabernacled amoung us his name is Jesus. Jesus is the shikinah: Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

He is yet to come in the clouds and to judge the living and the dead.

first of all Jesus or Yeshua meaning salvation but finaly i understand what you mean in the first place. Jeoshua or Jeosha yes their meaning is the lord save. but his name is Yeshua which is not much that diffrent but still Yeshua is the salvation himself and it is like a short for the name but not really.
Yeshua is not the shekinah. shekinah is the holy ghost/spirit of God..

Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
1:15 WHO IS THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD, the firstborn* of every creature:
1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

*firstborn: pre-eminence in rank more than to priority in time. This can be shown in passages where the term 'firstborn' is used of the pre-eminent son who was not the eldest, e.g. Psalm 89:27, where David is called 'firstborn' although he was actually the youngest son.

"For in [Jesus] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

-- Isaiah 40:3

THESE PEOPLE DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT JESUS WAS GOD AND THOUGHT HE BLASPHEMED WHEN HE TOLD THE TRUTH.
"The Jews answered [Jesus], saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God."

-- John 10:33

Yeshua's name was Hellenized (translated into Greek) as Iesous then into late Latin as Iesus and finally into English@around 1580 into Jesus.

I am not saying that names are not significant, because I believe that they are. But if we're not careful we can lose sight of what is more important. Whatever you decide to call Yeshua, make Him your Lord. Some just want to call Him Lord but thats not enough, He must really be Lord.

it was will of GOD that NT should be written in greek for bible says about jews for rejecting HIS CHRIST

"Therefore I say unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to another nation bringing forth the fruits thereof." —
Matthew 21:43
and Jesus declared to the Jews, "Behold, your house is left desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord." (Matthew 23:38-39)

and isaiah 28: 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
1 Cor 14:21

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
1 Cor 14:21

so HE did talk with other tongues in acts at pentecostel day and NT was written in greak and its LORD doing, thu OT says jews r choosen race but Peter says in Christians r choosen ppl of GOD

"...ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people… Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God." (I Peter 2:9-10)
It was not by mistake that NT was written in greek like it was not by mistake theat OT was written in Hebrew, LORD is in control! it was His will, there is only one way to heaven for both jews and gentiles, and we humble ourself before GOD for all men sinned, there is nothing special about any one of us, all glory belongs to HIM for He is worthy, its all about HIM, HIS endless lover for us that He saved us from such a great death
Praise the LORD for HE is good!

"Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our God is a consuming fire." (Hebrews 12:28-29)

ok now i see none totally understood what i am saying. Jesus Yehusa whatever its not a taboo to say his name. i mean the name of the LORD the God the father. i mean about the name of him. and i dont see problem that the NT written in greek. anyway there is no such things as races. the jews were chosen in the time of the world of material to keep the commands and laws of the lords and observe them and to serve him and to be saved and clean from their sins and to have special stuff that the pagans didnt have! yet after christ came the high priest of above king of israel also and the ultimate and last sacrifice who accept him accept the father the God YHVH.
what peter say is that the ppl who have been saved are special but not in the physical material world. we have stronger conections and we are people by better connections than blood. in the spirit we are brothers and sisters and tribe and kingdom and people. the jews had those blessings for this world. the one who accept Christ have this blessings but better ones in this and next world.

Hi j4jh,

Jehovah is fine if you what to use that name for Almighty God. A lot of gentile believers refer to the Almighty as God most of the time. Although those who have been involved in some of the most recent revivals use the name Daddy or Daddy God, or heavenly Daddy of what ever the equivalent in their native language is. I suppose it is the gentile equivalent of Abba.

I've got a Hebrew New Testament about somewhere, I'll have to look up what words they use for God in that.

Anyway if you search it out you'll find Jesus is the way to the Father and when you approach the Father in prayer, worship etc you come through the Son, Jesus. Basically it's just acknowledging your position in Christ and as you do your through to Abba Father. Have a look at John's gospel chapter 14 through to 17 if you what to if you what to pursue this line of inquiry further.

Blessings,
Tonyb
