"Know that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commands. Deuteronomy 7:9 CSB
Under the new covenant of grace, we are not bound to obey the law of Moses to have God’s blessings. But the principles of the law are eternal, because God is. He doesn’t change, so why would His Word? So, because of grace, we obey His commands, particularly as summed up by Jesus: to love God with all you are and to love others as He does.
Because Jesus fulfilled the law, we can look at God’s commands to Israel and find His heart in them. We see that He is holly, but that His holiness compels Him to take care of those who love Him—to the extent of building a bridge over the chasm of sin that separates us from Him.
Our part is to offer God the only offering He truly wants in response to His great sacrifice: our thoughts, dreams, deeds, and desires. His loyalty to us is unquestionable, and when we respond in kind, His faithfulness will shape us into the best versions of ourselves—someone only He can see right now, but someone worth the effort and the wait.
Prayer: Great is Your faithfulness, God Almighty. You remain the same, now and forever, and You deserve all of me. Here I am, Lord. Shape me as You will.
