A wind before death?

Maureen I don't have the answer for you but a scripture comes to my mind and it might have nothing to do with what you are talking about.

The scripture is 1 King 19:11

When the Lord told Elijah to go and stand upon the mount before the Lord, and a wind came, then a earthquake came, and a fire and God was not in none of it. And after the fire ,a still small voice came which was the Lord.

But there are other scriptures of the wind. Maybe if you have an concordance you can look up the word wind and read about it.

But maybe this will only be reveal at a certain time, a confirmation to someone.

thank you Trisha
the words i've underlined bold, make sense to me regards this wind.
I think people would have us believe it is of God when perhaps it really isn't.
The devil can be so cunning, we must be careful.
Oh that the Lord Jesus would keep us awake to these things.

Hrm.

Maureen,

I don't believe anyone has the power or the authority to declare a person officially saved or unsaved when they die because each of us has until the very last conscious thought to repent and receive Christ.

That lady may have been unsaved when she last spoke a word or uttered a sound, but who's to say she didn't repent and receive Christ a few seconds before her death?

SLE

I'd have to agree that *cold* usually means demonic. It wouldn't surprise me if the Devil pops up looking familiar "a familiar spirit" to seduce unbelievers away in their last moments. The anguish/shock/betrayal of following a "loved one" through the gates of death only to realize you're in Hell would be just the kind of thing I'd expect from Satan.

But I'm also really hesitant to say that anyone is unsaved no matter how bad their lives were. It's not up to me to say for sure what was in their hearts, whether they were "practicing Christians" or not.

I've always been awfully confused about that anyway because the Bible said it is appointed to everyone "once to die ...and THEN...the Judgement."

Coupling that with the fact that Revelations seems to mention that ALL the dead (saved and unsaved) are resurrected to either be raptured or to go through the Great Tribulation and final Judgement (a total of 5 judgements if you start with the Rapture as 1 and then count forward)...and I've always wondered just when, excactly the 11th hour might be for some people...NOT that I think you should drag your feet...but still.

At any rate, I can't find any story in the Bible where angels come to take someone away at death. The closest you get are the "taking away" of Enoch and Elijah (the myth that Mary the mother of God was similarly taken is not scripturally based).

I can understand not wanting to comment on a persons spiritual condition at the point of death, although we have those we know who are saved and have known them by their walk, when they depart we know for sure they will be with the Lord.

Why therefore is is differant for a person we know the same who we also know didnt have time for the things of God while they were alive, because we think of last minute conversions, but again when we know that no conversation took place, why are we hesitant to say otherwise, because we are not to judge the unsaved?

It would be an advantage to use this senario to encourage family members that they may see her again in heaven, if only they too were born again.

Only Jesus will know and we may be pleasantly surprized who we find in heaven.

Hedging my bets

Well for my part, I'll be certain who is in Hell when I'm standing in Heaven looking for people I know and missing people...but not before.

One exception would be if God were to *tell* me "That one is not of My flock - get away from him now!"

And I *have* heard words of warning that strong spoken right into my tiny terrified ear once ... and I fully believe it saved my life because the person it was spoken of is *still* in jail for many dark and violent things. If I get to Heaven and find him there, I'm gonna be a bit surprised...but then again he wouldn't be the first criminal to find God behind bars so who knows.
