We should not ignore this fact, the Jews have collected lots of money to build their Third Temple! And that's not the only thing they did, actually they've invested that money in prefabricated pieces they can assemble whenever they get the permit or grant or support to build it! So it won't take long before they could finish it and they started sacrificing animals the way the OT law required of them.

ABOMINATION — anything that offends the spiritual, religious, or moral sense of a person and causes extreme disgust, hatred, or loathing. Among the objects described as an “abomination” were the carved images of pagan gods (Deut. 7:25–26), the sacrifice to God of inferior, blemished animals (Deut. 17:1), the practice of idolatry (Deut. 17:2–5), and the fashioning of a “carved or molded image” of a false god (Deut. 27:15; Is. 44:19).

Because of Revelation 13:14-15 about the "image of the beast" for the end instituted by the "another beast" (beast king), we are therefore given an example of a literal IDOL abomination established for the end also.

The LORD used Babylon as a symbol in Revelation for the end, and what the historical king of Babylon did was to setup a gold idol image of himself, and demand that all bow in worship to it at the sound of the psalter (music instrument), or be killed. The prophets of Babylon put Nebuchadnezzar up to that in order to trap Daniel and his fellows, because they knew Daniel and his fellows would refuse to bow to it.

Thus at the end of Revelation 13 with the "another beast", we have another example of that for the end of this world.

What Antiochus Epiphanes did in 170-165 B.C. was to take Jerusalem with an army, and then ended the Jew's daily sacrifices, and then went inside the 2nd temple and sacrificed swine upon the altar, and spread its broth around inside that temple, and then setup an 'idol' abomination to Zeus in false worship, and demand that all bow to it.

The final Antichrist represented by the "vile person" of Daniel 11 will come to power as king using flatteries instead of war, and will do likewise as Antiochus did within a new Jewish temple in Jerusalem. I strongly believe the false worship pattern given in Ezekiel 8 to Ezekiel by vision is a blueprint for the end, because in next Ezekiel 9 chapter it points to judgement starting at God's House of all those who have not the 'mark' representing Christ's cross (Tau, last Hebrew letter represented as a 'cross' in ancient Hebrew characters).
