Abortion And Rape

After watching the 180 movie posted by
the lovely 'property of God' I decided to dive
deep into the question many people ask concerning
abortion that even some Christians say is ok for abortion:
"What if a woman is raped? I think this would be an
exception."

Here are some articles I found that state this
very well why abortion never made the problem
go away for many women, but instead made the
problem worse. Abortion is never an answer.

Abortion - Pro Life - Rape and Abortion
Abortion and Rape
Abortion is not the answer - The Tech

Some key points from the articles I would like to
post here:

For example, it is commonly assumed that rape victims who become pregnant would naturally want abortions. But in the only major study of pregnant rape victims ever done, Dr. Sandra Makhorn found that 75 to 85 percent chose against abortion. This evidence alone should cause people to pause and reflect on the presumption that abortion is wanted or even best for sexual assault victims.

"Many women report that their abortions felt like a degrading and brutal form of medical rape," he writes — involving "a painful examination of a woman's sexual organs by a masked stranger who is invading her body … while she lies there, tense and helpess, the life hidden within her is literally sucked out of her womb. The difference? In a sexual rape, a woman is robbed of her purity; in this medical rape she is robbed of her maternity."

The victim should be helped, and the rapist should be punished. But to say the child should be killed is to punish the wrong person. Suppose your father committed a terrible crime and the police came to your home, arrested you, and had you sentenced to death? The unfairness of that is obvious. Yet that is the same unfairness that occurs if a child conceived by rape is aborted.

Of all the abortions performed in America, fewer than 1% are because of rape.

I encourage you to read all the articles and
educate yourself on this issue that many fail
to study themselves. I myself have even said that
I don't believe in abortion, except in rape cases, but
now that I am informed, I know that abortion is not
the solution and is not right no exception!

This does not seem to hard.

I have to ask....... Is me not being inconvenienced, Worth someone Else's Life?

That is why murders occur, right? Someone wants someone else out of the way.

I saw on the news an Eleven year old girl get raped, and pregnant.
Having a Child at that age puts the child in grave danger. There is a list of things that can go wrong, including death.

Where is this line drawn?

Jesus Is Lord.

That is a great question and one that is brought up
in a couple of the articles. I found the paragraph
and this is what it says:

In the rare event when a woman's life is threatened by a pregnancy, the situation can only be resolved by making the best possible effort to save the life of both patients. If a pregnant woman has a cancerous uterus, for example, then it must be removed, but not with a curette or a suction machine by an abortionist. The child's death, if it occurs when preserving the mother's life, must only occur as the unfortunate failure of attempts to save it, after it has been removed, not as a deliberate act of abortion.

Thank you for sharing......

Thank you for sharing that Article...... but if I am 11 years old, and talking to you........... being pregnant, and in danger as the baby grows.

What do you say Dannibear??? Not some article.

Jesus Is Lord.

You didn't quite clarify that at first. Sorry.

At first I really wouldn't know what to say
because of the shock of the situation. That
isn't something many people who are sheltered
from the world hear on a daily basis.
Mary Calderone, states that "it is hardly ever
necessary today to consider the life of a mother as
threatened by a pregnancy." With modern medicine
and research, any woman can get safely through a pregnancy.
But even with modern medicine and research, sometimes
pregnancy can be a threat to a mother's life.
I and anyone interested in her pain and her struggles
could try to support her to continue the pregnancy
as long as possible. I do believe in miracles Mike.
Especially since I am a living breathing person that
would have been aborted due to what doctors said would
be permanent brain damage since my own mother did
drugs and alcohol while pregnant with me. I am here
today typing away though, only by God's hand in it.

Her problems are heart breaking and the healing
will be slow. To her, she is alone. She needs to hear
that God was there the moment it happened. God
is here now. Isaiah 41:10
He has given to her people who will cross her path
to help her, support her, hold her in this time.
A crisis pregnancy center would be of much help
at this time. Additional support may be needed
if her parents choose to make the decision not to
abort the baby, hard. There will be that rare time
that her life is in danger because of the pregnancy,
and having an abortion will not be an easy choice.
When she chooses to abort her child as an alternative
to the child growing up without their mother, I will
respond with love. I am not a mother myself, so I can't
imagine the pain of losing a child. I can't imagine what
it's like to not even get to hold them. Her grief will be
overwhelming and she will remember the experience.
John 14:27 Hebrews 11:1 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
This is comfort I can show her.

It is not only the words that would matter but the action
I take for someone in pain. I have lost many friends. Not
children. It was hard enough them being my friends,
I can't fathom the pain if they were my child. I know that
in that time, I didn't want "I am sorry for your loss" I
wanted someone to check on me everyday, I wanted
someone to tell me I would see them again, I
didn't want to be alone. A girl who is in much pain
and sorrow, if I could cross paths with them, I would
make sure was hardly alone. I feel love for this
person thinking about them. Wherever she is, I don't know.

Thanks for posting this Dannibear. Its a good question.

Aborting a child of rape would be like executing a person because his cousin murdered somebody. Why punish the innocent? The child was not even there when the poor girl was raped.

I would be all for the death penalty for the rapist though.

Who pays for it.....

We can rant about the Evil's of Abortion, but what can we really do about it?

Let's say we got Abortion to be illegal?

Fine and good, but now who pays the bill for all those unwanted babies?

Just raising one child, with Diapers, food, doctor visits, Day care (400.00 month alone) the cost is just unfathomable.

Talk is cheap, our moral issues mean nothing without the ability to back it up.

This is why I get a little upset inside when I see Christians putting down Pastors with Jet planes, and big houses.

Putting down Prosperity of the Lord, and have the nerve to even mention something about Abortion. Really?

God put all this wealth on the planet for his people!!! Not the devil and his bunch. What is a jet, or big house when our father lives on streets of pure Gold? It's nothing!!!

My hope is that enough of us wake up from this poverty mindset, get in the plan of God and prosper in Wealth as the Lord intended his people to prosper.

If they want to kill babies still, then we can boldly say "Hey!!! No need for that, Let the children live and bring them to us, we more than got this, and they will be raised mighty and Godly Children.

Jesus Is Lord.

I hope you don't think I was mocking those
who had wealth. Or any other posts. :\
I agree that those who are being led by the Spirit to
adopt should look into the option. I know I certainly
am. I very much want to adopt a little girl
from a country where women aren't valued so I can
save her from thinking that she is worthless, but
rather, is valued by God. I made the mistake of thinking
the same of myself based on my family and friends,
I don't want another little girl thinking the same.

Wife and I had this conversation.

I hope you don't think I was mocking those

No, not at all. Just posting with nobody in mind, but those that receive.

We spent a million or so on a children project over sea's, Our Church sends it out as it comes in. It does not even scratch the surface though it's in the millions.

Spent close to 3 million to carry the gospel in the south pacific for a boat to visit the family's on all those islands that never even heard about Jesus.

Money no matter how much does not last long when you look at what is needed. That is why I dislike the thinking of poverty minded Christians.

A certain denomination has close to 30 billion in assets. Yet only 4% goes out. Their own kids are well taken care of, nice Christmas programs and school... why hoard it???? I am not the judge, but I question.

Jesus Is Lord.

Nice one

Very true. Many, especially those that don't believe
in the Truth based on their view of Christians distrust
churches, and don't set foot in one because of issues
like money. There are of course other concerns people
have. Money though, is constantly brought up.

why hoard it? Good point. Money is like water. If it flows it stays fresh and can bring life. It can help many people. If it is dammed up...It grows stagnant and breeds disease. Or sin.

We have the movie and have watched it several times, it is really thought ppprovoking to say the least.

Being male brings up strong feelings and very angry emotions to the surface. When I hear a woman was raped, I can easly think of several ways to punish the beast that did such an intolerable act. Having three daughters and my bride of 43 years I have given the "what if" quize to myself several times. Most men worth their salt would want to react to such a scum bag that would harm a woman they knew.

But carry the rape a lot further and say the woman was pregnant from the rape is a huge challenge to face. With all that is holy inside me I do believe that abortion is taking a life. With all that is holy within me I could not judge a woman who took a morning after pill after the rape. I can understand the husbands hurt if he could not raise the child after the birth of a chilllllllld that came from rape.

I can also see that it would take so much of the Love of God to overcome the emotions of women and men to see the love that goes beyond human emotions to raise and love a chilld conceived by rape.

Make myself clear and fully understood it is never a womans fault that some inhuman male would rape a woman. There would never be enough physical punishment by casteration or any other way that could make up for such a evil wicked deed dome to a woman.

I am by nature a kind soul, not inclined to do harmful physical things. However for someone to outright by choice my family and a mother panther woullld have to take a back seat to me. There are expectations of a man to protect and provide for his family, I believe this to be basicly Biblical. :secret:

Brother Mike: are you serious? I sure hope you are just fooling when you say that there is nothing wrong with pastors having big houses, and jet planes. I sure don't think Jesus had many things of the world. Did Jesus not send the 12 out with no monet or extra clothes, or food. Only few so called ministers have the items you mentioned and I sure do have a huge problem with false teachers and phoney preachers. In my ministry nerver did anyone ever think I was even close to much above upper lower class. If you are seriopus about the jest planes and big houses please give an example of some pastor that needs one.

Money.

Is owning a car to get to the store, do things we want to do any different than a jet plane?

The difference is in how much we value money. A high value on money would make a jet plane way to expensive, a low value would mean the plane would have little value.

How much is to much? Who sets the limits?

Judas thinks about the things of the Lord the same way. Money had a great value to him as he carried their money bag they gave to the poor out of.

Mar 14:4
And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
Mar 14:5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

That perfume today, just dumped on Jesus feet would be worth 10-34 thousand dollars today. Just dumped.

I suppose you would have had a issue if you were with Jesus that day.

Jesus sent them out with, and without, you forgot the other time he sent them out with Swords.

God's people should have the best, the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the Just.

Jesus Is Lord.

The Bible in Psalm 139 says verse 13 For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

No matter how the child was conceived God sees them as more than just cells and easy to be rid of. This is true for any and all "little ones" no more matter what the gender, color of skin, ethnicity, etc etc. God sees us all as His creation and to play God and say that the life isn't important is wrong.

Women/teens who have had an abortion have killed millions of children world wide. People always talk about how bad it was if abortion was illegal. Do you know how long it takes for a couple wanting to adopt a child to receive one? It takes years. I'm not sure if it has to do with the number of available newborns or the paperwork, etc, but I have heard that the number of newborns available is less than that of the number of couples wishing to adopt.

Is the fact that abortion is legal make it okay to have one? Does it mean that since something is legal God sees it as okay?

I can not fathom being 11 years old and being pregnant. I could not have had that happen to me physically if you know what I mean. :S How many women/girls who are raped get pregnant? We can't really know the number. Not all rape victims report it.

Don't those who report it usually are given the "pill" just in case so that they don't get pregnant? Not that I would take it myself if I had a choice, but I don't know what I would do if I was raped. We can't really know until it happens.

I do know though...someone who was raped has to be very strong to carry the baby full term and then to either give it up for adoption or keep it.

I've heard that those who have been raped getting an abortion traumatizes them. I heard it from radio commercials, radio talk, and other places.

There is a whole generation that is missed because of this "addiction" to abortion. God has a special place in His heart of these children even if we (all of humankind) do not.

yes abortion is wrong

it is murder

no excuses

and wealth and money and cost to society are not excuses

it is wrong

I do NOT believe in abortion. Granted there may be some cases that perhaps it could be medically necessary. My sister who is one yr. older than I (49) when she was 14 was raped, people kept telling her to abort or give it up for adoption, but she refused & she kept the baby & that baby is now grown, loves the Lord, had 7 yrs. of college is married to a lawyer & they have two beautiful children & when she was born our family had not only gone through the rape of my sister at that time, but another major event happened around that same time, so when this child was born, she was a blessing to our ENTIRE family and still is to this day!
Also, when I was 23 I got pregnant out of wedlock. The man who is the biological father of my now 25 yr. old son I knew had a past, but did not realize just how much of a past he had until I was 6 months pregnant and he was arrested for a hidious crime & went to prison & there I was all alone & pregnant. Everyone tried to get me to abort the baby & I refused, first off because I don't believe in abortion, 2nd off because I felt that the Lord showed me a vision of my son preaching from behind a pulpit one day. I after that had people prophesy & ask me if I knew I had a preacher in my stomach. I said; "Yes I do!" And I raised him in church & taught him how to have a one on one relationship w/Jesus Christ. Today my son has gone to 3 yrs. seminary college & is now is in his 4th yr. of public college to be able to also do counceling as well he has been on the Deans list every yr. of both colleges. And, a yr. ago he was asked to take a church out in Connecticut and he did. He is married to a beautiful young lady (whom i love dearly to say the least) she is not only beautiful on the outside but is very beautiful on the inside as well, which makes her most unique! My son has traveled the world as missionary also. With God & my sons persauna, he has reached people that others cannot reach. There is so much to tell how God has used this young man for His glory. When he was young he had ADHD people told me that he would end up just like his father & would never amount to nothing. People were even so cruel as to tell him this as well. I would put people in their place when they talked negative against my son and ALWAYS ALWAYS told my son that he WAS a SOMEBODY! To this day my son tells me that that is what kept him going cause he says he knew I would never lie to him. As he aged his ADHD left him (Gods healing touch:). He is very calm now. I had a test done twice when he was growing up (as refered by doctors) to test his I.Q. because doctors were amazed at how smart he was. The test both times, showed he had the I.Q. of Einstein!
I share these stories in hopes that they may one day help some mother out there contemplating abortion or a child that feels like he/she is a nobody.

Wealth and money no excuse.

In the U.S 3,500-4,000 babies are murdered each day. That is 1,277,500 Murders each year.

There is no hard numbers, but at any given year in the U.S about 600,000 people have at least filled out papers to look into adoption, about 2% of these actually go through with the whole process.

That leaves about 700,000 murdered babies that would need a home and place to live. Hopes would be to convince at least half of these to keep the babies if proper instruction was given.

If we can accomplish that, then we have 300,000 babies that still need homes.

amanda123
and wealth and money and cost to society are not excuses
No excuse Amanda? You have all the answers then, and financial backing to make that happen? Or you just talking with no power to do a thing about it?

As Christians we need to get off the soap box which is powerless, and come up with real solutions. It's wrong, it's murder, it's against God, accomplishes nothing.

Faith without works is dead!!!!

It takes time, energy, and resources to make things happen, Talk is cheap without corresponding action.

Anyone wanting to take their time to be faithful, never missing a prayer group to pray for these that are wrongly murdered? To never quit until it's done?

Anyone want to start a fund to help some of these mothers make the right choices?

Anyone?

Jesus Is Lord.

If one feels that they cannot afford to raise the child, then instead of abortion at least give the child life and a chance by placing it up for adoption. There are so many good people out here left in this old world who would LOVE to have a child, that would make wonderful parents! So finances should not EVER be a factor considered in birthing the said child.
