Activist Judge Strikes Down Ban On Homosexual Marriage

Hate the sin, but love the sinner!

It is a sin to practice homosexuality. We should not condone such practices, but we should reach out to those who are involved in this lifestyle. It is a balancing act I know. I hope that this sin is not seen as normal. However, the bible does talk about it the last days that all kinds of evil would become more "normal". I guess we are in those times.

Why is it our responsibility as Christians to force Christianity down the throats of Americans?

An unchristlike attitude. Show me show is "Forcing" Christianity down anyone's throats. I'd like to see this.

Also, what is [your] take on this?

Matthew 6:9-11 (New King James Version)

9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.

What do you think Jesus meant when He said "Your will be done"? Do you think it was a Christian's choice issue of what this referred to or a general statement - literally His will be done, period. Yes? No?

My two cents

I feel calling fevoldj a non-believer because he (or she, I didn't look carefully) doesn't agree with your opinion is wrong. I think we have to be careful when we call someone's faith into question.

Also, I have a hard time with our country making laws against tax-paying, law abiding citizens. You may argue on the side of morality, or Christianity for the benefit of this forum, but when our country (representatives) doesn't act morally consistent, how can we allow them to speak for us in a supposedly moral way?

Perhaps if they were called civil unions, we wouldn't have this problem hmmmm?

This makes no sense at all. Why would you need the representatives to speak on behalf of believers? Are believers not able to speak up for themselves? This would be called "body of Christ" or church that voices its belief. You have a hard time accepting that the country makes laws against "law abiding" citizens? What laws are these? If you have an issue with them, go voice your opinion like a "citizen", vote.

Chiming in again

What doesn't make sense? Those representatives speak on our behalf everyday as an American citizens. I do vote, however, the best person for the job doesn't always win, or run for that matter. The laws I speak of, are any laws that limit the rights of tax-paying, law-abiding citizens. A ban on homosexual marriage is a limitation of rights. Unless we wish to live in a country where religion rules our government (a theoracy), our government has no business making laws which limit the rights of it's citizens in such a way.( Note: Please spare me any arcane arguments about laws intended to protect individuals or the public safety.)

As far as this judge being activist, I respectfully disagree. She wouldn't have ruled on something if a case hadn't been brought before her and that is her job to look at existing laws and intrepret them in regards to cases brought before her. I think with all the rhetoric being tossed around these days, people are being deluded of the actual role and responsibilities of those in the judicial branch of our government. Judges do not make laws, but intrepret them and rule accordingly. It is the same as it was back in the Old Testament. People came to the judges then with their grievances just as they do now.

However, with all that being said, I think we need to pray and ask God to deliver those caught up in sinful lifestyles and show love as Christ commands of us.

GOD created humans to love Him and obey Him. He did not create us to sit on our rears and watch evil grow, then make excuses to why we do not do something about it but wait selfishly for heaven to come down on us. How disgusting.

Its complete nonsense to dare say we limit the rights on gay people if we ban gay marriage. What kind of comment is that? We are banning evil actions (gay marriage), somehow this "limits" human rights? If you people refuse to stand up against evil laws, then so be it but don't expect to be pampered by GOD on Judgment day just because you called yourself a believer. A believer does more than just talk. He or she puts to actions and preaches the gospels which includes rebuking any evil such as gay lifestyles, gay marriages.

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' "

John 6:57-59
57Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever." 59He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

1 Corinthians 6:8-10
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
