Another Look at Hebrews 6: 4-6

This scripture scares me sometimes. I know at times I do stumble and fall, but I also know that when I am actively sinning, the Holy Spirit is screaming at me to stop and repent. I believe this is where grace comes in. God could easily throw all of us into the fire (and we deserve it), but he chooses not to. Even when we stumble and sin (we all do), Jesus is always there beside us. He doesn't leave and that is where my hope lies.
Your exactly right!
Here in scripture, "falling away" is returning to Apostasy or all out rejection of Jesus Christ, which is not possible for a true born again Christian.
Jesus is always there beside us. He doesn't leave and that is where my hope lies.
Yes, how does one fall away from a God like this?

I think this scripture is telling us that the very idea of falling away is absurd and shows a misunderstanding of what the atonement accomplished.
Falling away requires time and eternal life is timeless life.

If you think you can fall away then you think you saved yourself.

  • Well, it is absurd. I believe "Falling Away" refers to Apostasy, all out rejection of Jesus Christ. How is that possible for a true "Born Again" Christian, when God said he would never leave or forsake you and Jesus said that he would never lose anyone God gives him. How do you fall away from a God like that?
  • I believe the writer of Hebrews was telling believers that it was impossible for them to fall away. Those "falling away" were in fact non believers like those in 1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

Yes, and how unstable and boring is anything not like that.

I agree, although if they really are of us they will get bored and or unstable and they will return,we being stuck in time can't judge the person
except to judge the potential of Christ in them.Instead of seeing sinners we can focus on the seed of God and maybe even give that seed a cup of water.
Sometimes real sheep get stuck in ditches and even up in trees and someone needs to seek them out and remind them of who they really are.
