ARE WE TO JUDGE?

I taught that any man like chuck messler who teaches bible code and was not supported by one biblical teacher (who wrote a book in the bible) makes his teachings not only unbiblical but demonic too......

Someone has said: who are you to judge a godly man? - I believe thats how it went...

So people are we to judge? Yes we are, just as were to expose false teachers to the flock....

Does the verse say: thou shall not judge? No it doesnt.. it says:

Thou shall not judge LEAST YOU BE JUDGED IN LIKE MANNER...

So God lays out right and wrong for Believers......and when we see any man or women doing right or wrong were to look to Gods word and know them by the fruit they produce... we are making judgement calls on them, we are judging.....but by Gods definition of right and wrong which means God is judging them - not that we are God but if we judge a man doing wrong by Gods outline then God also condemns that mans fruit....so likewise when we are judged we as believers want to be judged in a Godly manner just as we have judged....

Thou shall not judged least you be judged in the same manner

Now which of you believers want to know men by their fruits and also be judged in a Godly manner? that means Only God judges you..... and them

Actually that's not true at all.
Every single time you judge another, you bring judgement on your self.

You point out faults, you are going to be judged on your faults .

Why not include the rest of the verses with this. Like judge yourself and get your faults fixed then you can minister to others in helping them.

Exposing false teachers?
Who are you to judge God's servants?
It is God who will make them stand or not.

Note: it's your enemy the devil who gets judgment on you. Once he does then he has an open door.
Why do you think you get all these judgmental thoughts in the first place?
They come from the one who wants to bring judgement on you.
Yep satan knows how to use God's word against you.

Judge others? Hardly!! Judge yourself.
Blessings to you and your family

this is a great topic and one that has much confusion to it. First I will say we are to use judgement in all situations just as you say TOM but as far as judging others the bible seems to give us a choice to it says if you think you are perfect sure go ahead and judge others but as Jim says when you do this you better be perfect because you are going to be judged in the same way. So me knowing that I am not perfect and knowing that I probably cant even see areas wear I need improvement I try not to judge anyone , matter of fact I pray to God to take my judging attitude away from me as I seem to have a issue with it.

Matthew 7:1-5
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

So in summary if you want to judge good luck I hope you are perfect, me I know i am not perfect and do not want to be judged so I will not judge. But yes God does give us a choice and explains to us the consequences of our choice I love you Jesus.

Ephesians 5:11
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

Great thread would love to here from some others on this topic l

Amen @Dave M ,
Thank you for your Honesty and putting the Truth of the matter out there.

You said you pray that God would take your judging away, me took!

Here is what I learned ,
He Will do just that - However it takes a Willing Heart and we must be willing to be Willing and act on what He shows us.

Wow Dave I tell you this, simple things, big things, little things that we over look are all things He will show you .

Ever been around a group of people and they begin talking about some one and talking about how they messed up or are living wrong etc?
Then they ask what you think about it.
If we add our 2 cents then we are guilty of judging them.

Dave, keep seeking God in this and never lose that heart of yours. It will Free You.

Any way my apologies for going on like this, it's just exciting and rewarding to allow The Father to show us these things and get free.

Blessings to you and your family

There is a difference in what we are saying here.
Judge? or in truth are we seeking to confirm their message as being from God, which would have us seeking to make sure it is in accordance with His Word.

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily [to find out] whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men. Acts 17:11-12

We can receive a persons message readily, but we should make sure by being diligent in our searching on whether it be true or not. Those in Berea (v10) found it to be true or "many" would not have believed what was being told to them. If false their message then assuredly others would be told so as to be warned of this deceptive message. Don't ridicule the man, but make it understood kindly and gently that the message is false! Leave the man to his own day of judgment.

As brother Dave provided verse: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose [them]. Ephesians 5:11

What I'm about to write I also posted contextually as part of a reply to a person who seeks to understand Numerology and if it were acceptable. I understood what the person was attempting to say. The observation I made was to point out is that we in attempting to codify Scripture or Creation and we wind up back to words in explaining what is that was found. I find that a bit ironic to say the least when we already have His Word :)

Man's attempts to utilize what God has provided in order to seek a greater mystery outside of what God has already given us, becomes at times more important then what God has already chosen to provide us. When we start moving in this direction, is when involvement with mysticism, and even occult practices occur. We find it difficult to believe that there are certain things that God would protect us from delving into. So, we go our own way almost without realizing it, seeking another understanding besides the one that is right in front of us.

Maybe, it's just hard for some who are believers to accept that no matter the evidence, there will be many who will not believe. So, if the Word of God as it is won't do it, maybe, we can find something that will convince them that is hidden within. This mindset is wrong. It is better to seek Scripture to explain Scripture.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

"Judge" can be a clumsy and imprecise word.

We should always be judicious - for example when we are faced with a decision about who to trust, whose advice we seek, or what company to keep. That's a matter of wisdom.

We should never be Judgemental, which is when a person puts themselves on a higher moral plane than others, and condemns or despises those below. That's a matter of pride and hypocrisy.

There is nothing wrong with judging, just like there is nothing wrong with a gun. There is good judging by someone and bad judging by someone. Plain and simple. It was in the garden that we learned to Judge, but we dont have the wisdom and the depth and breadth of God to be a Good Judge ALL the time. Judge others in the way you would like others to judge you. You will be judged AS you judge others.

We are to test the spirits to see if they are of God. We are to expose the fruitless deeds of darkness and warn against false teaching and false prophets and teachers, etc. And, scripture teaches that we are to judge those within the church. If we see a brother or a sister caught in sin, we who are spiritual are to restore him or her, but in an attitude of meekness. We are to snatch people from the flames, etc. We also make judgments every day about what to do or where to go and what is right and what is wrong.

Where scripture cautions against judging it is speaking primarily of false judging, like not judging hypocritically, or not judging by human understanding or by human traditions, or not judging in order to condemn. Our judging should always be for the purpose to help people, such as to warn against false teachers and false teaching, or to lead someone out of sin into the light of truth. Jesus and the NT apostles provide us with many examples of the right kinds of judging and of the wrong kinds, either by what they taught or by how they lived.

We need to be careful in reading these scriptures on the subject of judging others that we read them in context. Such as many people quote Matthew 7:1-2 but not verses 3-5. In verses 3-5 is where we realize that this is speaking of hypocritical judging. If we are going to judge another, then first we need to take the log out of our own eye and then we can see clearly to take the speck out of a brother's or a sister's eye.

So many people today are stressing this whole thing of not judging others to keep people silent with regard to addressing serious sin within the church. They are teaching that we need to "stay in your own lane," etc. And, sin is now rampant within the church, even among the leadership, because they are teaching we should not judge one another. And, that is where 1 Co. 5 comes into play which is where the church is scolded because they had serious sin going on within the church that they were doing nothing about and yet they were proud. And, that is where we are told that we are to judge those within the church, not in condemnation and not in hypocrisy and not by human standards, which is how it is typically done, but by the Word of God, and in love, and for the purpose to deliver people out of their sin and to turn them back to God.

Love cares enough about people to address sin in their lives. Love lays down one's own reputation in order to see others go free from sin and to walk in freedom. This is what Jesus did, and it is what his NT apostles did, which is why they were hated and persecuted. If we never talk with anyone about their sin and of their need to repent or we never test the spirits to see if they are of God or we never warn of false teachers and false teaching, then we won't be hated and persecuted. This is what it means to "stay in your own lane." But, Jesus didn't put us on this earth to stay in our own lane, but to love one another enough to give of our lives for them to see them go free from their slavery to sin and to walk in righteousness.

I understand what you are saying. But i often experience Christians who judge me because they have never heard of God working in the ways he works with me. Something not necessarily found in scripture.

The arguement i have with trying to find everything in scripture is that Jesus himself tells us not everything is written down.

Jesus says others would come that would do even greater things.

And the Apostles stated that they couldn't put all things into words.

So both Jesus and the Apostles both say, not everything has been written down. Yet the Christians will continually say, " if it isnt in the scripture, it isnt from God."

perhaps we could understand better with an example

Just Realise that if something we think is God and yet it goes against even the slightest little piece of scripture, well it's NOT of God.

Jesus says others would come that would do even greater things.

John 14:12 reads as

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Again nothing will violate even the slightest portion of Scripture.

You are completely opposite to what the Bible says....Get the story right before you presume to teach. Go back to the Word.

I challenge all here to find every single usage of the word judge and its dirivitaves....You will quickly see that we are NOT to pass judgment on anybody! We are to judge in disputes among the bretheren, we are to judge OURSELVES as far as sin in our lives, and nothing else.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. We are not to judge those whom we consider false teachers. We are to chastise those who follow them, and teach the truth.
Interestingly...If we decide that somebody is a false teacher without searching the Word to verify what that person says, we are simply judging based on feelings. But we ARE judging contrary to the Word.
The second challenge then, is to find all scripture pertaining to the treatment of false teachers....How are they to be handled? How to we come against the teaching?
I've shared all of his at one point but it seems to have been quickly forgotten.

I wrote more discussing my frustration with Christians who have the Book, and use it only as a badge of honor rather than taking what it says to heart, but deleted it...

Very Well said my Brother in Christ.

Something most do not understand is that when one judges, they Will be judged. It's not maybe or not this time because so an so is wrong, No! One will be judged.

Let's look at who or what we are judged by or with.
God's most Holy Written Word .

Now let's look and see who would want every born again believer to be judged .
Why of course it's our enemy the devil.

he knows if he can get judgment brought on us, then he has the Legal Right to gain access into your life.

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

What's he looking for?
A legal right to gain access and getting judgment on you is but one of many ways he can.

The sad thing is all these thoughts one gets about another pointing out wrong and so forth are coming from the very one who wants you to be judged.

Gives light unto
2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

People only think they are using great discernment when they judge others but in all truth, once they open their mouth and give life to those thoughts, they have just followed the enemies leed unto an open door for him.

Blessings of grace and peace be yours in abundance

Very good words here. Thank you. For those who insist on judging others it probably would be a lot more fun to judge the Good things a person does and to broadcast those. Thanks for pointing that out!

It's vital to understand.
We are Always told to be on guard for satans trickery and never told to be alert for his power. he has none unless we give it to him.

example....one struggles in an area they have yet to overcome.
It is satan who pressures and pushes one to do it. Then once they give in and do it, the guilt and condemnation and feeling like scum and trash comes.
The one who convinced you to do it is right there condemning you.

satan is the accuser of the brethren.
Believe me he knows how to get this done to where God has to let him have access because The Believer has already gave it to him.

It's all a part of spiritual warfare or the battle of the mind.
Judging is a part of his tactics to get a legal right he should not ever of had into a believers life.

We are governed by Kingdom Laws and our enemy the devil knows it and will use them against a believer time in and again for God is held true to His Word and Laws.

Blessings

Right! Where Adam had legal dominion in the Earth, then gave it to Satan when he bowed his knee to the snaky rotter, Then Jesus, following those legalities came into the world as a man, died, rose again and took back what Adam had given away. Jesus gave legal domininion back to mankind and now we try to give it back to Satan? Really?! If we bow our knee to discouragement, temptation or sickness we do just that..Only now we cannot give legal dominion of the Earth, only of ourselves, our family, our finances etc. Where do we get off doing even that? It makes no sense ignoring what God says to us about us, and believing Satan instead.

I finished my book last week, its ready for the publisher, and ever since I've been feeling quite under it. Empty, with a pointless life nowhere to go....That sort of thing. Then about an hour ago another book started. All of a sudden all that junk vanished and the sun is shining again.
My point is.....We have a purpose. And if we allow the negatives to cloud our vision, then we're sunk and we block God's moving in our lives.

Amen and yet far to many fail to accept our every word we speak will produce something either for us or against us. Again Kingdom Law.

Those who are touchy feely and quickly get offended and fail to take responsibility for this are in fact very much uncorrectable and if you don't take correction then you are unteachable.
No correction
No Teachable
NO Direction

Now who would benefit from this? Lol that's why satan quickly points out offences to get you to be offended and judge.

Autograph copies ? ;)

Christian snowflakes? LOL You are right though. Very few Christians believe that our authority comes out in our WORDS. They seem to think words are simply sounds we make...Yet our words carry all the authority that Jesus has; the same creative power that Jesus has.

Lets all be fair and aware of the Holy Spirit within, It is not wrong to have discernment but we should never judge!
