Are you a Christian ?

We can NOT tell who is who by lifestyle
Thats is true.

Thats why my original post is a call for Us to examine ourselves.

Are we only Christian by name or are followers of Christ

I will try to say the same thing with differnet way.
There are some who proclaim that they are christian but they dont believe to the Gospel of Jesus. They are not saved. But many of them are not liars.
Simply they want to say that they believe that there is God .....They simple want to say that they are not atheists...Some say they are christian of meaning that they are accepters of christian culture and so on. Such men are not saved....But who realy believe Gospel of Jesus He is saved notwithstanding they are seemed good or bad , have good lifestyle or not...God sees their hearts. "Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,"...Read Romans and Galatians...
Romans 3:22 "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
Romans 3:28 "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law."
Only they who do sin=Trespass the commands of God by free will and protect their sins and dont repent it they are not saved and not christian.
We can NOT tell who is who by lifestyle. Even saved christians can do wrong things becasue many of them fooled by lies of Devil...
But they are saved...
Be well

That was a little more clearer, thank you. I agree with you. Sorry for not understanding your english very well.

Thank you ByJesus45 i thought it was like that, i did miss(didn't understand) the first part. Yes many people who think they are Christians have simply been mislead... those are the people I look for, and show them their life in Christ is based on the devil's lies. You are right in that fact. However people who live their lives by the Gospels can be seen. You can literally see Christ work in everything they do and say, that is the differance. Look at Mark 11:25 and 26. I will put in the Gospels but you will have to look them up. Matthew 15:1 to 20.In 1 to 8 Jesus explains himslf to the Pharisees. The rest is presented more simply for everyone else. The life you choose does show that you are a true Christian. Luke 6:43 to 45. or Matthew12:33 to 37. As Christians these words are as true today(especially today) as when they were written Luke 10:17 to 20. wow this was tough but i'm not quite done yet ... I will suppliment this when i get home. hmmmm sorry took longer than i thought to get home... lol forever onward That last Gospel entry explains what power we can get in following the Lord. It is unfortuate but many religious orders are in the same group, misleading parishners. The large Matthew 15 defines that religion(or man-made belief structures), have trdaitions that now superseed the laws of God. Look at Matthew7:21 to 23 This is in here for just that reason. In addition almost all Matthew Chapters 5 & 6 defines the Laws of God and labels many religious people as hypocrits. I repeat this constantly because we must truly and honestly understand it Christianity is a way of life NOT a religion The sermon on the Mount Matthew5:1 to 12 must be what is in our minds and hearts from the time we open our eyes to the time we close them daily. Well I will leave you all with this for now.
May our Lord and Saviour keep you all well in His Will>>>> agape

My husband would say he believes but hes not saved, my son as I
thought got saved months back but I've only recently known
he didn't have a true conversion.
He never came by the cross or through the blood of Jesus,
he went straight to God.
This is only because of his wifes misguiding influence on him, as she
is J.W.
John 14 v 6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I have tried since to tell him this verse, but it's not going in.
So prayer and supplication is called for.

and I do thank you for them.

Don't know if you've heard of a 50% Gospel.
I read it and thought it very interesting.

It's not a book and if I come across it on my pc I will post it.

In short it's someone who gets saved, true conversion, but never enters
in any farther, sits at the gates so to speak.
they don't grow in the strength or wisdom of Jesus given by His
Holy Spirit.
Therefore they only have half the gospel again, so to speak.
No desire there to do anything.

My Mum would be in this league, and has been for 17years, it's a
sad condition to be in, because they're neither in the world, or
walking fully with Jesus.
I think it's not wanting to know Him in a more intimate way,
they are just happy to be saved with the knowledge of getting
to heaven when they die, and that's good enough for them.

They cannot be a light, as my Mum cannot say any words of
scripture to my family, in fact, she would have them believe
in worldly things, but still say they should be saved.

It's sad when she cant see either her lack, I've been there with her
and she told me I was a differant Christian from her.......
differant, aren't all us Christians supposed to be the same.

ty wiggles wecome aboard and God bless you ... if we all asked this of ourselves we would true have more Christains around us
as rizen1 says we must examine ourselves more often

Have a blessed day

As far as I can tell what makes me a christian are the morals that I live my life by.In my opinion if you ain't going against society and you concider yourself a christian, maybe its time for a bit of introspection. I try every day to be in the world but not of it, that spark that makes people want what we have, to me thats whats important.

Well what's important to me is what Jesus did for us at Calvary.
That while we were yet sinners He died for us.
He first loved us.
That speaks volumes to me.

Amen to that..
I was just going through some old threads.

Are you a Christian? Yes I am because I have the Lord Jesus Christ in my heart and I have a relationship with Him.

Your sister in Christ, Trish

Hey Rizen 1
I do that too sometimes, go through old threads.

That was rewarding indeed, Thank you.
It's good to be reminded just why we are Christians, even though we give thanks daily for the cross, it's just blessed to remind ourselves why we are who we are, and not what we were, although still not what we should be.

wow, wow ... excellent I finally found more who understand that Christianity is not what you believe but how you live

Real Christians as i live and breathe, this post and it replys are truly wonderful.

included in my prayers tonight will include thanks giving for finding a family in Christ. Finally more sheep sent out among the wolves to regather our Lord's flock.
"Always remember the way we are from the time we open our eyes to the time we close them, determains whether or not we are Christians ... NOT where we go on sunday". God Bless you all

Hi, I am new to forums and speaking about Jesus, but commited to living my life in Christ now (I feel like I'm learning a new language and culture, but it seems so familiar sometimes). I have only turned my life back to Jesus recently and the progess has slowed at some points but I haven't stopped praying and growing (I hope):embarasse

I say Amen to the quote above, i have been reading the forum for a week or two now and I am so impressed by the replies showing so much faith and joy talking about Jesus, it truely makes me feel wonderful!

I have to continue to pray for my family whom consider themselves Christians because a/ they were christened as small children or babies and b/ believe in God.

If anyone can suggest a new approach, because I can't seem to change the beliefs they grew up with for the last 3 generations. With exception of my brother, who needed God for awhile but doesn't understand that he has to find time for Jesus, even with a family.

Thankyou

Pebosworth, .......... I think you are on the right track, I know that keeping the law (10 commandments) will not save me, because my salvation is a free gift from god thru Jesus giving his life for me. and it is my faith in him that will save me. But jesus said, "if you love me, keep my commandments". and we can say that the commandments of Jesus are, "love God and your neighbour as your self", then we must ask ourselves, well what do those 2 commands really mean? how do we really love God? I believe that this means keeping the first four commandments in their entirety, how do we love our neighbours? I believe that this means keeping the last six commandments in their entirety, this is not being a legalist, because Jesus said "IF YOU LOVE ME.... if we love him we will WANT to keep all of the 10 commandments because we love him. and when we do that we find complete happiness, when we try to modify the commandments to suite what we want to do, we will never find true happiness, man has added many extra commands over the years, just like they did in Jesus days, ..... ........... Matt.15.2
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
Matt.15.3
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Jesus tells us in
Matt.5.17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matt.5.18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matt.5.19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
When Jesus comes to take us to heaven then and then only will all be fulfilled, and we will be with Jesus forever, amen come Lord Jesus, come.

keep up the good work brother the Lord loves you

Jond

Hi and welcome. Let me first say, we are privileged to have you with us.

Continuing to pray for your family and friends is awesome and the first step. People come to the Lord in their own time according to their gifts. They also need to see someone who lives according to the Ministry of Christ (the way Jesus lived as He walked with us in life).

I have a number of threads here, defining why I believe as I do. Including what I'm about to tell. Jesus our Saviour is a part of one Living God(The Word). He was made flesh to live by His own Laws as a living example on how to do that. The religious system has had nearly 2000 years to warped the Laws and taint the image of Jesus. Our job for the Lord is to regather His flock. We cannot hit them over the head with the bible either(lol). Rather we must use Jesus' life as our example in life. Becoming a Christian is easy following these 3 simple principles; 1-believe in God, 2-accept Jesus as your personal saviour and 3-live by the Laws of God which Jesus defined as all streaming from 2;(a) Love God with all your heart mind, and soul and (b) Love your neighbour as yourself. Living this way is what is difficult and requires us to use the Gospels [The Laws of God re-presented by Jesus (the Word)]. As you live this way and things go well for you as Jesus promises, others will come to you, making your life an example for them as Jesus' life is an example for you. This means it is you that has to be strong in the Lord. The Letters of the Apostles and the Book of Acts is our model for witnessing to the Lord. As the disciples did in their actions and letters to those other peoples, we must also do with those we are in contact with. With our lives as our living example as to what it means to us, to live with Christ in our life. Our lives must be faith based works, since we are told works without faith are dead. It stands to reason that faith without works leads to hypocrisy, (as in the phrase, "do as I say not as I do").

I hope this helps. Sorry for being long winded... lol

I was looking around here
Talk Jesus
and found this thread and thought it would be good to bring up again
while we might claim to be saved or claim to be Christians
what are our claims based on?

some say they have peace about being what they claim to be
what is that peace based on?

during trials and hard times is the Christian we claim to be a visible Christian or does he/she only be seen when others are looking at good times?

Nice call Eddy Fire, and an accurate one to. So many sectarian people today use the Old Testament as a rock to hide behind when their life is not as pristine as they expect. In many ways that is doing the same thing Peter did in denying Christ 3 times when he was arrested. We still have to live our caporial life and in so doing, we will do thing right and we will do thing wrong, if we are Christ.ian or Christ.like (dictionary defines the suffix "ian" as pertaining to, refering to, and a follower or student of). At anytime for any reason denying Jesus is also a denial of what he taught and taints the ideology of Christianity.

We need to follow Jesus not only in here but in our whole world to be a True Christian, many here know me on facebook and understand that the way people see me here see me the same way there and those that I do coffee with in my non-virtual life, also see the same person. It is all trusting in Jesus and his ministry and professing that at good times and bad times ... carrying his word into our world with us without being obnoxious or demeaning to others is what makes us Christians (true Christians), it is that belief within the conduct of our life minute to minute day by day that draws others to us. We then talk to others about our life in Christ allowing them to deside for themselves, this is also good because those of the Spirit understand that others come to him in their own time... the Lord's time not ours. Again re-enforcing the patience that come with being one with the Spirit.

@paganmystic
yes and it's a good life too!
in fact if you have tasted and seen
entered in
or set free
you know it is life, that He is Life, the Life, and that that Life is in you
and anything else is death and non-life
so it is a good life, for He is Life and so good, too!
