Are you a good person?

ok this is kinda strange but i'm watching on tv a guy somewhat talking about this same subject. in a nutshell, hes saying that once you repent to god and truly mean it, that all your sins (even your future sins) are forgiven. he's saying that god is not holding sin against you once you have been redeemed but you will face consequences for your sins. he says that redemption is not momentary until you comment your next sin rather its everlasting. i never knew that it was like this so thats kinda why i felt that it would make me a bad person if i knew i would continue to do wrong yet still always ask god for forgiveness. it gives me a completely different look at how to think about sins. do you all support these claims as well???

There's a bit of understanding required in all this. Yes, all your past and future sins are forgiven when you trust Jesus' work on the cross and believe in Him as your Savior. This is what is known as "justification." Nothing can justify us before Father God, but what His Son did for us on the cross. It's Jesus' righteousness that gives us the ability to pray and literally be in the presence of Father God in the Spirit. This should give us great trust to go to Him with all our needs, one of which is the need to be empowered to overcome the sin in our lives. Jesus frees us from the condemnation of sin, and the power sin has over us. It's really awesome. As we spend time with Him daily, in His Word daily, and keeping our head straight with the sin in our vessel (understanding it's bad) He will sanctify us supernaturally as we grow in knowledge of Him and grace. There is no condemnation when you stumble, but you should go to Father God and confess your sin daily as sin can work to draw us away from God if we aren't careful. The Holy Spirit will convict you of certain activities you may be indulging in. Don't fight it, go to Him and ask for the power to overcome that sin, and He will grant you the power. Sanctification requires cooperation. Never fear, He will get you through everything. Jesus is faithful.
