I think it is perceived by much of the world, that everyone in the US is rich.
I frequently travel between Seattle and Portland, two of the largest tent cities in the US. We are starting to look like a 3rd world country.
The average price of an Apartment in Seattle - $2324.00 (US) per month. People simply can't afford to live in houses or apartments. - https://www.rentcafe.com/average-rent-market-trends/us/wa/seattle/
The average price of a house in Seattle - $750,000 (US) - https://www.redfin.com/city/16163/WA/Seattle/housing-market
There are a lot of rich people here. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Jim, Rob, and Alice Walton, Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, .. all of them are multi-billionaires ( with 9 zeros )
List of wealthiest Americans by net worth - Wikipedia -- interesting to note that all but two of these people are Democratic Party Liberals.
..and some of them are philanthropists, however just doing a quick and dirty search ( not really a scientifically valid method ) reveals that most of the organizations they give to,
have a lot more to do with research in the industries they are involved in, than helping the homeless, giving to the poor, and feeding the hungry.
