There are at least two very important differences between in the violence seen in the last week and the violence during the Black Lives Matter protests and other similar protests. Let me say that I do not support rioting, violence regardless of the perpetrator or the cause.

+ the first is that the violence was given legitimacy by the leader of the nation.
+ the second is that other protests have a basis in fact, whereas the people marching on the Capitol were spurred on by an obvious falsehood - that Trump won the presidential election by a landslide and that it was stolen from him by fraud.

These two factors make the situation uniquely dangerous.

You say two differences, and I'll refute both of them or at the very least put them in perspective that they should be in.

1. The first is that the violence was given legitimacy by the leader of the nation.

Answer: Listen to the speech he gave, and you will see that in "FACT" he did not state for the people to be violent, but to go to the Capital to support the weak kneed Republicans. Not once did he mention violence, except the word fight, but fight in the sense if the Republicans won't fight for what is right then you need to vote them out. None of his statements could be interpreted as suggesting violence. This particular speech is pretty much on par with every other speech he has given. You would do well to listen to them, even if you disagree with what he is saying, you should never be confused to think that his intension was ever to have people die over what he has said. He told them peaceful protests!

2. The second is that other protests have a basis in fact, whereas the people marching on the Capitol were spurred on by an obvious falsehood - that Trump won the presidential election by a landslide and that it was stolen from him by fraud.

Answer: 2a. You might believe that was he was saying was a falsehood, but that has yet to be established. There's an Audit that was done on a County in Michigan that is still in the courts that had to do with the Dominion Voting system, that showed inconsistencies in how the votes were tabulated. The reason it was done, was because the County in question was without a doubt a Trump county, and the county woke up with the data that Biden had won the county hands down. Kind of like living in a Black/Hispanic neighborhood, and the reporting states its White/Asian in the majority that live there. So, the Audit, and release of information from Twitter, FB, etc. has been required by the Judge to be released by 2 February. Don't know what that data has to do with the case, but as I said the case is still ongoing. Not to mention the case I mentioned that happened in TX, which has led to an arrest. Understand one thing in general. Just because the cases have been rejected by the Courts doesn't mean that Fraud hasn't happened. They just have chosen not to accept what has been presented to them. Happens everyday in the Courts.

Like I said before, it's not about the who, but rather the process, which President Trump spoke of in his speech which I'm sure you recall him saying since you listened to it. You just believe it hasn't happened and that brother it's a lie being told by him. Has the fraud happened in the numbers he has stated. Probably not, but I don't have all the information he has, or has been given.

Now you might not believe that the fraud that has occurred makes a difference to the outcome, but that's really not the point is it? I've said it before, and will say it again. Allow fraud to flourish even a little, and the system will be tainted forever more, and it won't be trusted by anyone, who happens to lose, be it Republican or Democrat, or Independent!

2b. As far as having a basis in fact. The locations that had the violence, were where the issues happened? Most of them that is not the case. Now that also is a fact. Let me burn your business down in Washington State for something that happened in Minnesota. Sounds reasonable to me (sarcasm). This was also, ignored by the Democratic establishment and even Biden didn't come out against it until months later, when it became a hot issue and was affecting his "numbers". I'll admit that many of the protests started out peacefully, but let the night come down, and they turned violent. Meanwhile Law Enforcement was handcuffed by the local politicians, who won't you know, happen to almost all be Democratic, on how they could handle the situations, if they were allowed to handle them at all, and not just contain them.

I can agree that both protests when they started were peaceful were fine, but the minute they turned violent its wrong. The difference is that the protests besides the one at the Capitol, were all condemned by the Republicans as well, but the Democrats only condemned the one that happened at the Capitol. You condemn the violence, but you can't justify violence because the reasoning behind some of the protests land close to home/heart. When you do that it becomes a Christian issue. We're in the World not of it brother and unless we show others there is another way, or the only way, we are no different than they are and fall into the trap that the World has been in since the fall.

Not true. I went direct to the source read the comments of the judges in the cases dealing with voter fraud. I saw the video of Trump's rally inciting the crowd to March on the Capitol. I read far more widely and independently than the main American news outlets.

I have the PDF on the Audit if you'd like it. If you have the judges write-ups, not just comments in PDF as well it would be great to have, and read. And you are correct, that Trump did tell the crowd to March on the Capitol, but what did he say on why they should? That part makes the "inciting" part look a bit differently than just using that word to describe the whole story on what President Trump told the crowd to do. Why do I point that out to you? Because that is exactly what many of the media outlets do. Give the people part of the story, and use trigger words to describe the event, and you have a predetermined result that they want communicated planted in the minds of people. I like yourself, prefer to do my own research into things. I listen to both sides, and know that the truth is probably somewhere in-between. Plus, and this is even a bigger plus. Pray, and ask guidance. Without which, we just get ourselves embroiled in Worldly Politics, whose end we already know!

Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful reply. I'm not convinced by your arguments. On the election issue, the claim is that there was massive and widespread fraud that stole the election - a landslide victory - from Trump. There is no evidence of this.

And I think it's clear that the mob that descended on the Capitol was inspired and energised by Trump and his words.

But I expect that neither of us is likey to persuade the other, so I'm content to this drop peacefully.
