First of all, wonderful question. I think that there must be a greater understanding of God's Word. Now that is not to say that there are not other great needs within the church as well, but I think that having a greater knowledge/understanding of God's Word to us will lead to His aid with the other needs. For example, a greater understanding of His Word will lead to the Holy Spirit interacting more and more with the church as by a greater understanding of the Word, the Great Comforter will come to strengthen and enlighten in a greater capacity as the hunger for His Word grows. With the Holy Spirit interceding with a greater prevalence, the rest will "fall into place" so to speak and hopefully, many of man's traditions in the church will be realized and turned away from.

The church today needs more than anything a true blue anti-christ bashing revival.
The scriptures clearly say that in the last days there will be a great falling away and that false teachers will appear and deceive many, the very elect if it were possible.
We need to recognise that the unity of the body of Christ depends entirely on sound doctrine and Holy spirit led understanding of scripture. How can we rightly divide the word without the guidance of the holy spirit?.
I beleive that God allowed the devil to cause the falling away and apostacy to occur and the spirit of the anti-christ to abound simply to glorify himself in the last days by an outpouring of the Holy spirit upon all flesh such has never been seen before and will at last prepare the churh as a spotless bride for Christ.
I often dispair as the world falls ever deeper into decedance becoming God less and worse than that atributing to God the things of the devil and to the devil the things of God. The scripture say that at this time we must lift our heads erect for our deliverance is at hand.
I beleive at this time our heartcry to God must be for revival, that the bonds will be broken and the harvest begin. The bible says that the gospel must be preached to the entire inhabited earth as a witness before the end will come.

I feel that one of the biggest needs that we are facing in church, and as christains as a whole, is the fact that we do not do enough to reach those who do not know the Lord.
I have although seen many churches that do so very much to do this, but unfortunantly in my church, this is not the case. they are very settled into their ways, and church is simply for those that are already saved! Yes, I know that this is also very important, but i feel much more could be done in my church and by me to reach out to those that need the lord...

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chr 7:14 NIV)

This applies to the 21st century church as much or more than it applied to Israel in Solomon's day. There's a great deal of unrecognized sin in the modern church that needs to be uprooted before Jesus returns. We need to pray diligently for a move of the Holy Spirit and be ready to suffer the earthquake when it comes.

I see a great need for strong christians in the church to pray for hurting families...instead of making "oh wow" noises, gasping, and gossiping.

Hi SLE - I think that is a great prayer for our nation, too. Tx - BOL

Well, I would have to have chosen more than one.

I will tell you a few of the biggest "NEEDS" in the church.

1. the church is not just a building you go to, so the church needs to remember, or learn that they are the BODY of Christ.

2. Prayer, and I include myself. We have appointments and errands on our schedule, but we seem to pencil prayer in, or do it on the run. We need a specific amount of time we give our heart mind and worship to the Lord, as individuals and as a church body.

3. Love, the bible says if we don't have love, we have nothing, we are not effective at all in the BODY. There are so many goody two shoe Christians out there that are afraid of getting there spiritual fingers dirty...well, I guess they are not real Christians anyway, need to pray for them to!!

4. READ YOUR BIBLE!!!!
The bible says we need to hide the word in our heart. Many Christians do not even find reading in their bible necessary until the preacher says, " Turn with me now to the book of...".

'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' Jesus Christ is our salvation God spoke of in Isaiah, His own right arm. If we do not hide the word in our heart, we are not growing, or going with the flow of the living waters how can you love the Lord and not love the Word, it is God.. If suddenly today, Christians were told they were no longer able to own bibles here in the United States, how many would have hidden anything in there heart? Maybe not knowing each scripture number, or even the book it is in, but the words that keep us alive? The Word is God, He has preserved it for a reason, for us to eat His goodness, to taste His truth....you get the idea.... :)

We need to stop seeing Christianity as a "To Do list" and start thinking in a new direction. Often in the New Testament, Jesus is addressed as "Teacher", and that He was. What did He teach? He taught Kingdom Living 101, which is centered on spiritual growth through the power of the Holy Spirit, not ritual observance, not memorizing things, or performing for God's acceptance. Who are His disciples/students? All who hold on to His teachings and receive a new way of thinking, a way that leads to real freedom through relationship with Him.

Amen SLE!
What the church needs more of is faith! And:

Roman 10:17
17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

More of the church needs to read the Bible and hear the message from the Holy Spirit!!

We need pure, unadulterated grace preaching coming from the pulpits, not a mixture of Law and Grace. And we need to start preaching that Jesus did a heck of a lot more than just forgive sins at the Cross. And we need to start praising and mentioning Jesus name a lot more in our churches. Even in my church, all I hear is Glory to God all the time which is fibe but where's Jesus name being dropped? We're under grace man! Let's lift His name up already. We need to stop presenting Jesus as powerless, as so many churches do.

Biggest need in the church?
1st week of the month:
Go to the meeting expecting to meet Jesus Christ. Make sure that he is the center attraction (not a pastor, not a praise group nor anything else - only Jesus). Collectively seek him in silence, prayer, testimony and praise.
2nd week of the month:
Do the same as in the first week of the month.
3rd week of the month:
Do the same as in the first week of the month.
4th week of the month:
Do the same as in the first week of the month.
5th week of the month:
Do the same as in the first week of the month.

Jesus is around 24hrs a day. You should be meeting and talking with Him from morning to evening. And resting in His perfect work 24hrs a day enjoying that Shalom peace.

I sometimes think we should be kinder to outsiders...not that that was the direction your poll was going in...just a thought :)

Interesting poll. Of course I think all of thes things re important. I chose prayer becasue I beleive the more we pray the more open we will be to the leadership of the Hlly Spirit which will lead us to do some of the other things mentioned - such as outreach and fellowship. Maybe I feel this way because I personally KNOW i need a stronger prayer life.

The Church has been led by men long enough ..We need to seek out the leading of the Holy Spirit for the days ahead are trecherious and full of tribulation ..We as belivers need to turn control over to the Lords will in our churches. so as to prepare our wicks and fill our lamps for the second coming of our savior ..through the leading of the Holy Spirit The Church may become a right bride for Christ with out spot or wrinkle ..rev

I think instead of sticking to schedules and worrying about offending someone, just tell it like it is. Teach as the Holy Spirit leads you, no matter how crazy you think it sounds. Stop trying to conform to the worlds view on what "love and acceptance" is and follow what God says it is. Reach out more to those who are hurting and need to hear about Jesus no matter who they are.

I just think it is nuts, when you go to church and you follow a strict minute by minute schedule and everyone acts like robot zombies. Stand up and shout your love for Jesus of you feel led to or just sit quietly and smile and thank God. Do what you feel the Holy Spirit is leading you to do and forget about others negative reactions.

Sorry if I got off on a rabbit trail....LOL....great poll you posted!
