Blasphemy Of The Unbeliever

I live by the premise that only one person who walked the Earth can define who is Christian and who is not. I don't follow anyone's interpretation of the Bible because I truly believe that no man can fully understand what is there. I've read it and still find something new that I've missed and feel like a fool every time I put it down

I also don't use the term born again or saved since I know how fallible I am and know that no matter how much I try I can not be perfect in any way shape or form. I have my faults and my demons. I have my fears and doubts and know that I may falter if I think I've reached the front door of Christ.

I remember most of all the says that Christ gave us. I believe these little sound bites that so many people read over and forget are stepping stones to giude my life with. One, I have already posted, which is Pay Caesars things to Caesar. The other fits in very well with my vision of where I am. That Is Faith without works is dead.

That little statement has kept me up many nights going over the things I have done . The works, I take as the diligence we pursue in living our lives under Christ. I have no idea when, where or even if I will ever meet that threshold of being a Christian in the eyes of Christ. I've heard people say that excepting him as my savior is all that is needed, but if that is so, then what of the works.

Jesus set down a parable about a master on the eve of taking a long journey gave coins to several servants and while he was away all but one multiplied those coins and were rewarded for their diligence. One did not and said that he feared loosing the coins and buried them in the ground. He dug them up and gave them back to the master, which chastised him for being slothful. I take that as that only Christ knows for sure if anyone has done enough to enter his realm and we should not presume to know wither we have reached that platue. Therefore I don't consider himself as anything more than a follower of Christ. I am not saved, since Christ has not told me I am and I am not born again for the same reason. But this is just me saying what I believe.

You have been a blessing to me today. I read the entire thread out of curiosity to see what RJ was up to and while reading, I came to the understanding and belief that you possessed exactly what Christ was talking about when he said in Matt 18:3-4 (KJV):
"Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
The key words are "become" and "humble" which when defined is to "be made" and "to have a modest opinion of one's self, to behave in an unassuming manner devoid of all haughtiness." These words describe your responses and I believe your sincere and simple answers are exactly what Christ would praise you for. I don't believe He is searching hearts and minds looking for those with many words and high sounding ideals. I think he is searching for those who simply believe and have faith in him. Those people will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

With regards to your responses, if you do believe in Him, you DO have the Holy Spirit within you and you are saved - just because He said so. There is no other reason and no argument which can be made to deny this. Period.
You should be assured of your salvation without question. Every time I think that I may not be doing enough to earn my salvation, I remember the thief on the cross who asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His kingdom. He did nothing to deserve salvation yet he received it at that moment simply by asking. He did no "works" to earn it implying it is not a condition of our salvation either. Does that mean we shouldn't do works? On the contrary, we should want to, but is not a condition.

You have that simple faith. What next? Is your "works" going to be travelling to the Congo to convert unbelieving heathens or to the inner city to work in the soup kitchen for Jesus? Maybe, but it takes a special type of person to do those things. As history shows, few are competent in those endeavors. What about a ministry of "works" right here on the internet where you present your understanding and simple faith to others as a way to minister to them.

As I said at the beginning, you are (present tense) a blessing to me today. Your faith has become your works; spread it around a lot. However, you must grow in your faith. Learn from these people on here because there's a lot of wisdom. Learn so you may teach, that is one of the higher gifts.

Thank you sir. I have no idea what is next in my life. I didn't even know that my wi-fi unit would fail on me, when it did and is the reason I couldn't respond to your kind words until this late date. As for a blessing I think we are all blessed to be able to support each other during these troubled times. I think there is a reason that all things transpire and we really don't understand why until we find ourselves needed and appreciated and then we know we were guided there for that purpose and given those words to say.
