Can not know the Lord without Repentance??

I know this is not addressed to me but I would like to answer this.

No Sir I do not.
If one catches my eye I right away turn my head and walk away. Lol found 20 dollar bill once looking the other way.

Scripture tells us to not let any sexual immorality be found in you. I won't even give a thought a chance. I worked hard and through Gods Grace I have not had to deal with that junk for many years.
Blessings

"I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?" Job 31:1

Look, I don't think every-man struggles with this. I have no way of knowing that you do or don't, I am not saying that at all. I was in an attempt to make a point with @ At Peace who repeatedly says he is with out sin, then you ( its your right) chimed in. Since you took it on yourself to do that, I was simply addressing the question to you. A now @ B-A-C might have taken offense.
To me it seems that you are effectively arguing in favor of Jesus being a liar. As for these others here on this forum, we can accept their testimony that God has done a good work in them or we can call them liars also. Consider what it is you are supporting:

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

If God then is in us and we are turning the reins to us over to Him completely, what is impossible?

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:" Col 1:27

If God cannot work a perfect work in you or in me, is it because it is too hard for God or is it because we have used our right to do so and taken back our own reins in our own hands again thereby limiting the Holy One of Israel?

"Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel." Psalm 78:41

@Born Again 2004
I really do not want to argue this point, but it really bothers me that you and others say that no one can stop sinning while they are in this flesh even after they have received the power of God in them. So then does that mean that almighty God cannot keep a willing person sinless?

Is that not calling Jesus a liar?

What does this verse mean?

"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." Mark 9:23

If a person really believes that he can live the rest of his natural life without sinning then he can, right? Is that not what Jesus said?

Look, no offense, .....if you think you can go without sin, 24/7, for the rest of your life..
Go for it!!!

I think those that say they can not stop sinning see sin differently then those that say they can stop sinning. For example I and BA see it a sin that if we have a one second in -pure thought of a women even though we then turn to Jesus and do not think of it any longer then a second that it is still a sin, many other here think that is not a sin, but the important thing is we all do the same thing we fight it and turn to Jesus and we do not pursue the thought so we all take the same action we all have the same victory but some think it was a sin and some think it was not a sin, it does not matter as long as we do not practice and we turn to the spirit the second it happens.

Some will say the devil put the in-pure thought in our head and as long as we dont submit to it we are not sinning, perhaps they are right, but who is to know for sure who put the in-pure thought in our head to begin with? for it is written
Matthew 15:19
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

whear is it written the devil puts thoughts in our heads??

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

whear is it written the devil puts thoughts in our heads??

We see a few examples of this.

Matt 16:22; Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You."
Matt 16:23; But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man's."

Even though Peter was the one in the room with Jesus... Jesus knew who the thoughts came from.

This is also in Mark

Mark 8:32; And He was stating the matter plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.
Mark 8:33; But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, "Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man's."

Acts5:3; But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?

Luke 22:3; And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.

whear is it written the devil puts thoughts in our heads??
It's called the battle of the mind.
Scripture talks about fiery darts....those are thoughts.

Scripture tells us to take every thought captive. Why every thought?
Because thoughts is how satan operates.

Why are we told to renew the mind constantly.....
Why are we told to speak God's Word constantly?
Why are we to be on guard or prepared for the trickery of the devil but not told power of the devil.

satan works one thought at a time.
Research this out and it will change your life.
Blessings to you

I confess, at first I thought this was ridiculous question. But after thinking about it. It is a good and valid question.
So I will answer this question with a question.

1 Pet 5:8; Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
1 Pet 5:9; But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

Jas 4:7. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

We are obviously told to "resist" the devil.

I agree with @Wired4Fishen above about Ephesians

Eph 6:16; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

We are able to extinguish these flaming arrows (or darts as some Bible say) that come from.... the evil one (Satan)

So how do we resist Satan? Do we arm wrestle him? Have you ever had physical arrows or darts shot at you?
What exactly are we resisting, when we are resisting Satan?

Could it be...

2 Cor 10:5; We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

and Wired4 mentioned above in Ephesians 6 it says...

Eph 6:12; For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

If we aren't fighting physical things, what are we fighting? What are we resisting?

Not me alone my friend, but God in me. May God richly bless you as you walk with Him.
So, my point, which you have responded to above, was: Look, no offense, .....if you think you can go without sin, 24/7, for the rest of your life..
Go for it!!!
So, if you are capable of doing this with out fail....kudos to you , and. as you have put it, "my friend"!
  • James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. Since it is God saying this and we are dealing with his perfection and not ours, I would say to keep the law perfectly, we would be required to do it 24/7.
  • So. I see no difference regarding sin, if you say you are perfectly sinless 24 /7, then who am I to argue?

Also @Dave M
To add to what has been said.
Where do those thoughts of doubt come from?

We need to know and Believe God's Word to the point we can quickly recognise any attempt our enemy is coming at us with.

he is as an expert craftsman at hand tailored and camouflaged thoughts for each individual. he knows you better then you think. he has studied your reactions, your emotions and can read your body language unto the point he knows when you are biting his deception.

his deception is not easily recognised.
he will mix in truth and use scripture with a false meaning. Even just the slightest little twist that goes unnoticed and begins to hinder your thinking.

Another thing.
Have you ever struggled in an area that was hard for you to resist?
Ever wrestle with thoughts on how it is not that bad or been pushed to just do it?

Then after words felt like crap and had thoughts of how disgusting you were and how your not a Christian or God is mad now and so forth?

The same one who pushed you into it is the first one condemning you and yes it is your enemy the devil, or more likely the demon(s) that is assigned unto you at the time.

People who think they are so perfected that the devil can not influence them are Already Half Beat.
No one is to the place where satan will not address thoughts to.

Just also know that these fiery darts, thoughts can and will come with FEELINGS and emotions.

One other example, ever get angry and start mouthing off in an argument and once you got started it was hard to Stop and you said things that you could not believe you were saying?

Like a stuck horn or rapid fire machine gun?

That was your enemy feeding you those thoughts and your flesh had taken over and spit them out just as fast as he could put them in you.

How does satan get the open door he is looking for?
Words. .. your words....he has to have our help. We must give him the legal right. Words and actions and reactions are vital.

Where do all those thoughts come from that gets a person to judge another?

Yep your enemy.
Why ? To get judgement on you.
he knows when we judge others, he has a legal right to begin to devour.

Where do all these arguments come from about Judging with Christians?
Why so many beliefs or so called doctrines about we are to Judge People and claim this false teacher and so on?
Church Splits stem from some one acting on a thought. Does God go around breaking up churches and starting new ones with different beliefs then what He has said in His Word?

Our thoughts are influenced even if you don't believe it.

Add in.....how do you give life to a thought - SPEAKING IT and or acting on it.

Blessings to you

If you think this is a good sign that God exists, then you must recognize the effect of a conscience on one's decisions.
You acknowledge the God but not His gracious works.
No , I acknowledge truth...there were and are a many very good men that are good and have a good conscience but die unbelievers!!!

I am not capable of going without sinning for the rest of my life, but the God in me certainly is. If He does not accomplish it would, I believe, be because somewhere along the Way I chose to go my own way instead allowing Him always to lead. This is why Apostle Paul admonished us with these words:

"Quench not the Spirit." I Thess 5:19

The use of the word, "friend" was not intended to be facetious. We may not agree on every but is it necessary to do so in order to love each others as brothers in the Lord?

I am not capable of going without sinning for the rest of my life, but the God in me certainly is.

Thank you kindly, you made my point.
James 2;10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.4
  • All of us who are Christian, though God in use, we are sill human and in a fallen world and can not go with out sinning, in some form, 24 / 7, the rest of our life. I am not talking about the Nasty Five or Dirty Dozen, we are beyond that, but we all sin in ways we can't even understand. Look, this is just me but this is the way I look at it...sin is anything God isn't.
  • The law, which James is referring to, is perfect and with out blemish. And it stands as a guide for us today. What God found was that the law , though holy, righteous and perfect, man was not. So, he created a New Covenant....enter Jesus, we all know the rest.
  • In God's realm, sin is no different than the law, fail at it one time and you are a sinner, in need of a Savior.
  • That's why Paul wrote Romans 8:1 !

James 2;10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it

That verse could be taken two ways.

1. If I even break one of the rules, I'm just as guilty as if I broke all of them. So why even try.

2. If I even break one of the rules, I'm just as guilty as if I broke all of them. So I better try pretty hard not to break any.

If we break all the rules a few times, maybe there's grace for that.

If we continue breaking all the rules everyday for the rest of our lives....?

If I even break one of the rules, I'm just as guilty as if I broke all of them. So I better try pretty hard not to break any.

I think your wrong on both positions
James 2:10
  • One of the big hurdles that the Apostles faced, was the Synagogue Jews. They didn't care much for or understand Christianity and they insisted that they had laws of Moses and didn't need Jesus.
  • God, through James, was telling the Orthodox Jew that, if they failed just one aspect of the law, they failed all the law and therefore needed a Savior.
  • The same holds true today. That is why, through Jesus, we can rest in the finality of the cross and have life through the resurrection.
  • That is also why Paul wrote Roman 8:1
