That's funny. I heard that exact same scenario just earlier today used to illustrate why Christians are so afraid for others. Yes, if you truly believed there was a cliff, I can see how you would be concerned. However, you have to acknowledge that sometimes one can push them so hard that they're hurt in the process. Well, you'd say, at least I'm saving them from ultimate death. What's a little bruising compared to that? And I respond, what if there is no cliff? Then you're hurting them unnecessarily.
Actually that is not what I’d say. I would say nothing, but "welcome brother let me give you a hug!" The reality is that the person, who had to go through the temporary pain of hearing the truth, would be the one who would acknowledge that it was worth the pain. When one knows that Jesus died a horrible death and suffered for the world, the little we have to go through is nothing in comparison. That He didn’t have to do it makes it even more wondrous! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! (Means praise the Lord X 3)
Yes, they can help themselves. Many other Christian student reporters did, and one publicly disagreed with the walk-out.
Sadly, most channels are biased, which is why I don't often watch the news or at least try to watch both points of view. But it's manipulative and deceitful. Like I said, just because it's the norm, doesn't mean it's right.
You say “Yes, they can help themselves”, yet they don’t! That’s the point! They’ll even tell you they are unbiased yet their reporting makes it evident that they aren’t! Nothing worse than believing the lie you’re the originator of. It should come as no surprise to you that Christians don’t all agree all the time To say otherwise, would be to lie to oneself, since scripture shows that disagreements have happened between believers Yet the bond that keeps each of us united as believers in spite of these differences shows the power of Christ Jesus in us!
You’ll find that many did not leave, but felt pressured by the perceived persecution they might receive if they did leave. Not all Christians are the brave unto death identified in Revelation 6:9 (9) And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
The gay speaker should be very familiar with such stories of people being remaining silent and accepting the ridicule. I’m sure if the situation was reversed, he would be up in arms because of those who stayed silent. Not railing against them, but against the perpetrators who made them have to go through such an experience in the first place. My prayers go out to all of them.
Man will aspire to perfection, but since they have no idea what perfection is, they will never achieve it on their own. If they could the sacrifice would not have been necessary.
