Close to walking away from God

So where do I stand? Am I going to Hell because I refuse to accept and believe certain teachings and I refuse to go to Church now with a bunch of people who are hypocritical and judge me left right and center am I best throwing away my belief in God and Jesus all together due to me rejecting core teachings because there's no point in trying to go on if God rejects me?

Rick, your post reminds me of a young man, a fellow member of Alcoholics Anonymous, who I met a couple of months ago. He told me just yesterday that he's been close to becoming a Christian but he's deeply hurt by the condemnation he's received from so-called "believers". I apologized to him and I now apologize to you for the rude treatment. And I offer you the same advice I gave him: "Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater".

Sorry for all the condemnation and judgment you received from other Christians, mate. I think that would be enough to put many off seeking God. The word clearly tells us in Romans 3:23, that all have fallen short of the glory of God. Therefore, what right does anyone have to judge another brother or sister for their faults or struggles?

I'm beginning to remember an example in the book of Luke, with the Pharisee and the Publican praying...

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.- Luke 18:10-14

Welcome to the forum, Rick!

honestly I've been left in this place because of other Christians where I know God forgives me but because of the condemnation of others I find it extremely difficult to forgive myself

Rick, to get a picure of how God feels about you, read Jesus' parable about the prodigal son (Lk 15:1-24) and see yourself as the prodigal and God as the father. That will give you an idea of a) How rich and powerful He is, and b) how much He loves you!
