depression is killing me , help???

Also, there might be physical, biochemical reasons for your depression. I'm not trying to sound harsh or to disagree with anyone here, but every sad feeling does not come from the devil. Sometimes sadness and depression can come to someone even when nothing around them is going wrong.

Stress after long periods of time can build up shortages of epenephrine and serotonin in the brain. We need those hormones/chemicals to think clearly; in other words, that's the way our good Father created us. In this world there is trouble and sorrow, and some of us are prone to let it cave us under more than other people.

Get some good counsel and if you need medication, do not be ashamed to take it, sister.

Thank you Dreamer for addressing the bio-chemical aspect of depression.

Counselling, medication can help, if you are reluctant to go on prescribed meds as I am, there are natural alternatives out there that I have been researching and can increase serotonin levels and help improve people's lives. Also embracing healthier lifestyle, eating whole grain, fresh natural foods, fresh air, excercise.

I currently am going through a terrible bout of depression, just hit me like a ton of bricks. I believe it is due to hormones and low serotonin levels. I am putting my trust in the Great Physician above all, but I believe it is He who leads us to take some practical steps aswell.

I hope you are well soon Minory Girl, lots of people care about you. I hope you begin that relationship with the Lord real soon.

Greetings,

Yes, The Lord gave us herbs for healing and as many of them can be eaten, it is not an unfaithful thing to include them in your diet.
I say this because some well meaning folk have decided that taking 'medication' is a sign of not having faith, etc.
On the contrary, the intake of healthy foods, if and when available is only really honouring God and believing that He has provided for all our needs.

If you follow Calluna's advice, Minory Girl, ask your physician to recommend herbal remedies. There are quite a few very useful herbs for treating depression. I will not go into which ones here, but ask your physician, remembering that he/she is serving you, and in fact go so far as to tell them you want a 'natural' cure. If they refuse, or do not have any answers, seek out another physician who will help you.

I have seen too many people have their lives destroyed by taking proprietary drugs in the treatment of depression and other related problems that seem to be increasing as the days go on.
I also know many who have made use of what the Lord has given us, and have had speedy and safe recoveries.

Speak to your doctor about this.

If you can find a Christian doctor who understands the use of herbs in medicine, then that is your best place to go.

Having said that, the best advice I can give you is to give thanks to God in Jesus Christ the Lord, and learn of Him.
Make it a mission, make yourself learn of His eternal love for you and rejoice in Him. The love of God is the best medicine there is!

And Calluna, dear sister, stay close to Him who loves you. Let His love envelope you and please, cast your cares and burden upon Him. Rejoice... in Jesus name.

Bless you,

Br. Bear
