So even though there is not a single verse that says "forgiveness is a gift".

And there are several verses that say we will be forgiven as we forgive others... Matt 6:12; Matt 6:14;
Mark 11:25; etc...
And there are several verses that say if we do NOT forgive others, we will not be forgiven... Matt 6:15;
Matt 18:35; Mark 11:26; etc...
And several more verses that say we have to repent in order for forgiveness... Acts 2:38; Acts 5:31; Luke 3:3;
...and finally even though there is scripture that says ... :"If" we confess our sins He will forgive us... ( 1 Jn 1:9; )

You believe forgiveness is an unconditional gift?

If it's not in the Bible, and there are several verses that say just the opposite, it's possible it could be a doctrine of demons.

If we do not repent - we are not forgiven.
If we do not forgive others - we are not forgiven.
If we we do not confess our sins - we are not forgiven.

That doesn't sound like a gift.
I think this is more of a play on words than it is about doctrine. Forgiveness is contingent on forgiving others but when forgiveness is undeserved even after we confess our sins and repent of our sins. It is still undeserved and therefore an undeserved gift that goes with undeserved grace and mercy.

And there are always conditions with God. He will never force his kingdom on us. Speaking of Israel Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of Gods righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God. So I would say forgiveness is a gift but it is not unconditional.

There can be no "forgiveness" with out first having "repentance". God is the one who "grants repentance" and that is a gift that no one can earn.

2Tim 2:24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,
2Tim 2:25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,
2Tim 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

Yes I believe that without Gods conviction of sin we would not repent. I am not into debating a reformed theology or a free will theology. Both sides have very good scriptural doctrines. But both are on the same road of the great commission and reaching the lost with the Gospel. 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is To them that perish foolishness, but for we who are saved it is the power of God.
