Hi, it's me Pixie: Just wondering how many of you say the Our Father, the Lords prayer? I say it a lot and one of the reasons I say it over and over, is because it was the perfect prayer given to us by Jesus. I still have my talks, my prayers, my petitions with God, but I love to pray a prayer that Jesus gave us. It is the only prayer I repeat. All the rest is direct communication with God. So, just wondering if you pray the Our Father and wondering what motivates you to do so. Amen: Pixie:love: :rose:

Yes we do say it, pixie.

The disciples asked....."Lord teach us to pray"

What we call the 'Lord's Prayer' was the answer to that question, LOrd terach us to pray.

This prayer was given to us by the Lord Jesus himself, and this prayer covers all our need's. Amen

If we were to pray this every day........surely we would know God's provision, and blessing.

i pray it when i don't know what it is i need to pray for... like if i'm confused or if i don't know where to start and want a basis of what i want and need to talk about to God. Thanks for reminding me about it, cuz i need that now. God bless you.

Yes I do say the Lords Prayer, but not every day though. I also think it’s important that we say the Lords Prayer, because Jesus did teach this prayer to his disciples and Jesus knows best on how we should pray to the Father.

Yes I also pray this prayer, not all the time, but sometimes I have a strong desire to say it and really meditate on each line. I have a book I started reading by Kay Arthur and it is titled. 'Lord Teach me to pray in 28 days'. And the foundation for daily prayer is the The Lords Prayer, that's as far as I have read so far in the book, but I believe it is going to be a good read. It is being used as part of a group study.

Beautiful prayer to pray and to live

This is a beautiful prayer to prayed and to lived. Never forget the perfect prayer is to live what we pray and pray what we live...

I pray The Lord's Prayer on occasion. They also have a tune for it and I have heard it sung by several singers.:sun:

Lost my tape

:rose: Dear ChristineES. I had a tape of the Our Father, sung by an African group of Youth for Christ. If anyone has heard it or knows where to get a copy, please let me know. It is awesome and inspiring, a real heart lifter. Amen:Pixie

I do say the Lord's Prayer too.

Pixie I have added a poll to the post for you too. Now people can vote too.

I love the song that Cliff Richard sings of The Lord's Prayer :note:

God bless  :rainbow: :rose:

It says all we need to know about our direction and path x x

Brillaint .. yes i say it xx

I do the prayer, but not everyday; only sometimes. My parents use to (and still do) say the prayer every morning, but I can see how they pray it in vain. They just rush through the scripture without understanding the beautiful and deeper meaning. I guess because of that it has turned me off from the prayer a little bit. But, I still do see how beautiful and powerful that prayer is.

I rarely pray the Lord's Prayer...
My parents taught me and my brothers to pray with our own words concerning our own specific needs. This way, it's harder to make prayer a ritual. But i too think that it is the perfect example of prayer...

I do not pray it word for word because the Bible says that we aren't to pray
repetitiously and I also think that if you say it over and over again word for word it kinda loses it's meaning and you're not really praying from your heart. I pray in that order, but not saying those words.

The Lords Prayer

Some of you think that because we say the our Father, that we don't give our individual devotion or petitions to Him.
I say the our Father, but I speak with Him also. By saying the our Father, I am respecting the prayer that Jesus gave us. I understand that we shouldn't use repetitive prayer, but I think that the meaning is for one that ONLY uses repetitive prayer. The Jews and the Gentiles did this, in the years our Lord walked this earth. But Jesus gave us just ONE simple prayer to say. Like I said, I pray the Our Father and then I speak to Him. To me this is distinct form of praise to Him and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Below in Matthew 6, Jesus actually asks us to say this prayer. Who am I to argue with the Lord.

Matthew 6: 6"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

7"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.

8"So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

9"Pray, then, in this way:
'Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10'Your kingdom come
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11'Give us this day our daily bread.
12'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]'

14"For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Anyway, the Our Father is a very powerful prayer and can be used each day as an introduction to simple prayer. Both simple prayer and our Saviour's words (the Our Father) can be used together for a healthy prayer life.

God bless and Amen:Pixie

I do pray that prayer whenever I think of it. Sometimes life brings some pretty strange trials and for me, I have learned through the course of my life through experience to not always tell God how I want him to fix them because my ideas and throughts are lower than his. That one prayer is small, but it's packed with so much if you really think about it. It covers a lot of topics.

I pray it every now and then. I used to pray it all the time then I stopped. Reason being is because for some reason, I felt it was becoming to "empty" from me, to religious. This is caused by my 13 years in catholic school experience where it was all religion, no relationship.

However, I know this prayer is a perfect prayer from Jesus alone. I pray it sometimes when I feel I do not know what to pray for.

GOD bless
