Does God forgive all sins?

Yes, I believe God forgives all sins, except not repenting, that way you'll go to hell.

Check out Mark 3:23-27, the story titled "Jesus and Beelzebub", where the Pharisees proclaim that Jesus casts out demons through the power of Satan, thus blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

"But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." (Mk 3:29)

Colossians 1:18- 23
18 Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. He is the first of all who will rise from the dead,* so he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions, 22 yet now he has brought you back as his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. 23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it.

Romans 3:21-26
21 But now God has shown us a different way of being right in his sight—not by obeying the law but by the way promised in the Scriptures long ago. 22 We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.
23 For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet now God in his gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. 25 For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us. God was being entirely fair and just when he did not punish those who sinned in former times. 26 And he is entirely fair and just in this present time when he declares sinners to be right in his sight because they believe in Jesus.

Hebrews 10:10-14
10 And what God wants is for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.
11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands before the altar day after day, offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as one sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down at the place of highest honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled as a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he perfected forever all those whom he is making holy.

Romans 4:10-16
10 How then, is it reckoned? Being in circumcision or uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 And he obtained the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which was in uncircumcision, for him to be the father of all those who are believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be reckoned to them,
12 and the father of the Circumcision, not to those of the Circumcision only, but to those also who are observing the elements of the faith in the footprints of our father Abraham, in uncircumcision.
13 For not through law is the promise to Abraham, or to his Seed, for him to be enjoyer of the allotment of the world, but through faith's righteousness.
14 For if those of law are enjoyers of the allotment, faith has been made void and the promise has been nullified,
15 for the law is producing indignation. Now where no law is, neither is there transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith that it may accord with grace, for the promise to be confirmed to the entire seed, not to those of the law only, but to those also of the faith of Abraham, who is father of us all,

Romans 5:18-21
18 Consequently, then, as it was through one offense for all mankind for condemnation, thus also it is through one just award for all mankind for life's justifying.
19 For even as, through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners, thus also, through the obedience of the One, the many shall be constituted just.
20 Yet law came in by the way, that the offense should be increasing. Yet where sin increases, grace superexceeds,
21 that, even as Sin reigns in death, thus Grace also should be reigning through righteousness, for life eonian, through Jesus Christ, our Lord

"For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ that each one may receive what is due him for things done while in the body, whether good or bad." (2 Cor 5:10)

Like it or not, while we are in our earthly bodies (saved or unsaved) we are in the flesh and subject to sinning (see Romans 7) and we must pay some sort of penalty for those sins. However, true Christ followers are no longer under condemnation (see Ro 8:1-2).

Being a practicing slave to sin cuts us off from God. In coming to Christ, however, we say "NO!" to our sin nature. But, the enemy continues to tempt us and he sometimes succeeds. Those sins, too, carry penalties, but, they do not bring condemnation.

I'm NOT saying that there are big sins and little sins. Sin is sin. All sin carries the same penalty level. Condemnation here means permanent and total separation from God; eternity in Hell for the unrepentant sinner who dies in his sin. That's a lot different than penalties for true Christ followers; penalties that have an ending and do not sever our relationship with God.

So you believe that Jesus did not pay the punishment for all sin and did not take away all our sins. Well, I see a big contradiction here between your post and these scriptures, it seems that Paul did not share the same thoughts concerning redemption.

Matthew 12 v 31
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

This was our text last Lord's Day past.
It was expounded to mean that blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is those rejection of Jesus Christ.

I think it strange the way some think they can clean themselves up before they come to Jesus, they think it's a work they can do without realizing it is only Christ's blood that does redeem us and cleanse us.

Perhaps I shouldn't categorize all the same as my husband, it's only by listening to him that I understand this to be his thinking, and no matter how much I've tried to help him understand we can't do anything, it makes no differance.
Perhaps it's a lame excuse, to put off something which he really doesn't want.

I was told today about a lady whom I always persumed to be a Christian, told my Mum's neighbour that when she asked her if she was a Christian she said she was good enough, she's a well churched lady, so I'm sure she's knows the gospel. Both her and her husband are well up in years, and his answer was he likes his life the way it is, he likes his pint.

Sorry if I've strayed of the track slightly, I didn't mean to.

What about sinning against the spirit talked about in the book of Hebrews?

Hebrews 6:4-8: "It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned. Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case — the things that have to do with salvation."

Hebrews 10:26-29: "For we—sinning wilfully without compulsion after receiving the full knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and fiery zeal about to consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think those deserve to be punished who have trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has considered as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who have insulted the Spirit of grace?"

Does this mean that someone who has come to know God and has drifted away from His will cannot be forgiven?

Does this mean that someone who has come to know God and has drifted away from His will cannot be forgiven?

I took this information from my bible commentary.

Hebrews 6:4-8
These people had once been "enlightened". It is never clearly stated that they had been born again. They had heard the gospel,so they were not in darkness concerning the way of salvation. They tasted the heavenly gift: Jesus. But they had never received Him by a definite act of faith. It is possible to taste without eating or drinking. It is not enough to taste Christ; unless we eat the flesh of the Son and drink His blood: receive Him as Lord and Savior.

Partaking of the Holy Spirit: remember that the Holy Spirit carries on a pre-conversion ministry in men. Conviction and judgment, then leading them to repentance and points men the Christ. Men may partake of the Holy Spirit's benefits without being indwelt by Him.

They had tasted the good word: they had heard the gospel. Were moved by it and drawn to it. But they were like the seed that fell on the rocky ground. They received the word, but it did not take root.

Powers of the age to come: powers = miracles. Age to come = Millennial age. The miracles they witnessed were a foretaste of signs and wonders which will be performed in Christ's kingdom.

If they fall away; put Him to open shame: signifies a deliberate, malicious spurning of Christ, not just a careless disregard for Him. Indicates a positive betrayal of Him. These people are apostates. They hear the gospel, profess being a Christian, then abandon their faith and take their place with enemies of the Lord. It is a sin that can be committed only by unbelievers. By those who knowingly, willingly and maliciously turn against the Lord.

The true believer is like the land which drinks in the rain. Bringing forth useful vegetation and is blessed by God. The apostate is like land that also is well watered but bears nothing but thorns and briers, the fruit of sin. It receives but never produces. Such land is worthless. It's destiny is to be burned.

Hebrews 10:26-29
After receiving the knowledge of truth, it is deliberately sinning. Apostasy. For such a person, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. That person has decisively and conclusively rejected the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ. Therefore God has no other way of salvation to offer him. All sin is willful, but here it speaks of apostasy, as a willful sin of extraordinary seriousness.

Certain fearful expectation and judgment: there is no hope of escape. It is impossible to renew the apostate to repentance. He has knowingly and willingly cut himself off from God's grace in Christ. His fate is fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Denoting punishment that is dreadfully severe. God classes apostates with adversaries. This indicates positive opposition to Christ, not a mild neutrality.

The enormity of his sin is seen in the three charges that are leveled against him:

1 - he has trampled the Son of God underfoot. After professing to be a follower, he now brazenly asserts that he wants nothing more to do with Him. Denying any need of Christ as Savior, positively rejects Him as Lord.

2 - He has counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing. He counts as useless and unholy the blood of Christ. He had been set apart by this blood through his association with Christian people, he had been sanctified just as an unbelieving husband is sanctified by his believing wife (1 Corinth. 7:14) but that does not mean he was saved.

3 - He has insulted the Spirit of grace. The Spirit of God had illuminated him concerning the good news; convicted him of sin; and pointed him to Christ. But he had insulted the gracious Spirit by utterly despising Him and the salvation he offered.

I hope this make some sort of sense to you. I think to sum it up: these passages speak of someone who pretended to accept Christ, attended church but didn't really mean it in his heart. He wasn't saved to begin with. And after hearing the good news, having the knowledge of salvation, denies it; denies Christ and then makes a willful effort to discredit Him.

Well yea we all know that god 4gives all of our sins when we're repented

but some people think about it from another side ..they think that :hey if god will 4give us let's do w/e we want then repent
No 4 sure it's not like that. cuz they also 4got actually a bright point
that god said he's hearts and kidneys' checker.
So it's not like I will commit all sins I want then I'll CHEAT the god and say that I'm now repented

I hope u guys got my point ..My English isn't helpin me =/

Thanks for the response. I have truely been saved and have received the holy spirit no doubt in my mind. But I have fallen back into the way I was before knowing God. I'm scared that I will never be forgiven.

to quote yourself,
JesusSeeker74

it is also known as making a PROFESSION without owning a POSSESSION.
Professing Christ but NOT Possessing Christ.

I understand it best when it's put like this, but please I am not meaning to undermine anyone else's comments.

I know of two such people they are in laws to my youngest son, I gave it my best effort to speak to the Mother one day, but I learned by her speaking that she had returned with satan, no way did she want to know again Jesus, in fact she despised my reasoning altogether, you do not seem to me to be in that mind frame.

I'm sure you would be forgiven if you repent and mean it truly in your heart, what you say to Jesus.
You sound to me to be very remorseful and crave to own Jesus once again, just do it, He is the only one who can answer you, and you will know it in your very soul.

Peoples choice?

Does God forgive all sin? The ONLY one sin he does not forgive is the sin of unbelief. The unbelief in his son Jesus to love you. The unbelief in his son to bring God's grace to the repentant sinner. The unbelief to know God almighty can walk side by side with you through a personal walk by calling on Jesus as Lord. The unbelief to not turn from Mr. self the devil once you heard the call of God's truth for you. Need I say more. Every other sin is forgiven.

What is the only sin that cannot be forgiven?

Everyone is so busy quoting scripture they have forgotten to help some one who cries for help and understanding.

There is only one unforgivable sin, and that is to totally reject the holy spirit by choice. Remember that with all your heart.

Simply find a quiet place and talk to God, as a friend, tell him your sins, and fears and ask for help. Then make a real effort to change. Say Hi to God every day, and ask for help.

He has not abandoned you, does not wish you to live in fear. You have not rejected God, you have just stumbled away a bit, you are still in the circle, and a simple talk with God will fix it.

I have in past times gotten so disappointed, so full of disappointment and misunderstanding and resentful of trials of life. I came to understand that all was for a purpose. It made me strong. I now have a gentle smile and total belief and understanding of many things.
Sometimes things are allowed to make you strong.

Go say a simple prayer, one from the heart. You will find it works well.

Does God forgive all sins??

II Corth 5 17Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

18But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].

19It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).

20So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

21For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [[g]endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

The only sin that God can not forgive is rejecting Jesus Christ.

See John 16: 8 telling us the job of he Holy Spirit

8 And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment:

9About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me];

Its time people understand that the sin problem was dealt with by God on the Cross. Jesus bore your and my sin and not only yours and mine, but the sin of the whole world.

As Christians we can sin, but God does not reject us if we do. When we sin we must go to God, thank him for the finished work of Christ and obtain a cleansing of our conscience due to the condemnation sin brings. Your sins, past, present and future were laid on Jesus Christ. He was the scape goat for all mankind's sin. Just like Leviticus chapter 16 Jesus was the scape goat for all sin. Just remember, when you sinned under the Law, you had to bring a sacrifice to the priest. The priest examined the sacrifice to see that it was a perfect specimen and acceptable to be used to sacrifice for your sin. NOW HERE IS THE KEY. THE PRIEST EXAMINED THE SCAPE GOAT, NOT THE PERSON. When you sin, God examines the sacrifice who was Jesus, not you. Jesus blood was sufficient to make you righteous! When you sin, God sees you through the blood of Christ. Heb 4: 16 tells us to come boldly before God to receive grace and mercy in your time of need.

As christians we sin, God still does not wink at sin, but you can run to him when you do and find mercy, forgiveness and cleansing! As christians we must understand this great covenant of Grace and mercy that was obtained for us through Jesus Christ. It does not give us a right to willfully sin, but even in our worst moments, God still loves you and accepts you as his son/daughter! Run to God, understand your new covenant, allow his Grace to change you from inside out. Remember, run your race like a marathon, its a life time process. The more you understand what Jesus has done for you, the easier it is to live your life for him.

I enjoyed reading this reply quite a bit, it really made me look at things differently. Thank-You

I see by all these replies that there has been some very good help given here.
I do hope you have been helped, and will continue to walk with Jesus, there is no better life than the one that He gives to us, the world cannot give what Jesus does, nor even come anywhere near.

Keep walking, and talking everyday with Him, grow closer and learn His will, He loves you.
1 Peter 5 v 7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

God wont forgive you if you kill him. Lol joke

Ok, you are in trouble now. God has a sense of humor, as long as it is a sense of humor, meant with no malice and in the spirit of harmless fun and does not hurt others feelings.

Yes God does have a sense of humor, it is in me, all the time.

A great many do not understand that, but is true.
