definately the last times, each day gets us closer but Gods' timing is right not ours. However, we should at all times be ready to meet him, praying, keeping a strong and faithful bond with him, like the others have said.
These signs happening now have be there for decades but the bible tells us to be prepared. You may not know how, you may not know when, but he will do it again.
" For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the lord so cometh as a theif in the night. For when they say peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, my brethren, are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief" 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4

Jesus Christ, the name above all names be with you all.

I am absolutely 100% convinced that Jesus will return in my lifetime. That said, there are literally 1000s of God's people who are now fertiliser that were equally 100% assured that Jesus would return in their lifetime.

That little fact doesn't deter me one bit though. Don't care that they were wrong. Jesus is coming back in my lifetime. No question. Or at least my children's lifetime.

Well at least you aren't claiming Jesus will return by a certain, soon, date. It can really effect credibility lol. Some people have written books detailing the date of the Parousia. It spoils any chance of later editions when they are wrong. : p

Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

Amos 5:19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

Amos 5:20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

According to my 1966 edition NIV Study Bible, the prophesy from Amos did not refer to the end times but to a more imminent punishment from God i.e. the Babylonian Exile.

If upon perusing your local Christian Book-store you espy a book authored by 'Brakelite' entitled "Why Jesus didn't come in my Lifetime" I would, if I were you, treat said tome with no small amount of suspicion.

Seriously though, I believe the "End Times" as we so often refer to them actually began to develop in the late 18th century. So Man has been living in the last days for 200 odd years...and counting.

Do you think we are in the end times? Specifically, do you think Christ will return in your lifetime?

Even though I voted yes, I dont necessarily believe it will be in my lifetime. I'm reading Proverbs 27:1 which seems rather appropriate "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth."

I have no idea when the Lord may return, much less when He may call me home, even though I kinda like it if the rapture happened! And no I don't have a specific date for it either

I can't rightly remember my reasoning for doing this, SpiritLedEd, but I learned to interpret "the day of the Lord" as always referring to the last day ( end times ).

Does your NIV happen to explain why this cannot be referring to the last day ( end times )?

I know that a lot of people teach, and are taught, that the last days are something for true Christians to look forward to ( especially those that believe in the Pretrib Rapture ) and maybe the words of warning in Amos 5:18 make some decide that it can't be referring to the end times. But, I see a similar warning in II Peter 3:8-14.

Shouldn't "the day of the Lord" be referring to one and only one particular day?

Sorry that I have taken so long in responding. Throw me some of your thoughts on the subject.

i didnt vote because i dont think we are in "the great tribulation" but i can see its very possible that the whole thing could start up VERY soon. but look at what the word says(people who keep saying jesus could come back any day now) the word says the word will be performed before his return. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled thats matt 5:18. God honors his word. where is the antichrist? where is the mark of the beast? there are things in the bible that havent yet come. but then again i guess some people believe we wont be here for the tribulation. even though in chapter 13 of revelations it says in vs. 7.... 7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. this says christians will be on earth during the great trib. and that we will be slain.
it was explained to me that "the end days" simply refer to post death and resurection of Jesus. so since 1 AD its been the last days. so this is why i didnt vote. I dont believe the great trib has kicked off yet. however i also believe any day now.... and i dont want to be one of those virgins who didnt have any oil and the door was shut to them (matt chapter 25). tick tock.

I think maybe He will come in my lifetime...but in all...only God knows. I am glad that we do not know the exact day/hour He will come. If we did then it would be like "it's OK to live in sin until x time and x hour!" Not saying we would have permission to do so I mean.
Anyway...live like he could be here any second....ya never know...He possibly could!:immature::heart3:
