...we will find temtations in our own churches..but it doesnt stop us from going.....im not as sucessful as Id like to be in this matter but every day we need to put our thoughts under the blood to avoid a wrong response to temptations..
I'm interested in hearing what you think is a proper response to temptations, particularly that of lust. You say, "but it doesnt stop us from going". Does that mean you go, but avoid any temptations by just looking the other way? Or do you also avoid situations that you know might
potentially cause you to sin?
For instance, obviously God doesn't say anywhere in His word that we can't go to a beach on a hot day. Yet, at the beach everywhere you look there would be temptation. If we play with fire will we not get burnt? So for that reason I don't go to the beach, even though I am sure I would enjoy just relaxing there doing my own thing.
Proverbs
6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and
make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
having the mind of Christ in this life is not an easy task for even the elite of us...but it should be our goal
Yes, for sure, that is our goal! And you're right, it is not easy. Taking up and carrying our cross takes dedication, perseverance and strength. The easy road is the wide one. We strive to walk on the narrow road of faith and in obedience to God.
Anyway, back to the subject of movies. If a Christian-produced movie glorifies God, it is worth watching. I just hope these movies don't become more worldly in order to expand their market base, like how a lot of Christian singers have done, with their "cross-over" attempts. When we dilute the Word to please the masses, the message is lost, not expanded.
