I do not believe that a spirit of discernment would have anything to do with the sensing or feeling of the presence of angels or demons. My understanding of what spiritual discernment is, is in regard to understanding and knowing God through His written word. This is why the prayer in Ephesians chapter one, asks God for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, for without that we cannot begin to fathom the depths of the truth of the Mystery revealed in that Epistle concerning the Church which is the Body of Christ. The unsearchable riches of Christ which Paul would make known (Ephesians 3:8-9).

Anything that involves the senses or feelings is of the flesh and is fleshly : and feelings can be deceptive, yes? God has given us facts upon which our faith is founded, facts concerning the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, He has left nothing to the whims of our emotions, or our feelings, for that would be very shaky ground. No He laid a foundation, the rock which is Christ Jesus our Lord, for that is unshakeable and trustworthy.

Angels and demons are not for us to enquire into. They are in God's hands.

However, there is unseen activity all around us. Both demons and angels are here. I am talking about an awareness of them, which means being able to sense what people are being driven by.
If I sense evil I immediately pray to Lord Jesus for help. It is not our place to deal directly with such. Yet our awareness is best exercised.

That's interesting. I do assume it was a demon who appeared angelic, in order to try to stop the minister's good work.

I do believe such demons cannot actually do anything against us except frighten, intimidate and tempt. As soon as we pray, they flee. Just the name of Jesus Christ is sufficient.

I know of many Christians who seem to have that gift.

I may have it on a lower sense, not fully sure. I do know that God helps me connect the dots and reveals to me certain things based on people's behaviors and the consequences, whereas I would normally not connect those dots.

Being a therapist I encounter people with all types of spirits you can imagine. So for me it is a mix of having excellent clinical abilities to read people's nonverbal communication as well as God helping me connect the dots and put what I'm noticing, into context.

I do believe that is a spiritual gift. We see it when Paul discern in his spirit that the fortune teller girl in Acts? Was being empowered by an evil spirit.

We seem it all throughout Jesus ministry when He discern the craftiness and I'll motives of their questions. The scripture shares this.

And we see that the same Spirit which dwelt in Jesus dwells in us. We just don't have all the gifts at once as it is spread out through the body of Christ.

Jesus had the spirit of discernment and all the power of the Spirit, we as His children have all of these gifts dispersed throughout the body of Christ.

I would dare say that Paul was grieved in his Spirit. We are told not to grieve the Holy Spirit. And this was because His Spirit discerned the evil spirit.

So if Paul could discern, why can't we?

When I received the anointing of the Holy Spirit back in 2007 I had all sorts of miraculous things happen to me, one of which was discerning the presence of evil.

When I received the Holy Spirit I immediately began preaching the gospel to whomsoever would stand still long enough to hear it. I preached to family, friends, fellow workers, and complete strangers.

I preached to my brother, and he was converted. And I told my brother to start reading the Holy Bible, and let the Lord teach him by His Spirit.

Well my brother told me he did not have a Bible. So I told him I would take him to the mall to get him one there at the book store. So I drove him to the mall and got him his first Bible.

And so my brother said to me, while we are at the mall, he wanted to get his wife a gift for her birthday that was coming up. So my brother spots this store, and says let’s go in here and see what they have.

And As soon as I passed through the threshold of the doors to enter into the store I had a very strange and uneasy feeling come over me. It was like a cold dark feeling of an evil presence. And I immediately told my brother, there is evil in this store.

But my brother insisted we look around the store. So We walked through the store, and worked our way to the back of the store, where I then saw what was causing the presence of darkness that I had felt.

At the very back of the store was a woman dressed all in black. She had black hair, black makeup, black nails, black clothes , everything was dark about her. She was also covered with piercings and tattoos.

But what she was doing confirmed to me the darkness that was in her. She was fortune telling to another woman by using those Taro cards.

Then I knew this was why I felt this presence of evil by the Holy Spirit. After seeing this evil with his own eyes, my brother then agreed we should leave the store.

Absolutely, this is what I meant. Once the Holy Spirit is with us, we sense where evil lurks. That woman was misguided and her soul in great danger. Our job is to pray for her to change her ways and be released from the hold evil has of her mind.

Oh, you have that ability too? There a few of us out there, but not that common. I can pick up energy from people a mile away, amongst other abilities others dont seem to have.

Its a lot more than just sensing the presence of Angels and demons.

Discernment covers many things in both the physical and spiritual.

As an example . You can distinguish who is speaking to you the Father , Jesus or the Trinity as 1 . The Holy Spirit is altogether different

Oh I am not that advanced.
All I am aware of is an alert feeling from certain people, a bad vibe. I can see they are driven by bad forces and I act accordingly as well as praying for them along with protection for myself.

I would never say to anyone that I am so advanced because that's where Pride steps in and that's where you fall when you think it's you and not God or you put God on the back seat

But what you wrote there is excellent.

You're correct that that bad vibe is a movement of the Holy Spirit within you. Learn to pay attention to that. Even more so learn to recognize the peace of God in your heart. Once you've learned to recognize God's peace in your heart God will move mountains through you.

I really like the part where you said that after you discerned the bad vibes that you prayed for them but also even more importantly that you ask God to protect you.

You may think of it as being selfish but don't let the devil deceive you with that it is very important that God protects us when we encounter Darkness.

Unfortunately nowadays probably the most important time to ask God to protect you from the darkness is when you go to church because you never know the type of preacher that's going to stand before you spouting off all sorts of things and unfortunately so much false teaching.

I've spoken at many churches over the years and have spoken to many pastors about having a group of people pray before the service, for those coming into the service and for the pastors that the darkness would not cause distraction and that the Lord would open all to the Spirit more fully

Hello everyone I want to throw in a couple of things here first of all I know it's really important to recognize God's peace in your heart. It is the one thing that the Lord has stressed to me over the years more so than anything else.

Another thing I want to encourage you to try doing is understanding that the gifts are not limited I know there's seven of them mentioned in the scripture but they're just samples the Lord has told me that the only limit to the gifts are the limit of your own imagination.

Another thing that I have worked on for a number of years is mixing the gifts this is something that's not really taught much but you can do it easily enough if you have a gift of sight mix it with your healing if you have a gift of discernment you can mix it with your gift of site and healing as well cuz you can discern exactly what someone needs and you can see it in them too.

The best thing to do when it comes to learning to experience what the different gifts are is being with other people that you can trust who are friends and that are open to whatever the spirit wishes to dish out because it's really fascinating and it's a beautiful thing all the different gifts.

Don't ever let the devil say that it can't be done or my personal favorite from the Devil is it isn't real you're just thinking about it in your mind.

I think that you will find that there are many people with different types of gifts or abilities as you wish to call them it's just that there are so many churches that teach there are only seven gifts and those gifts are not in that list so they're not exactly willing to come forward and talk about them

As for myself I'm not afraid to talk about the gifts of the Spirit but on the other hand I don't want to sit there and brag about it either. We have to remember that we're here not for getting the likes or the positive reactions of others but we're here because the Lord has sent us here

I think you're missing something very important that is that Jesus was both flush and spirit at the same time. And throughout the life of Jesus you'll find that forgiveness for instance and healing walk hand in hand this is the spiritual and the physical walking hand in hand.

Look at the response that Jesus had to the man who was let down through the roof when he was questioned. Jesus forgave him of his sins first then after being harassed by the Pharisees Jesus told the man get up and walk

The spiritual has to take place first before the physical can happen.

The apostles noted that there were so few healings in one town and Jesus responded with there is little faith again you have spirituality or faith has to be present before the physical can take place

The same thing is true with all the spiritual gifts they walk hand in hand with the physical

Just one other thing we ourselves are not physical people, the body that we inhabit is the Temple of the Holy Spirit but our true selves Are Spiritual

To be honest with you that would not make sense scripturally there are some people who God draws into the battle with the darkness

Obviously Elijah was well aware of what was going on it didn't freak him out to see Angels fighting with people

Don't be so quick to make judgments on what is allowed and whatnot is not allowed when it comes to the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit there are a lot of things that surprise all of us

My experience is limited to that which is within the parameters of the life which God has given me to live. Thank you for your kindness

Something that comes to my mind has to do with the scripture in reference to what people think that they can eat. Some will only eat vegetables, others will only eat meat and yet there are others who will eat everything.

Now this is actually talking about where we are spiritually but there's a little catch to it all and I have to believe that everyone thinks that they are a meat eater or can eat everything as often as they wish.

The fact is where that person is right now they will think they know they have learned they have studied all there is to study and yet they are still only a beginner. And it sounds a little bit crazy if you think about somebody that study the Bible 80 years there life and you would think they know everything about the scripture. But they too are only beginners.

Some years ago in some stupid moment of pride I was thinking I knew so much when an angel told me I knew less than 1%..

I'm not saying that you think you know everything not that at all but where you are at now is only a smidge of where you're going to be at later.

May the Lord's wisdom fill you
