Does anyone here possess the gift of spiritual discernment? It is the ability to sense and feel the presence of both angels and demons.
It is not the gift of discernment but rather the gift in the church (Spirit-filled disciples) of discerning spirits
1Cor 12:10 and to another workings of powers; and to another prophecy; and to another
discernings of spirits: to another kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues; [NENT]
(DRB) To another the working of miracles: to another, prophecy: to another,
the discerning of spirits: to another, diverse kinds of tongues: to another, interpretation of speeches.
(LEB) to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another
distinguishing of spirits, to another kinds of tongues, to another interpretation of tongues.
(YLT) and to another in-workings of mighty deeds; and to another prophecy; and to another
discernings of spirits; and to another
divers kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues:
A notable and very essential gift for discipleship when prayed for in assistance to sorting out the truth concerning other doctrines, or the works of the enemy, or the source of alleged inspired best seller books.
For example, a friend who came to the Lord in our Pentecostal church left to join an extreme charismatic church and kept egging me on to join him over there.
Being new in the Lord I was confused and not sure if the claims to their signs and wonders were a better option for me to pursue. He was persuasive in his selling points.
So I got down on my knees and prayed in tongues to Jesus to show me which of the two churches HE approved of - which would be better for my walk.
Well I certainly received a revelation from the Lord on this issue, and suffice to say that I never left where the Lord had brought me to join that charismatic option.
God revealed to me that if a Spirit-filled disciple is not also in submission to the word of God then they make themselves vulnerable to the enemy and his deceits.
Col 2:18 Let no one rob you of a prize by voluntary humility and worship of the angels, dwelling in what things he hath seen, vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh
