Alright, tell me whats up with the old saying of GOD Bless american?. I like to say GOD Bless the whole world, only because GOD is not going to bless one nation and leave the rest out, just wouldnt make sense. And besides, american from my viewpoint is not the greatest land on GOD's footstool. Its a nice place to lived and may be more stable then a few other lands, but not the best.

How about this WORLD BLESS GOD!!!!!!!you seem to have alot of issues.Ive seen your threads and posts and you (claim)to know everything about the bible.I also see alot of arguemenative statements.Does not the bible say not to argue beliefs because next to salvation they do not matter.I suggest you be humbled by gods love and learn to love your brothers and sisters and not fight with them. Love for our fellow christians is witness to our salvation.amen

Brother in Christ: I never once said that i know everything or hinted at it, not once did i ever say that. I also never agure with anyone when talking to the good news, do you not read my posts? Because i said a few times, to have fun, and have a good time when discussing the bible. Why would i agure, when i was taught to dust your feet off and depart from that person if someone does not want to listen. We all are living with different opinions and views on things, so i say talk about it and have fun.

strypes: How can someone win a war if one person dies ?

There are no winners for war, but there are winners for those who pray for peace and not fight against their neighbors. You really can not say GOD Bless america, becasue using the word bless is suppose to be for all of us living in this world, GOD who is righteous will never bless one land and leave the rest of lands out of his reach.

Do you think its righteous ones only in america ?

AMEN SISTER STRYPES!!!
Yes, God Bless America and the world........and to repeat what I heard earlier, let us all the world bless God!!\

I guess yall one of those people who would die for this land , or server this country right?

What they call it, um patriotism or something like that. Oh well, if you like to say GOD Bless america, and not say GOD Bless the world, thats your business. I notice bush does the same thing, but he always says , GOD Bless America, and not once does he say GOD Bless the World, and right after he says this, you have to wonder why he never says it the other way around.

I think deep down millions of people in this country really think America is the greatest country. I cant say i agree tho, because right up and down the street from me, its a strip club and drug dealers on the corner, not to mention porn business waaaaay up the street from me, lets see, homeless people, murder, crooked business man, oh yea, i can see how america is the greatest land, forget the rest of the lands right?

See alot of things that people do in this world, alot of people are aware of alot of things, i guess you never thought someone would rise this question right, well let me be the first one to rise it up on talkjesus.

Yes i see what your saying and our country is in sad shape. It all comes from our government taking god out of everything they can.We are all strangers in a land that is not our own.I myself bless god and other people from other countries. One day soon everyone will see their error and wish thay let god in everywhere.A country is made up by its people and there are over 90,000,000 million catholics in america let alone other denominations. These are your brothers and sisters in christ who whether you like it or not are going to spend eternity with you.Well the ones that make it anyway.I hope they all do! Infact the very statement you are condemning puts god in the ear of many american non-believers WOW.You know what GOD BLESS AMERICA!I was just reminded my job is to bring god to those who dont know him. GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER

Legandary where do you live? I live in Ohio so therefore I would ask God to Bless where I live I also ask for God to Bless other nations. I don't know if you realize this brother Legandary but you kindda sound you are hating America. I try and humble myself to others that includes people from different countries. As should all humble themselves. I have not seen anyone saying "America is the best country in the whole world and we are better" No matter what country you live in now in heaven it wont matter We are brothers and sisters in Christ it is that simple! Bickering is fruitless.

God is blessing and has blessed America so abundantly; however I am afraid her judgment will be severe because of the knowledge she has of God, what He has done for/with/in her, yet she has almost literally turned from her Godly heritage. As Americans, we have many privileges that are being taken away from us little by little. We have been proud, but have failed in our praying for her to be guided in God's light.
We have defended her with our lips, but not with our hearts. In that I mean, that we do not do all possible by contacting our leaders to uphold Godly principles and we allow a few people to set the standards for this nation, take away our privileges, and
kill our helpless/defenseless/elderly. We do love America, even though she also has her faults. She is in desperate need of a touch from God, but the Christians are the ones who have to ask God to touch them first, so they can/will pray and stand behind this nation, whom God has so graciously blessed.

this happens in every country in all parts of the world.. and i agree it is uselss to argue over.

Hi all,

I just found this thread and want to respond, but while I don't want to incite or invoke anyone's anger or imply "I'm right, your're wrong", I have to state that I hate America.

More accurately, I hate what America has become and while I strive not to hate people themselves, I certainly hate the things people do.

Sure there are some great things about our country, but if you've never been out of the country and seen other parts of the world, your perception may be a little skewed (that a word?). I was in the Navy and was stationed in the "far east" for three years. During that time I saw and experienced things that really changed my perceptions. I also served during the gulf war which had a big impact on me.

These days I am trying to build a closer and stronger relationship with Jesus and find my way in this world, but one passage of scripture that always comes to mind when I think of the world we live in is 1 John 2:15-16

15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

I don't consider myself an american, but a Christian who just happens to live in america. I mean, for anyone who believes in Christ and that he died and rose again, this is not our home. Should I, or any believer, then defend a place we don't even want to be?

Sorry if this upsets anyone, I just feel very strongly about this particular topic.

Love in Christ,

Dave

Its interesting that everyone dodged responding to Dave's post. I think he has a fair point...

From a different side of it, it seems that the people here who are supporting the use of 'God Bless America' are American themselves. True, true, that wasn't hard to guess...but do you not consider it a supreme statement of arrogance?

America is one of relatively few democracies where the church actually has a surprisingly large voice, at least in theory. President Bush has to say 'God Bless America', especially when doing un-Christian things like going to war. Blair, on the other hand, has not once invoked God in his speeches - he asked (and is still asking, as it happens) us to trust him.

Partly, that's a commentary on how little the church has to do with British politics, but given the horrific damage that the church has done to us in the past (two civil wars and about two hundred years of intermittent religious warfare with Europe), it's hardly surprising.

However, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say 'God bless England' except in reference to football, with pleas for the almighty to intercede in our favour and give us a goal. The last time anyone really did was during and before the two world wars...and even then, nowhere near as much as the US. Our real 'God is with us, he must be' time was during the height of the British Empire.

What do you think the effect is, though, of one country loudly and regularly asking God to bless them, with no thought to others in the world? Apart from it being like the kid who shouts 'Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!' from the back of the class, its one of the things that gets noticed by cynical Christians outside America's borders. Oh, I don't think for a second that it damages the overall Christian faith, but it does erode America's reputation - even amongst its allies.

Please tell me what america is doing right now that deserves God's blessing? I am not asking that to be sarcastic or start arguments or anything along those lines. I just sincerely would like to know your thoughts on why those of you saying "God bless america" believe this country (as a whole) deserves being blessed.

Love in Christ,

Dave

Ok I can tell this is getting ugly but I can't help but reply its almost like driving down the street and seeing afire truck ya just have to stare. Let me say that I Don't think America is the best place that it could be, but I do believe it has alot going for it. Now I am truly grateful as all American's should be that we are able to go to Church freely and not worry about being stoned. Everyone should realize that freedom has a price and it is very sad what is happening here I agree. No nation is above any other nation but that doesn't mean one can not show there happiness with where they live.

Some people are arrogant and think they are better than others but as brothers and sisters in Christ we need and should stop being so rough on each other. This world is not our home we are only visitors here does arguing over this make any difference?

Does this topic really bring any GLORY to GOD? No It just shows more division between brothers and sisters. Let us remember our priorities here.

1) Our Relationship with God
2) Our relationship with husband or wife
3) Our children
4) family and friends, fellowship

While everyone has their way of thinking can someone give scripture where it says this is a really important topic? I Don't want just blessing for myself but for the WHOLE world and all the leaders. We all should!

God blessed me with salvation. I was not deserving of his blessing. I was a sinner, that had rebelled against God and done what I wanted to do. God blessed me anyway. God's blessing was so powerful that I realized what I was. Now I will spend the rest of my life working for God in the ways that he shows me in order to earn the blessing of salvation that he has already granted me through Jesus Christ. I don't think of "God bless America" as a war cry, a statment of arrogance or a belief in superiority. I see the phrase as hope. America's founders created a government "of the people, by the people and for the people." In essence, saying "God bless America" is saying "God save the people". Now think what any country would be like if everyone recieved God's gift of salvation. Remember the statement isn't "God has blessed America" or "God bless only America" just "God bless America."

God Bless wherever you live ! Just say it . God Blesses nations that acknowledge him . Allot of Americans do that . India is starving because they worship cows . So God bless India ! It wont make a difference until they stop worshiping cows , and start worshiping God . Maybe I should say , cow bless India . Or maybe I should say , no God bless France . If you're from England , then I know you have said God bless the Queen ! Say what you want . I live in America , so God Bless America . Oh and God Bless George Bush !!!! BROTHERSINARMST4G

Hmm...God 'save' the Queen is a little different. Firstly, its our national anthem and is generally sung whether or the singer is particularly Christian or not. More to the point, the Queen is a figurehead. No-one has ever been offended by Brits asking God to save the Queen. God bless the Queen is sufficiently rare as to be unheard of. All our anthem asks God to do is to keep the Queen alive and well and doing good things for Britain...one might add that it appears to be working.

Its a different thing asking God to have one person in their thoughts, especially when that one person is important to a lot of people, than it is to ask God to bless a national group, or even a person, especially if that national group is using faith in God to justify rather unpleasant actions to non-nationals (the crux of the problem, as I see it).

How can I phrase this better...Brits would ask God to guide Tony Blair's actions, or to 'save' the Queen, keep her alive and well for our sake. We do not ask for God to bless the actions of a warmongerer, or to bless those who were born in England for, because they were born in England, they deserve blessings. There is a big difference.

As for India worshipping cows and thus being in poverty and starvation, I think that's a little extreme. Cynic I may be, but I don't think that a sudden conversion to Christianity would bring a rain of rice. Their problems are more deep-seated than that. Look at some of the countries in Africa who are about as devoutly Christian as anyone can be, and yet are still struggling on the poverty line.

However, this isn't getting ugly. If differences of opinion, and the right to discuss them are not tolerated, then *that* is ugly. This conversation might not be bringing any glory to God, but if it brings understanding to his children then I think it serves just as true a purpose. Being devout in your beliefs, be they Christian or Nationalist, doesn't necessarily make you right.

Actually when people resort to rude behavior it is ugly and unChristlike. I am done posting in this thread because I don't think anyone is really trying to here me. I feel that you can talk about this all you want everyone but unless people want to learn they wont hear you or understand. God Bless Everyone!

I don't think it's getting ugly either, it's just disscussion.

I would like to clarify that I am extremely grateful to God for where I live and all that he has given me and mine. I don't hate the physical world or the ground we call america (He made that and I would never hate anything done by His hand), I hate the society of the world (that make sense?).

God is everywhere, always. So I want to love where I am since I know he's there, but I want to have separation from worldly things also (something I am working to do so I can be closer to God).

Because of my nature, the things in this world can bring me down easily, so I have started trying to distance myself from them as much as I can. Things like movies, non-christian music, sports, or basically anything that has the potential to pull me away from what God wants from and for me.

Hmmm.... I think I may have gotten off topic a bit. I'll just close by saying, that I prefer to ask God to bless His children who believe in Him, His word, and seek His will.

Love in Christ,

Dave
