Have you ever been phrophesized about???

People in your church probably do have the gift of prophecy and God does use people to speak the things of God. But....wouldn't you also rather hear from the Lord himself concerning His calling for you?
It's nice to have peoples' approval, but it's essential to have His calling. Remember who it is that calls you in the first place and center your love and devotion on Him. I am glad to see you are excited about serving Him!

Yes it's very good that you were given a prophesy from a "seer".As a matter of fact every believer is suposed to be a "prophet" i.e being able to know what God is saying to us pertime and even about the future through the help of the holy spirit.Remember that Jesus said "i will send you a comforter who will tell you about the future..."Let us all develop the art of listening to God for ourselves...It pays!

If man (whether he is a man of God or whater ever) can predict future, then what about the role of prayer....? what about the question of freedom...? Can God not act out of his free will?

Once I happened to meet a man and he began to say every thing about my past, espcially about my problems with my wife.

This was not the gift of Prophecy. Many people get the gifts of the Holy Spirit mixed up with one another.

The Gift of Word of Knowledge is a revelation Gift expressing certain facts past and present concerning a person or situation.

The Gift of Word of Wisdom is a revelation Gift that expresses God's plan for our lives (personal or corporate) in the future.


The Gift of Prophecy is a vocal inspiration Gift and is the direct message from God through a person to a person or group.

There is also something else to consider here, was it even the Holy Spirit at work? Satan knows our past but he isn't Omnipresent like God so he doesn't know our future.

So this is where we need another Gift of the Holy Spirit to function. The Gift of Discerning of Spirits is a revelation Gift that revels to us if the Spirit is human, satanic/demonic or the Holy Spirit.

Thank you Jiggy fly for your clarification. I do feel I need to grow more in Discerning of Spirits. But often I come across persons(evangelists/ pastors) so good in Healing, blessed with the gift of prophecy and so on, are not persons of integrity in their personal life. So I find it very difficult to take guidance from them. Can you show me the way? I wish to grow more in the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I see the same things many times and its shameful and harmful. I will be happy to express what knowledge I have on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, but I will open a new thread for it. It may take me a day or two so thank you for being patient with me.

Some years ago one Pastor told me I'd have a very important decision to make that will change my life forever, I worried at first but then I thought that maybe he was false. About a year later an African Pastor was visiting another church that I was also visiting and said the same thing with more details.
This Pastor told me not to worry because God will help me make this decision and I will know when that time reaches. Well it has happened and still is happening actually. God has been good though!
I don't always believe everything everyone tells me but when in your heart you are comfortable, that could be comfirmation. We all have access to the Holy Spirit and He will guide us so we really do not always need a prophet but then God gave gifts to all of us for the edifing of the saints.
Now what I've learnt is that we are all not perfect and God is still working on us. When God give gifts, He rarely takes it away. He is sometimes even closer to us when we stray but God will use whom He choose too.

My experience with the institutions so called prophets has been simular. They give very general or vague words until they see you react to it and then add more. This is carnal plain and simple. They are operating in the same power as a fortune teller. When this happens it is not prophetic it is pathetic.
