Creamy Fruit Dessert

Ounce for ounce, mandarin oranges have about 40 percent less vitamin C than oranges do, but they have nearly three times the vitamin A (carotenes).

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces fat-free cream cheese, softened
    1/2 cup plain fat-free yogurt
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained
1 can (8.25 ounces) water-packed sliced peaches, drained
1 can (8 ounces) water-packed pineapple chunks, drained
    4 tablespoons shredded coconut, toasted

Directions

In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, yogurt, sugar and vanilla. Using an electric mixer on high speed, beat until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine the oranges, peaches and pineapple. Add the cream cheese mixture and fold together. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled.
Transfer to a serving bowl or individual bowls. Garnish with shredded coconut and serve immediately.

God calls us to moderation in all things :)

Peace be unto you :)

Dear Danibear,

God calls us to moderation and balance in ALL things...whether it is studying, exercise, sleeping, or EATING. :)

But to simplify things...I'll give you the secret.

Only Jesus Himself, Who truly lives in the center of your human spirit,
begs us to GLADLY AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY let Jesus alone forever have TOTAL control over every decision of our daily lives...so that Jesus can save us, keep us, and guide us in His Truth about Eternal things as well as every day things...so that it will truly be Well or Emmanu-el Jesus with our souls. :)

instead of seeking dos and donts about what to do and not to do...and what to eat and not to eat...why dont you do what Abraham our spiritual father of all true believers in God did?

Abraham believed God, as God tells us in,
Genesis 15:6, "And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness."

And God tells us again in Galatians 3:6, "Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."

but what we dont realize is that God gave Abraham the gift of WHOLEHEARTED faith in Jesus God's Promised Messiah, therefore Abraham was always singlemindedly WHOLEHEARTEDLY focused on trusting and seeking The Invisible Jesus within Him (Isaiah26:3,4)
(Proverbs3:5,6)

And God has shown me, that if I will simply do like Abraham did...and WHOLEHEARTEDLY TRUST AND SEEK AND LOVE GOD OUR FATHER AND OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST ALONE FOREVER...then God will faithfully lead me, gently lovingly correct me if I get off track, and always save me...from myself, from sin, from all the forces of evil and from the flesh and from the evil world :)

But I must continually WILL to do things God's Good Way alone forever truly only...whether it SEEMS like the best thing to do or not...cuz God My Good Father truly and forever and WHOLEHEARTEDLY always knows best :)

----------

I said all the above to say this. God calls us to moderation and balance in all things. I've been reading a book lately...that says to help your body maintain its normal acid-alkaline balance in its blood...
by eating at least 5 servings of GREEN (for the stored up sun energy in them) veggies a day...along with at least a gallon of water a day...instead of white refined sugar and white refined flour...which jolts the blood with an over load of sugar acid...which triggers overactive insulin production...which eventually if not corrected can lead to diabetes.

So help you body out by only eating 80 percent GREEN veggies...lean beef, lean chicken, and lean fish, and lean pork...and then only a few
NATURAL sweets like fresh fruits...such as apples, oranges...bananas...strawberries...blueberries...avacados...melons etc.

Then you will be full of GOOD THINGS...and will not be as tempted with the bad. :)

Does canned fruit count if its packed in it's own juice and not
corn syrup? I find it hard to eat fresh fruit, and I always drink
100% fruit juice to make up for it.
And yes, if I eat healthy I wont be tempted with fatty and greasy foods.
I am in the medical academy in my high school, and have learned about
the long term effects of junk food. I might not notice anything besides
a lack of energy but later on, in my golden years, everything could
just go kuh-put. So I have tried to eat things that come naturally
and are provided by God, nothing much produced from a factory.
Temptation comes easily when my sister eats pork rinds and greasy potato chips and tv dinners

yogurt-almond ice cream

This creamy dessert is easy to make. Instead of preparing a custard, all you need is chilled yogurt and vanilla soy milk. It's as simple as whisking the two together with honey, canola oil and nuts.

serves 6

Ingredients

2 cups fat-free plain yogurt, without gum additives or stabilizers
1 cup low-fat vanilla soy milk (soya milk), chilled
1/3 cup honey
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 cup coarsely chopped almonds

Directions
Place a bowl in the freezer to chill.
In another bowl, whisk together the yogurt, soy milk, honey and canola oil until well blended. Pour the mixture into an ice-cream maker and prepare according to the manufacturer's instructions.
When the ice cream is firm, transfer to the chilled bowl and add the nuts. Stir gently to distribute evenly. Serve immediately or store in the freezer until ready to serve.

Apple Berry Cobbler

This fruit cobbler is a lighter, fresher version of the fat-laden, biscuit-topped dessert. Very low in fat

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
    1 cup fresh blueberries
    2 cups chopped apples
2 tablespoons turbinado or brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1 teaspoon lemon zest
    2 teaspoons lemon juice
    1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
    For the topping
Egg white from 1 large egg
    1/4 cup soy milk
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 tablespoons turbinado or brown sugar
    3/4 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly coat 6 individual oven-proof ramekins or souffle dishes with cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, add the raspberries, blueberries, apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest and lemon juice. Stir to mix evenly. Add the cornstarch and stir until the cornstarch dissolves. Set aside.
In a separate bowl add the egg white and whisk until lightly beaten. Add the soy milk, salt, vanilla, sugar and pastry flour. Stir to mix well.
Divide the berry mixture evenly among the prepared dishes. Pour the topping over each. Arrange the ramekins on a large baking pan and place in oven.
Bake until the berries are tender and the topping is golden brown, about 30 minutes. Serve warm.

I really like this, its great that you are making sure your eating healthy...it's one thing to be worried about one's weight to the point of starving oneself, but you make sure people who read this see that there is a way to enjoy food, without going that far. Eating healthy is a choice everyone should be making. Regardless of what weight they are. I myself eat a banana in my oatmeal every morning with a glass of milk or juice.

Thank you so much ^-^ I am not concerned about my weight at all, it is perfect to me, but there is nothing wrong with eating healthy. When I used
to not control myself, I would drink a whole 2 liter of mountain dew in a day
and eat a bunch of chips and cookies and icecream, and then be too full
to eat a healthy dinner. After having pain, I was so scared it was a kidney
stone, that I changed the way I ate...it wasnt a kidney stone but it woke me up and realized I was literally putting myself at rish for long term affects.

I am waitng for some chocolatechip mint cookies or something please?? lol

I have looked in several places and sites, and I can't find one
recipe for a healthier chocolate chip cookie or
choco. mint anywhere! I shall keep hunting, and if I still
cant come up with anything, I shall post the recipe that
is healthiest...mostly using whole wheat flour in chocolate
chip cookies makes it better, as long as you use something like
dark chocolate chips....in all my experiences, the whole wheat
flour makes the cookies taste like saw dust unless you use a strong
chocolate chip :dizzy:

Apples with Dip

By using fat-free cream cheese instead of full-fat cream cheese, you save 143 calories and 19 grams of fat — most of which is saturated fat — in each serving. Also, to save time, you can just slice up some apples, and dip in caramel...something not many people actually think about when trying healthy dessert recipes.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fat-free cream cheese
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
    2 tablespoons chopped peanuts
    1/2 cup orange juice
    4 apples, cored and sliced
Directions

Place the cream cheese on the counter to allow it to soften, about 5 minutes.
To make the dip, combine the brown sugar, vanilla and cream cheese in a small bowl. Mix until smooth. Stir in the chopped peanuts.
Place the apples in another bowl. Drizzle orange juice over the apples to prevent browning. Serve the sliced apples with the dip.
