Horror Movies & Christians? Don't sound right

Radio

Yes, I do know and have listened but have CD on at present
Kirk Franklin, it's just ok, have better one's, we used to get UCB radio
but they refused their licience as they didn't want any Christian Music on the wavebands but they've been fighting it since, I loved it too,
but trusting in God it will resume in the near future.
Thank you for your kindness.

After reading your thread, I believe the number one reason we should not go to horror movies is because it instills fear into us. According to Timothy, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

When we willingly subject ourselves to violent and objectionable material we are destroying our soulish realm. Rom 12: 1-2 tells us not to be conformed to this world. We do this by renewing our minds. What we put into our minds, paints pictures and why have a horror film or a movie filled with filth dominate our thinking? The more you expose yourself with horror the more your thought life will be dominated with this type of behavior. It also causes you to grow callous toward violent acts and over time you will need to see more graphic violence and horror to fulfill what ever you get out of these types of movies.

When I was 14 years old I went with friends to a double movie night. Both movies were horror movies. One was the Tales of the crypt and the Mark of the devil. I vowed never to go to those types of movies again. I am now 51 and have not seen these types of movies since that day. It took years for some of the gruesome images to leave my thought life and the fear it introduced into my life took time to fade away. So, my opinion is as Christians we should never expose ourselves to these types of films.

God bless you,

Trucker
Amen Trucker. Personally I've been dealing with the spirit of fear since I was about 18. The last scary film that I saw was the sixth sense and there was a particular scene where the guy turned around and the back of his head was blown off. That was enough to scare me for yearssssssss because my apartment was set up like the one in the movie, so as I gazed into my living room for my bedroom, I would have mental visions of the guy with his brains hanging out walking in my living room!!

Stay away from horror movies because it opens the door for fear and fear is not from God!!!

I agree, I use to watch them just for the fear. Until I saw 13 Ghost, that kept me up for days. I kept seeing the images in my head, in my room...and I had to pray about it.
All praises to God.
No R rated films for me.

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." (Jas 4:8) When I surrender my will and my life to the Lord's control on a daily basis, I find that He is with me whether I feel Him or not and that temptation to watch horror movies doesn't come to me.

I like 'em too.
I'm just more of a "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" kind of guy than a "The Grudge" fan.

The cabinet of Dr. Caligari....wow, I enjoyed that old movie.
I think I'm in the same page as you in that I enjoy the old scary/dramatic entertainment. As I said in an earlier post, I can't watch violence or blood. Even those special effects bothers me. I look for lighter entertainment with a twist.

I enjoy the old Twilight Zones. Some of those stories can't be label horror, more like drama. For instance, my favorite story is "Time Enough", when a book-loving man finally has all the time in the world to read all the books in the world. And then what happens....I won't give away the ending! :shade:
Those stories have a great twist at the ending that makes you to think.
