The Word is a double-edged sword. One verse can stand alone with conviction to the spirit. The Word of God is living and will endure forever. . God himself is the author of the entire book, and all scripture is profitable, for teaching and relationship with our savior.
Nothing is ordinary about the word of God, those without the Holy Spirit will never know or understand the word of God.

and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth
his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper.
Josh 1:8
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all
that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then
thou shalt have good success.
U - UNDERSTANDING
Ps.19:8
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of
the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Ps.119:130
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the
simple.

John 5:39
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are
they which testify of me.
Acts 10:43
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever
believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
John 20:31
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

The Word is compared to seed.
1 Pet.1:23
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word
of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The seed symbolizes eternity in that it has the capacity for eternal life. Jesus
is
The Seed of the woman (Gen.3:15).
Gen.3:15
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed
and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
R - REVERENTIAL FEAR
Deut 4:10
10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb,
when the Lord said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make
them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall
live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
Ps 86:11
Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear
Your name.
Job 28:28
28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to
depart from evil is understanding.
Deut 6:6-8
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them
when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

P - PROTECTION
The Word protects the believer. The Word is an offensive and a defensive
weapon. It is part of the armour of God (Eph.6) called the sword of the Spirit.
Those who lack knowledge of the Word of God will perish.
Hos.4:6
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected
knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing
thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Ps.119:92
92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine
affliction.
O - ORIENTATION
It directs the believer (guides).
1. IT IS LIKE A LAMP
Ps.119:105
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
IT IS LIKE A STAR
2 Pet.1:19
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye
take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and
the day star arise in your hearts:
2. IT IS LIKE A GOAD
Eccl.12:11
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of
assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
All of these symbolize the guidance characteristics of the Word.
S - SANCTIFICATION
It purifies the believer.
John 15:3
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
John 17:17
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
2Tim.3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
1Pet.1:22
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure
heart fervently:
IT IS LIKE:
1. FIRE
Jer.23:29
29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that
breaketh the rock in pieces?
It burns everything that is not of God.
2. HAMMER
Jer.23:29
29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that
breaketh the rock in pieces?
It destroys every hindrance to sanctification.
3. SWORD
Heb.4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
It separates things of the flesh from the things of the spirit.
4. WATER
Eph.5:26
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ps.119:9
9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto
according to thy word.
It cleanses.
5. MIRROR
James 1:23-25
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man
beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth
what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed
in his deed.
It reveals sin.
E - EDIFICATION
Ps.119:28
28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to
depart from evil is understanding.
Acts 20:32
32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace,
which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them
which are sanctified.
THE WORD EDIFIES THROUGH:
1. COMFORT
Ps.119:50
50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
1Thess.4:18
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
2. INSTRUCTION
2Tim.3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
1Cor.10:11
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are
written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
It is like a counsellor.
Ps.119:24
24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.
3. ENCOURAGEMENT AND HOPE
Rom.15:4
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
The word is like rain, giving hope and encouragement.
Is.55:10-11
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not
thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may
give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return
unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper
in the thing whereto I sent it.
4. ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL LIFE
1John 5:13
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of
God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the
name of the Son of God.
5. BLESSING
Ps.119:1
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
Luke 11:28
28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and
keep it.
Rev.1:3
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy,
and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
6. NOURISHMENT
THE WORD IS LIKE:

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow
thereby:

Ps.19:10
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter
also than honey and the honeycomb.
6.3. BREAD
Matt.4:4
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
6.4. SOLID FOOD
Heb.5:14
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by
reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
