I keep messing up!

Anyway...

Salvation may be an "instant" thing that happens the moment you accept it, but your walk with God is a journey, not a light switch.

Don't expect every last aspect of your nature to change overnight. It took the Devil himself every minute of every hour from the day of your birth to the day you accepted Salvation to "mess you over" into whatever patterns of sin you formerly accepted. It's going to take you a bit of work to get out from under all of that.

Thanksfor your encouragement but I've been born again since 98 and I still seem to keep messing up. I know I shouldn't be hard on myself but I think I should have gotten to a level in my salvation where certain things dont tempt me. I know it all takes Gods help and maybe there's something I'm doing wrong.

Keep persevering in prayer.I have read some of the responses and most are soild and helpful if you take them to heart. Even the very long response was posted with the best of intentions even though it was very long and as a previous member said ultimately very confusing. A just man can fall seven days a week and temptation surrounds us. We live in a material world where for some anything goes and there in lies the temptation. Talk to God , if possible find a good and prayerful fellowship.Communicating directly on a personal level with our Father will help you discover your true inner self and your determination to overcome the enemy will win out in the end.You are trying and God respects that so He will not ignore your cry for help. I prayed for you last night at one of our Holy Week services. I hope that on Easter Sunday you will rise and overcome your doubts and fears and begin a new, peaceful era in your life. God Bless you and yours.

To me, how AndrewNicholas responded is a good answer, LuckyLady.

Jesus never promised us a rose garden. Jesus even told his beloved friend, Peter, that Peter would deny him. Through the Holy Spirit we overcome sin on a daily basis. But to say that we are without sin, makes us a liar. I quoted the verse in Galatians previously.

I think Spirit1st said all that in good faith and with the right intentions. The Bible is not static,it is living and it speaks to all of us not in one way, but in different ways in different times.

By the way all that Spirit1st is Scriptural ,but maybe it does not apply to this particular issue.

If he erred,lets correct him in Love as in Galatians 6:1-2

I too stand to be corrected.

Love you all :love::love::love::love:

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

We are spirits , dwelling in weak flesh!
Mat 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Here was the point?
If wee say we are sinners and cannot help but be sinners? Guess what ,We will sin!
The scriptures tell us?We cannot sin ,It is talking about our spirits and not our flesh!
But, we believe ,every word we speak,and we live those words!
our words are very important and they become truth!
We live our very words!

Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

You understand? What we confess ?Becomes truth.That is why ? We must confess with outr mouth we believe in faith!
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This is not only salvation ,but everything in our lifes!
Because we live by faith!
What we believe is what we will be!
as long as it is according to scripture!
:love:

If it happened to Paul in the Bible then it also happens to us too.

Romans 7

Struggling With Sin

7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead. 9 Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.

11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. 13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

God bless :love: :rainbow: :rose:

Your very wise too see this?
The I is HIS spirit,the body has a sin full nature!
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

BLESS YOU DEAR SISTER and May our LORD reveal more to You .In the name of JESUS CHRIST our LORD and SAVIOR!:love: :love:

I stand corrected, my method of openly dissing spirit1st was wrong. I apologize for that.

If it happened to Paul in the Bible then it also happens to us too.

LadylovesJesus is absolutely right. If Paul struggled we are sure to do so. Also, the Bible teaches that Jesus "...learned obedience by the things which He suffered" Heb. 5:8. Paul and Jesus are excellent examples of their dependance on Heavenly Father for their walk on this earth. Jesus, of course, without sin. There is no child of God that is perfect in every way. Paul was certainly a man of prayer. I would suggest that you go through each of his letters and pray the way he prayed. It was through prayer and total dependance upon God that he was an overcomer. I have taken many of Paul's prayers and prayed them not only for myself, but other Christians. They are powerful and we are praying according to God's will when we pray His Word.

In I Peter 2:2-3 "as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious." Just as babies grow day-by-day, year-by-year, so it is with us. None of us got to where we are with the Lord overnight. We are continuing to grow in him. I would also suggest that when you are getting ready to read the Word that you pray before you do, and ask God to give you clear understanding by His Spirit. His Word is alive and powerful and it is our spiritual food. The more you do this, the more you will see that you are not where you used to be, thank God, and you're not where you are going to be.

We needed Jesus for salvation and we continue to need Holy Spirit for our sanctification. Each day choose to live to glorify God. When you fail, go to IJohn chapter 1 and confess (agree with God about your sin) and allow Him to cleanse and love you as His child. You are in a battle and you are never alone. Hallelujah!

Hello Cichi

If you feel like you are always backsliding, I suggest evaluating your friends and the people that you hang out with. It's always easier to bring someone down than pull someone up. These may be some of your best friends and closest family, maybe even church members as well, but the enemy can use anyone to bring you down. What are their habits? What things are coming out of their mouth? Are they speaking negative and spreading gossip? Are they discouraging you?

If they are not feeding you encouraging words of God, I suggest that you depart from them temporarily and look for more positive friends. Then, when you are spiritually strong enough, you may reunite with them.

I personally had to do this with 99% of my companions when I first got saved (even with my own mom!) but now that I'm strong enough not to let them influence me, I'm the light to their lives instead of letting them be the darkness to mine!

Just some food for thought. :star:

DREAMER,You were not wrong, Doing it openly,
1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
1Ti 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

How else can we see the TRUTH?
People will all disagree at times?
Other wise ,How will we grow in TRUTH?
Peter and i believe the others knew the truth,But refused to live it!
God had to send paul to rebuke them and get them to live in the truth ,they mostly if not all??? knew!
ct 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

Gal 2:11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
Gal 2:12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
Gal 2:13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
Gal 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

Disagreeing is not always bad ,But can be GREAT!
Truth is not always accepted easy?
And it takes time for the Holy Ghost to reach us at times.But,The end is good as we grow to be more like our LORD!
And WE hopefully are All growing?:love:

Dear Chichi2000,

I would urge you to seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit,I found that after this experience,it becomes less likely for one to commit sins.(not that i don't stumble sometimes)

Remember that he is our comforter and our helper and he helps us in all our weaknesses.

And when you trip in your Christian walk, be quick to repent.Never let the devil overcome you with feelings of guilt,remind him that all has been paid at the cross.

God bless you.

Selfdiscipline is the key!

Selfdiscipline is the key!

We should {try} not to sin & we should {try} to fight our own temptations - with all our might.

And I mean - with all our might - trying hard to turn away from our wickedness & practicing {and if it must be - forcing ourselves} to do righteousness.

It's now, that the future is in our hands to do as we please.

And to gain 'Ever Lasting Life on earth ' or to ' go to Heaven,' we must listen to The Almighty GOD & Jesus Christ, and turn from all wicked ways - to the best that we can! To the best of our knowledge, that HE has given us!{Ezekiel 33:11}

Meaning, using all the might, with-in us, by using self-discipline, doing what we know is right & not wrong, no matter what!

And if we do fail, we will be foregiven because The Almighty GOD & Christ Jesus will have seen that we did the very best we could, Jesus' blood covers those who do try with all their might & 'endure to the end.' {Matthew 10:22 & 24:4 - 13}

And what does endure mean? It means to carry on through, despite hardships.

And at times it will seem that others may do better in turning from their wicked ways.

But by-all-means, do not let that bother you! Be happy for them & continue to pray for them. {1 Corinthians 12:26}

And realize too, as long as you are doing the very best that you can, The Almighty GOD & Christ Jesus will know that.

Remember, HE know's what in our heart. And HE will know if HE is in your heart.

Do not dwell on what others may do, for The Almighty GOD is watching them & HE is watching YOU, too.

We all will be judged according to our works.

Though the Bible does state that we should give warning to all people good & bad a like.

Don't worry if you have warned them & yet they do not listen, just pay attention to your own actions.

For The Almighty GOD is watching us all.

It is written - "We can be teachers", and one way is by setting good examples for other people to wittiness & follow. {1 Corinthians 12; Romans 12:6-8, 1 Timothy 4:12, Titus 2:7, 1 Peter 2:21 & 5:3}

Our examples will have messages with in them selves.

Hebrews 12:28
We have been given possession of an unshakeable kingdom. Let us therefore be grateful and use our gratitude to worship God in the way that pleases him, in reverence and fear.

Do you want to see wicked people in the New Earth or New Heveans to Come? {Isaiah 65:17}
To see them pollute the earth - all over again, and our minds & bodies as well?

No of coarse not!

This is why our Almighty GOD must destroy all wickedness! In-order to 'make all things new again.' {Isaiah 65:17, Revelation 21:5

The Almighty GOD & Jesus Christ wand us, HE even showed us & explained how good it would be for us, if we would listen & obeyed HIM. {Deuteronomy 5:29, Micah 6:8}

HE even gave & still gives us a chance to turn from our own wicked ways, and asked us to stay away from following the sins of others. {Ezekiel 18:30-31 & *33:11, 1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9,}

But still HE is marked by many! {Isaiah 52:13 - Isaiah 53:1 - 12}

It is not HIS fault that we choose to sin!

We chose outwardly every day of our lives!
We can reject sin.We do not have to sin!
We are no longer sinners ,but new creatures.
Born of GOD!
If we say ? We are sinners?Then of course we will sin!
Our words are mighty.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
This is very clear?
WE DO NOT HAVE TO YEILD TO SIN ,EVER!
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
This scripture is NOT ,too our flesh,But? TOO our spirit!
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
We ask HIM to forgive us and mean it!
Then move on !
As HE never remembers again.
Only satan will remind us of sins!
:love:

I'm a born again christian but I seem to keep meesing up. I know that God says He forgives us when we confess but it seems to be a trend in my life. How do I get out of this cyclic lifestyle where I move two steps forward and take 5 back?

dear cichi2000,

in a word: humility.

do you believe that you--a mere mortal, a creature--have powers greater than God? Do you really and honestly believe that your sinfulness could ever outweigh God's mercy and love for you?

Rejoice!, Cichi2000! you are a child of God by virtue of Jesus' Passion, Cross and Holy Resurrection! There is nothing you can do, and then sincerely confess, that He would ever turn His Holy Face from you! Peter asks Jesus in the Gospel, "Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother? 7 times?" and Jesus responds, "70 times 7 times!" (in other words, however many times it takes....)

How many more times will your heavenly Father forgive you, Cichi2000, or me, when we are sincerely sorry for our sins. And remember the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray: "forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." Powerful words!

Hey there chichi,
I feel the same way as you do! I have times where I am so "into" God and I resist temptations or go according to schedule let's say for a week. The next, I am down the same road again! It is a very terrible and exhausting cycle and I sometimes just wish I could climb out of it! And Just Now, I am going through the same thing and I TRULY FEAR THAT God will get tired of me and just LEAVE! And what is even weirder is the fact that I AM SO COMPLICATED! I can't to the fullest define me, esp. spiritually. I sometimes go blank and I wouldn't know what is going on in me. I wouldn't know what to say to Jesus so I just stop my fellowship.

If you know the song "the voice of truth" by casting crowns, it just describes exactly what i go through. And I think the main problem comes with who we hear and who we believe. If we choose to believe that we are never good enough, then that's what we are. But if we truly hear to the voice of truth... He says, "i can transform you... just TRUST ME RATHER THAN YOUR WEAKNESS".

Another one is being spiritual consciousness than sin consciousness. If we concentrate more on what God has "done in our lives in the past" we can trust him to do that still.

Still remains fellowship with the Lord. You know when I mess up the most! When I watch too much TV, I feel asleep on the couch and I don't pray! We so much need our devotion time.... let it be 5 minutes with the LORD! Worship and praise everyday... and reading the bible is so very important!

So chichi... I just want to tell you I feel the same way! But don't you think it is time we both focus our eyes on christ and let him do with us what we have seen him do with us before- TRANSFORM US!

I start today... now! I say "loudly" Jesus I have seen you transform me! I have seen you work miracles with me! I don't want to be without you! And i know that, and I submit to you, you can still transform me and I thank you as you do that! I love you My LORD and I praise you! Thank you Jesus for being so patient with me! Thankyou for staying when i need you most! I thank you! Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!!!!!!! Thankyou for being my strength in my weakness!!!!!
chichi... if you need a friend through this, pm me
I luv you

Our inner man [spirit] Longs to please the LORD,Wew were made for HIm.
We all desire LOVE and too LOVE!
Our core being is LOVE!
If we force our selves to praise HIm,We see soon,We no longer care for the things of the world and love this !HE then ? Blesses us!:love:
THE LORD HAS ALREADY DECLARED?
We are overcomers and More than conquers!
We just need to beleive these things ,then we live them.
I found?
If we confess out loud too our selves the things HE says?
Soon ,we start beleiving them as TRUTH!Because,they are true!
He cannot lie!
This is faith!!!Believing HIM above our eyes!
He has done everything HE could for us!Now it is up too us to read and beleive.Then we see !

Don't be so hard on yoursetlf.

By all means, we are going to fall - we're not perfect & we're going to show the scars of failure.

The only thing I can think to do is every time we fall is get back up and try, try again.

We may never become perfect {in this a of age}, but we can keep on trying to do our best, with all our might.

Remember too, GOD knows our hearts, HE knows who loves HIM & who really wants to do HIS Will, HE knows those who really {want to} try.

So if and when - we do fail, we will be foregiven because The Almighty GOD & Christ Jesus will have seen that we did the very best we could, Jesus' blood covers those who do try with all their might & endure to the end.

Go in peace, and may your walk with The Almighty GOD & Christ Jesus be a Blessed one.
