in Christ's image or be cool.

on you tube I am uploading more songs. the one so far last night is titled Jesus Christ. God gave me this song and in his name is the whole gospel literally. ( Jesus Christ Davidt Coleman in the search bar. ) next one is the only God----this is going on there later today.

I don't know. I agree with all of the posts about not being conformed to the world, but on the other hand, I think Jesus was pretty cool in his way.
I mean if you were alive in those times, you saw a guy feed thousands of people with one basket of fish. A man who walked on water and controlled the storms.
Even the Roman soldier in Mark 15:39 said "Surely, this was the son of God".
Mar 6:2 When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?
He went from a small group of 12 men to thousands of followers in just 3 short years. I don't think Jesus was this skinny frail looking quiet shy person. I think he was bold, not afraid to offend the pharisee's. I think he might have even been a pretty strong (carpenter) kind of guy with a great sense of humour. He certainly stood up for what he believed in.
In fact, I think often he had a hard time getting a little time to himself. (Matt 14:13; Matt 14:23)
What's funny is, the world today stresses individuality and being original, but what they really mean is follow the crowd and put your faith in worldly things. Once you start following Jesus, you realize you can be free from all those things. (John 8:36) and that is pretty cool.

I like to use the word awesome about Jesus. Cool means to me , as a former heavy metal artist, one who puts on a act to get atention. Jesus was no act he was the real awesome thing. My parents who used to be uncool to me taught me to respect authority. Now Deity that is something you bow to. a fearful respect knowing that he
created me and expects me to obey him. He wants me to conform to his image which is a sobriety type image. I even watch what my humor affords me to say. I don't want to speak that which doesn't edify---build up. One preacher said, be hard on self and gentle on others. In meekness instruct others. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is difficult to be a new creation, old things are passed away behold all things have become new.

i just want to say the ones that thought Jesus wasnt cool were the religious of the time ...the ones that did think he was cool were the leapers and drunkards that He visited and befriended..yes be not apart of this world . but as we must live in it why not take Christ to the wounded and hurting not just the Church crowd ..and by the way Christ was a man of no reputation ..nor did He judge cool or not just wounded or not...i have a good friend that has been through crack and many other bad things but as i try to set the pace for him back to God ive told him this..i will pray for you and stand with you but i wont waller in the mud with you .....Rev

to be technical, cool is meant to be a good thing. In my days, we used to say bad. We would say for instance that the thing we thought was intense was bad.
We used to sometimes say a body part after saying bad. Like a Harley drive by---that is a bad bike. we might even say a bad boy, meaning cool.
Wearing sloppy clothes, unshaved face, (no problem with beards), a burger and shake and fry, sandles, body armor, tatoos, made one bad or cool.

We as Christians are free to wear and do as we please. The choice we make is out of our love for Christ. Our opinion of what we like or dislike was what we were born with. We think and act without any guidance in life. If we want to do it we will and we have our opinions. We are free to do whatever we want.
If we have fellowship with a Jesus who expected a priest to come behind a vail and be fully dressed down to the foot with a garment, with bells anouncing his approach, we can at least come to church without wearing our ***** have hanging out, or pants so tight you can see the center of two cheeks.
We can at least take our hat off in a worship service. I recommend one though if falling under a demon power.

So Jesus said but whom say ye that I am. Lk. 9:20 Peter answered, the Christ of God. That is the only thing I ask you to consider.
the world calls him a fool, others call him cool, But I call him most reverant master.

The issue in the post wasn't about Jesus being cool, it was about people being cool. living in a world as a Christian not a clone to their evil ways.
We must unlearn all the ways of the world --all of it. we live in a world , does not give licence to live in it like others do. Why does it say love not the world neither the things in it? John 15:19, and 1Jn. 2:15.

The issue with slang----it was meant long ago in order to hide from our parents that we were using drugs. we could talk over their heads so they didn't know what we were saying. Rap music was a rebelious way of singing over their heads, drugs crime, sex, and all the ethical things we were to learn by them we were mocking. Katy Perry is singing that in her songs esp. sex. now it's getting deep into Satan worship. So we were taught that to make our conversation
clear and plane so no one would be able to reproach Christ.

I do apologize if I made that a little obscure.
heres what I was trying to say To live a life for Christ may not always be the cool thing , modest in dress and thought , humble . Willing to befriend the friendless and walk as a living epistle among them...Now I also agree we have allowed a measure of the world into our church's while judging those who walk Dailey in a hell of thier own making..Christ walked with me through it in the way of ministers and believers that crossed my path planting seed...the world should be left at the temple door but when we walk out be ready to be all things to all people that some may know Christ....I myself have caught church flak because I would go to a bar .i shot pool and played darts , and drank coffee .!! And several ask me why I chose to do so..To witness and tell others of Christ I don't look like a minister and i dont have th normal rightious scales that seperate so many from ministry to the lost.......Rev

I appreciate and understand your heart. You would probably have said at the last part----be balanced and use wisdom in all you do as a ambassador for the king of kings---amen?
