Is it right for me a born again believer to drink alcohol?

Depends. consuming alcoholic beverages isn't evil in and of itself. The EVIL comes in when the consumption becomes compulsive. The old saying goes: "God doesn't care what you've GOT, but He cares greatly about what's GOT YOU."

My problem was Cigarettes - COULD NOT stop using them. UNTIL I asked God to get me OFF of smoking, and HE made it possible for me to say "NO" to the next one, and after about 4 months of hell, I didn't think about them (much) any more. 51 years later, I'm STILL a "tobacco addict". I just didn't light up today.

Alcohol has never been an issue. A cold (European, or Mexican) beer on a warm day when the work's done is a GOOD thing. If I never have another beer, no loss.

Key points to consider whether you are a Christian (born again) or not.

1 - don't drink if you have health issues
2 - don't drink if you are taking drugs
3 - Do not exceed the health recommended amounts and don't bing drink.

Does scripture say we are not to drink alcohol? No.

As already stated, Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding feast.

We should do everything in moderation, but we can drink a little red wine that is good for the stomach and digestive system (Not when taking drugs)

Here are a number of Bible versions, they all basically say the same thing.

1 Timothy 5:22 tells us...
KJ21 - Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thy frequent infirmities.
ASV - Be no longer a drinker of water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
AMP - No longer continue drinking [only] water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
AMPC - Drink water no longer exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

Why you drink alcohol needs to be answered? Do you drink because you want to fit in; peer pressure; unwind; get a buzz; get to sleep; get drunk? Is your drink medicinal?

Strong alcohol kills, sometimes within a few minutes, but most often over time.

There is no prohibition against drinking alcoholic beverages. Otherwise Jesus would have sinned in his first miracle during the wedding at Cana when he turned water into wine.

There is warning, prohibition, against becoming drunk.
