Is playing games with witchcraft sin?

Here is my nickels worth...(they did away with the penny in Canada so the value of what I say just went up 4 cents)

I am very familiar with RPG games, my boys used to play them...I don`t necessarily think the potions, and casting of spells, and magic weaponry that are used to fight the opponent in a game, can be likened to partaking in witchcraft...no more than I think I am dabbling in covetousness, or hating my neighbor, or murder if I play a game of monopoly etc. (old board game players will get the point)

With that being said, I will also say this and perhaps it will answer the deeper question of what is right and what is wrong in Gods eyes. Gods eyes being the only point of importance.

The good 'church' going folk of the past generation...perhaps for generations even... seem to have accepted and fostered a mentality that views GOD as AWAY up there...and we are way down here...and He only comes `round when we are in meeting and/or praying. I`ve been around long enough, and seen enough, that i`m not just talking off the top of my head about the way people think and conduct their lives. Angels in the pews...and devils in the parking lot ...some folk don`t need to play a 'game' to partake in the devils deeds, they are living his lies.

The way I see it, how we govern our lives has a lot to do with how we view God. If we view Him as distant, it makes it easy, outside the church building and the prayer closet, to dance around the edges of satans platform. That is not SO bad...this is`nt SO wrong...etc...allowing our lust for pleasure to dull our conscience until we can`t even judge right from wrong anymore (God has already given humans that knowledge so there is no excuse)

So to answer the OP ...is God ever present and no where`s absent in your life...or would you have to hide yourself in shame when He comes and sits beside you and see`s what you are doing? Asking yourself that question, will answer any question you will ever have about right and wrong.

In truth He is already wherever you are.

Blessings

How do these 'opinions' line up with what FATHER says?

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

I don`t know... is it dishonest, unjust, or impure to swing a sword or shoot a gun in a game...(I know a lot of Christian guys who play combat games) ...if the thoughts and intents of your heart being such that you would never do that in reality? Really?

k...if FATHER thinks that is evil...there goes pretty much every game I can think of....including paint ball.

Bang I`m dead - and you killed me - and now you need to repent of whatsoever was in your heart that made you want to shoot at me ...know`m sayin?

Many...most...all? cultures use games as a training tool for children and students and even the military. What you practice you will learn and possibly use in real life.

Punch "Using games as a training tool" into your search window

oh help!

According to your "opinion" (and to be fair, other humble Hombro`s) I should be the greedy CEO of a Bank by now...or at least overtaken by greed, seeing as how I played enough monopoly growing up to learn to love money more than humanity. I also played cowboys and Indians (I know I know, that childhood game is just straight out of the dark ages)

You are the one who pointed out whatsoever is in a mans heart, determines who he is. (oh Jesus said that to, so that is true for sure)

I think I`ll retreat to my "I don`t know" place now...:embarasse

LOLOL An exception to every rule? I did my research on that one though. OK Monopoly or the game by Robert Kyosaki called "Cashflow" Training tools for financial ends. Monopoly is weak there.

War games, strategy games, even puzzle games hone the imagination and often help shape the way one thinks.
Ok So you didn't turn in to a "Donalda Trumpski" But no doubt you learned something from that game. Even if it was a bit of avarice that you since had to unlearn.

Actually all I learned was I could trump boys if I really put my mind to it...and I stored that little bit of knowledge.
