Its sad that our UK friends have to deal with this. Are we next?

The UK needs to have a mature debate about immigration.

This article sadly does nothing to take us close to a better conversation. It's full of unintelligent lies, lazy exaggeration and divisiveness.

Globalism at its worst.

Very sad, now saying they are threatening to have US citizen extradited to the UK for posting stuff they dont like. Bad enough suppressing free speech for their own ppl, but threatening to do so to ppl outside their own country, and no doubt our current administration might comply, because they are globalists as well. Are you going to try to get us jailed in the UK Hekuran? You seem to support this stuff.

This isn't a freedom of speech issue, it's about incitement to hatred and acts of violence. The racist toxic lies spread online by the likes of Yaxley-Lennon whipped up a mob that set fire to a hotel full of people.

It's not about making comments as the deceitful article says, it's about sponsoring and organising riots.

Free speech does not entail freedom of responsibility. The people behind acts of terrorism should expect to be brought to justice for their crimes.

Tyler Kay was sentenced to 38 months in jail after he used social media to call for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set alight.

His words had real life consequences.

@Christ4Ever for consistency's sake you should stay on the sidelines when it comes to commenting on events in the UK.
So, you don't think this is part of Globalism, which is the only comment I made?
I posted this because I just thought it went hand in hand with the original post.

As far as consistency's sake, what you really mean is partiality. I don't mind staying out of UK business, until a law enforcement official in the UK says they'll be going after people from other countries for breaking "their" laws, and so my only comment pertained to "Globalism" and nothing about the events happening in the UK. That's your problem. Though I can pray for you all, if that's okay?

However, you and I both have a stake in this matter, because of what this official said. Because if you agree with this UK official, what you're saying is that you think it's okay that you should have to adhere to other countries law's as well. Which means you'll be held accountable by laws instituted not only in the UK, but the US, Russia, China, Iran, etc. by either omission or commission and so Globalism!

Now I don't mind in a matter of speaking in part to what he was saying, because we know there are "agitators" everywhere, but he could have phrased it in a way that did not make it appear that "generally" speaking all people from other countries must adhere to UK law.

No one can make you do anything, unless you want to. If someone says something that lends to the baser instincts of humanity, and they follow through with it, then the responsibility falls to the individual who perpetrated the acts of violence. Attempting to broaden the definition of criminality to encompass authors of ideas deemed repugnant by society only erodes freedom of speech and fails to incorporate personal responsibility for one's actions as the main culprit. As long as the person doing the writing, is not going out there themselves and following through with the acts of violence, then they are but words.

So, be careful what you ask for as a Christian. Believers in Jesus Christ will also be targeted by the Governmental powers to be. I mean they already are! You can't speak against Homosexuality, etc. without facing legal recriminations. Even sermons on the subject, are considered hate speech in some places! So, when you start allowing the government to dictate/criminalizing "free speech", then you no longer have it.

You have to keep in mind that nobody is making any of these people read what others have posted or making them act upon what they read. That is where the personal responsibility part comes in. Unless you don't want freedom of speech, which is up to you to decide. Otherwise, you'll have to answer who dictates what is acceptable or not? If you say the government, you will find that you've already abdicated your freedom!

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36 KJV

Police Commissioner Mark Rowley was speaking on national media for a UK audience. Everybody in the UK knows exactly who he has in mind, and it's a UK citizen currently stirring up acts of terrorism from a Mediterranean holiday destination.

The headline of the piece you linked to is misleading. He doesn't mention extradition at all, much less American.

Very unhelpful that the commenter linked in the opening post takes it as a further opportunity to further stir up a volatile situation and irresponsible of you to give it legitimacy by reposting it.

It would be good if TalkJesus were a bit more vigilant about removing this kind of divisive trash from the site.

While you're reposting and repeating this damaging nonsense, the church in the UK is comforting the grieving, holding back violence with peace and prayer vigils, and clearing up the damage.

Your ignorance on this matter is doing you no credit at all. Please stop.

So, because he was talking to the UK audience, it was, okay? If you think that the UK audience thought it was only about UK citizens, then they need to go back to school, or at the very least listen to what he said which was "When you are committing crimes in this country or further afield, we will come after you." What does "further afield" mean to you? If you're not in the UK, then where are you???

As far as damaging nonsense, it's by the Police Commissioner's own words! So, I guess it is damaging nonsense! :)

Glad the Church in the UK is moving to helping the people in need out. Something that should be emulated by all of God's people.

Read my post properly before you comment.

In this specific case, "further afield" means Greece.

The most prominent online antagonist is a UK citizen. He is currently in Greece stirring up lies, hatred and coordinating the riots via social media. The message that the police commissioner is rightly sending is that this man will be held accountable under the law for his actions.

Freedom of speech is not a defence against threatening the safety of others or making death threats.

The damaging nonsense is not coming from the police commissioner. It is from the commenters Matt Walsh and Alexander Hall who have deliberately twisted and distorted the situation. Unfortunately it seems their deceptions are effective.

Greece??? You mean another country?
Oh, when you also say, "Read my post properly before you comment.", do you mean until I come to agree with what you are saying?

The term "prominent" does not imply exclusivity, but rather that there are others as well or are you saying it's just this one UK citizen in Greece and no one else? If so, I guess the commissioner, should have explained himself better, or taken greater care with his words.

The damaging nonsense is coming from others...Humm maybe poor choice of words are to blame?

When you state that it was intended solely for UK citizens, the term "prominent," as I previously mentioned, may not convey your intended meaning to others. As intelligent individuals, we must acknowledge that there are no secrets on the internet. Perhaps labeling it "For UK Eyes Only" would be clearer. I suppose this would apply universally as well.

Dear Brother,
You should already know that if discussing such subjects give you a headache, then for your own peace of mind, you should avoid them.

There are a lot of threads I avoid interacting in except as my duties as a Moderator call me to do. Why? Because they give me a headache!

I have no negative thoughts about you at all believe it or not. We see things differently. Which is not surprising really, considering our upbringing, and walk in life are probably a bit different. Yet, ultimately, I see you as a Brother in Christ Jesus, above all the politics, and garbage our governments get themselves involved in. lol

However, if after so many years of being here, and being a Loyal Member, if you want your account closed, I will pass it on to Brother Chad to have it happen. Just remember, that this too will pass, and the world will not be getting any better until our Lord and Savior Jesus comes back!
