Dear Brother,
I know that no one wants to have words attributed to them that are not theirs. However, there are ways to communicate with others which would allow for correction and less animus than you are displaying by using the word "liar" to identify them with. Maybe starting out with "You are mistaken, those were your words and probably misquoted me thinking they were mine..."
Await their reply, and see if there was an honest mistake, before going full bore against the person who very well may be a Brother or Sister in Christ Jesus. Our Lord could see to the heart of the person He was speaking to. We cannot, so we require greater patience with our interactions with others.
