GOD destroyed all Esau descendants for they went against Jacobs descendants? the Israelites. (Obadiah1:18) Esau descendants were sinners who were prideful in heart,violent against jacob (Israelites),did not help jacob(Israelites) when under attack,looked down on jacob (Israelites) & enter to ransacked the destroyed city.

GOD hated the world , but he also loved the world so what did GOD do for this wicked world? Sent his son Jesus to save the world..(1 Tim. 1:14) thru his & Jesus love for us. GOD hates workers of iniquity so much , he gave us a choice, to die or to live..to choose life he gives us his divine nature , he changes us (sinners who are freed from iniquity)the old man dies to self, passes away ( we are new creatures in Christ(2 Cort. 5:17).we by accepting GODS love turn from sin. GODS hatred of sinners ( by his Love when we have faith, repent of our sins to GOD & start walking by faith,he ( GOD will totally destroy the carnal sinner you were. he will tear your world apart as you know it & will show you all sin thru GODS eyes not mans eyes . you will suffer my friend for the HOLY Spirit will show you the sinner you are..(were). YOUR WALK OF SHAME WHEN YOU WILL HANG YOUR HEAD & EYES LOW UPON THE GROUND.. I no longer see things as i once did , no longer enjoy the things i once did,i no longer look thru eyes clouded by the material world .. i dont need all the fancy stuff of the world, big house ,cars , money , to watch tv any more... none of the things that appeal to most people of the world.. all i need is the love of my GOD..he gives me all i need, love, grace, salvation, food, shelter, water. mercy & forgiveness of my sins. i can ask for no more and I DO NOT DESERVE EVEN THIS FROM HIM....

We see things a little different. No one deserves anything good from God but God is love meaning God's essence is love. Yes there are things He detests but there is no one that God does not love.

Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And here's one of my favorite scriptures.

Rom 8:38&39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. :wink:

yes (John3:16) says as you stated but it says"whosoever Believeths in him "(Christ) should not perish, but have eternal life. you have to have FAITH & BELIEVE . you must turn from sin . SEE (John18-21)

Same in (Romans 8:38-39). WE must first read( Romans 8:1-2) to get the full picture here. Paul is speaking to CHRISTIANS... those already saved. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh( what we desire , what we want) but after the spirit( what GOD wants) ( Romans8:6-9) tells us the carnal mind ( things we desire in the flesh,) are enmity(enemy) against GOD. This whole chapter speaks to Christians,only.... christians can not be separted from GOd but the sinners / unsaved will be....
to save space & time i will only use my own words here but will put where they are found.

(Matthrew 25:31-46) Jesus separates the sheep(saved) from the goats(unsaved) . the goats go into ever lasting fire prepared for satan & his angels.

(Matthrew 13:37-50) wheat/ tares. wheat are the saved / tares unsaved who will be gathered & separated & unsaved will be thrown into the furnace at the end.

if GOD loved all the saved & also the sinners who choose not GODS way & rejected his love & grace, what does the day of judgement mean? if GODS love covered every one , we would all live with CHRIST no matter what we done.. this would mean Jesus suffered for NOTHING...

In His great love, Jesus draws all people to Himself. However, by virtue of their own decisions, many will be excluded from the banquet He has prepared (see Mt 22:1-14). It is God's hatred of their sin and their refusal to repent that condemns them.

Regarding God and forgiveness:

For me, only God can forgive my sins. In my view, whenever Jesus healed someone it was an emotional healing -- accepting them as human beings worthy of love and respect regardless of their social class, education, occupation, or skin condition (lepras, Greek for things like eczema and psorriasis, for instance). The process of repentance/forgiveness in OT tradition is called teshuvah. The root verb is shuv: to turn/return. "This doctrine implies that man has been endowed by God with the power of 'turning.' He can turn from evil to the good, and the very act of turning will activate God's response and lead to forgiveness." (Rabbi David Rosen)

For the most part this is exegetical, which of course is derived from scripture. Not only do I find God's forgiveness in both exegesis and scripture, but I find it in my own life.

I have done a lot of bad things. I was not always a military police officer. I was a rough, rowdy, rude, drug-abusing teenager. I fell from grace repeatedly despite what I thought were my best efforts. However, every time I asked God for assistance or to feel His presence -- I did. I always felt cleaned after I prayed for forgiveness and took steps to rectify and change my behavior. I feel completely and totally blessed, even though that feeling is tempered by a feeling that I don't deserve it.

Just as (Matthew 10:22) And ye shall be hated of (ALL) men for my name sake.

Also (Mark 13:13) And ye shall be hated of (ALL)men for my name sake, but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

The (ALL) they are speaking in (Matt 10:22) & (MK 13:13) CANNOT be everyone in the WORLD. Only sinners, unsaved would HATE Christ.... The faithful believers, the saved would NOT HATE Christ or the apostles. they would LOVE them...

All people are drawn (invited) but, as I said in my earlier post, many will hear the invitation and reject it, thus putting themselves in the "goats" classification. Its their decision (see Mt 22:1-14).

That's a mighty big assumption man. I'm pretty sure Jesus would want us to love our neighbor and not pass judgment on others (since we are not the Judge, and to become one is kinda blasphemous/presumptuous, is it not?).

One of the reasons that people are so knowledgeable of the Gospel of Matthew (for instance) is because of Constantine locking priests together in a room and telling them to hash it out -- not to mention Athanasius's ruthlessness in perpetuating his own version of Christianity. Why else would gospels such as the Gospel of Thomas or the Gospel of Mary be excluded?

Just some thoughts, I'm certainly not trying to challenge you -- except to be more open-minded of others and their opinions.

Wow, Judgement, CAPS aside, I loved the way you drenched your post in scripture. Who can argue with that? It really spoke to me and was pretty straight forward. I will share this with some of my unsaved friends who are pretty much living the way they desire. As did I. They just need to hear the Truth and surrender to Heavenly Father to truly LIVE. So many souls are caught up in this way of life and so many of us are afraid to share with them that there is a better way to live.

I don't know why some people are so prone to keep silent with the excuse they don't want to be judgemental or they consider it condemnation or something. There IS a right and wrong, some people just haven't heard it yet, and by gum, they won't hear it from Cole I guess. Just show them the Scripture and let them be the judge for themselves. A little Truth never hurt anyone. But it sure saved ME! Good post!

Christ Himself said that even anyone even looks at another person with bad thoughts or intentions they have already committed adultery.

I have a major issue with all of this and how the "church" handles this topic.

Jesus did not say that man and wife "must" be married before living together or having a relationship.

My lady and I have been living together for almost 2 years. I am a Christian and place my entire life and each breath before God.

Would my God whom loves me and literally displays it with His unmatched Grace each day scold me and cast me aside because I choose to live and sleep with my wife/girlfriend? Because I don't have a marriage license or a Ring on my finger?

No.

Adultery, the fact that people whom are married and actually living a lie is worse to God than all the love that is shared between me and my lady.

Fornication. Such a silly word to label all folks that share a relationship and love between themselves. Fornication is the act of sleeping around. One night flings. This week a lover and the next another.

Would Lord Jesus look at me one day and say: "you fornicator. You never thought or even dared to look at any other woman, you would beg for forgiveness if any thoughts entered not of your own of any other person". You loved your lady/girlfriend/wife as I loved you. You loved her with your all. All that doesn't matter because you did not have a marriage license or a Ring. Bad guy!

No. He would not. I stake my life on it.

God Himself wrote the Word and everything He says IS. As He Is.

God mentions that it is Better for one person in a relationship to be saved, rather than both lost. Because the one person that is saved may be the reason that the unsaved person may come to God.

I pray for Suzanne and her situation. Lord help her to not lose her faith. Enable her to share it with her boyfriend and help her express her need for marriage. Poor Suzanne should have posted this really in the counselling forum and she would have gotten a different response to her dilemma. Nevertheless we can pray for her, I noticed she hasn't been back on the board since April. My heart goes out to her this is a very hard situation because children are involved and this man even though NOT the biological father is their father.

She came to Christ after she had established this relationship. Legalism isn't the answer for her situation.

Why would the situation have merited a different response in the Counseling forum? Good counselors give straight Scripture-based answers. We're not here to tickle their ears. We're here to urge them to do the right thing, tough though it may be.

Its not about legalism. Its about God's moral law which He established in His wisdom because He understands the faulty reasoning we use to establish our own self-centered codes.

I agree we that we should all be looking to follow God's commandments.

It takes time to deal with sin and when another party is involved there is an added complication.

None of us have stopped sinning 100% the moment we became Saved. I have now been a Christian for 30 years and I can definitely say I don't have all my sins defeated. Looking forward to heaven when I will be perfected.

God was patient with David when he sinned with Bathsheba and then took it to the next level and killed her husband. Oh yes they paid for it with the death of their son there were consequences but God didn't just strike David down straight away. David finally repented. You would think this episode would have stripped David of God's esteem "David son of Jesse a man after my own heart"? Yet the Lord continued to see David as the man whom He loved very much regardless of this sin and many others he made in his lifetime.

I'm sorry if you have jumped to the conclusion that am a liberal Christian when it comes to sin. Not so Jesus died for all our sins. However I am not a legalist either I have learned to be compassionate and help people work on their sins.

Does a porn addict after being told it's a sin immediately stop?

Does a gossip immediately stop when told it's a sin?

They will realistically, need to be assisted to stop and and it will take time. Now I decided one day to stop smoking and never went back to it many years ago but I know many who have struggled and fell and struggled and fell and struggled. Just because it was easy for me I don't condemn those who struggle. Don't know why it was easy for me not for my friends who still struggle with the habit.

Maybe I am soft on Christians who are in obvious Sin but that's my style. However my aim is to encourage and support other Christians in areas where they are sinning. I wouldn't just condon their Sin and if need be I would make that apparant by walking away from them if they persisted to Sin and not see any problem themselves with what they were doing or were not making any efforts to stop. As to where they stood with God I leave that judgement up to Him.

Jesus called the Pharisees legalists (not using the actual word but they knew the law but they didn't have a heart for God or others really).

You have an a different view of legalism from the norm or what most people would understand it to mean. Hence why you didn't get what I had posted earlier.


My use of the word is as per the dictionary.

So there is no room for mercy, compassion in that defintion. So yes it does actually mean a condemning attitude. That is how I used the word.

So you and I will have a difference of Understanding each other if you have a different definition of a word.

You have said you too have learned to have compassion. That's good we are on the same page really despite having a different interpretation of the word Legalism.
