noun: fornication; plural noun: fornications
sexual intercourse between people not married to each other.
What does the Bible say about fornication?
Heb 13:4; Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
1 Cor 6:18; Flee fornication. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.
1 Cor 6:19; Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
1 Cor 7:2; But to avoid fornication, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.
Gal 5:19; Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: fornication, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20; idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
Gal 5:21; envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Rev 21:8; "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
1 Cor 6:13; Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.
1 Cor 6:9; Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
1 Cor 6:10; nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
2 Tim 2:22; Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
Rev 9:20 ; The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk;
Rev 9:21; and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their fornication nor of their thefts.
Some Bibles simply use the word "immorality" but the two common words used here are 'porne' and 'pornos' (which or course pornography comes from)
which means sexual immorality. Fornication is the not the same thing as adultery. The greek word for adultery is moicheuō.
THe difference between fornication and adultery is that in fornication, the two people are not married to anyone (including each other)
In adultery one or both people are married to someone but not the person they are having sex with.
Jude 1:7; just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross fornication and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
1 Tim 1:9; realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers
1 Tim 1:10; and fornicators and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,
Eph 5:3; But fornication or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;
Eph 5:4; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
Eph 5:5; For this you know with certainty, that no fornicator or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Col 3:5; Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
Col 3:6; For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
Matt 15:18; "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.
Matt 15:19; "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.
Matt 15:20; "These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man."
