- Now about the apostles: they stay with Jesus between 3 and 4 years!
- But they didn’t understand his message when they were with him!
- They had to wait for his death!
- About the age of the apostles when Jesus chose them: John, the youngest, was anywhere from 15 to 18 and Peter, the oldest, 26 to 30!
- How long did the 12 disciples live?
- It is speculated that John was approximately 90 years old when he died, near the year 100 AD.
Most of the other apostles are generally considered to have died by A.D. 75. If they had been in their twenties at the time they joined Jesus' ministry, that would place them in their sixties at their deaths and well within the life expectancy of an adult in those times.
- About Paul:
- Sources will list his year of birth between 4-6 AD. Paul's conversion to Christianity and the beginnings of his mission journeys are dated between 33-36 AD. This would put Paul's age at 27-31 years old.
- Paul was in his early 60s when he died. He was born in the Roman Empire in 5 AD and died between 64 or 67 CE, which would have made him between 61 and 65 years old.
